TG Watkins – Markets Shrug Off Tariff Talk: AI, Crypto, Silver, and Bull Market Rotation

July 14, 2025

TG Watkins, Director of Stocks at Simpler Trading and editor of the Profit Pilot website and YouTube channel, breaks down what’s driving markets higher and where the next leadership may emerge.

Markets are pushing to new all-time highs, brushing off tariff noise and geopolitical uncertainty. In this interview, TG Watkins joins us to unpack what’s fueling this continued strength and how investors should position in a fast-moving bull market.

Key themes discussed:

  • Tariff headlines vs. market resilience: Despite renewed tariff threats from Trump, markets continue higher – why?

  • AI and Crypto leading the charge: Nvidia, AMD, and tokenization themes are back in focus. Crypto breakout signals renewed momentum.

  • Sector rotation in full swing: Big tech is stretched; money is flowing into smaller, higher-risk plays and overlooked sectors like drones and silver.

  • Volatility watch: The VIX is around 17; TG expects a near-term pullback but views it as a buying opportunity.

  • Precious metals outlook: Silver breaks out to 14-year highs, while gold consolidates and awaits a clearer catalyst.

TG shares insights on:

  • Where smart money is rotating next

  • Signs of market froth and the case for a short-term reset

  • What would make him turn more defensive

  • Why he’s watching SPX 21-day and weekly 21 MAs for support

CONSIDER THIS: THE US DEBT IS NOW OVER $37 TRILLION

    Trillions Matter
The difference between “billions” and “trillions” is not merely alphabetical, it’s brutal.

1 BILLION seconds ago, for example, places us in 1997. But 1 TRILLION seconds ago places us at 30,000 BC.

Let that sink in for a moment.

If this shocks or bothers you, well… you’re not alone.

There is now talk of gold at $20,000 per ounce, possible maybe but The US has to figure a way out of their debt crisis, and they hold over 8,000 tonnes of gold, but nobody knows because their supplies haven’t been properly audited since The Korean War, in the early 1950’s. DT

China is everywhere these days if it isn’t exploring in the Mariana Trench, they are sending probes to the Moon and Mars.

China controls the processing of rare earth elements and the magnets that are built from them which then controls the high-tech economy.

They don’t want The World’s Reserve Currency they have orders of magnitude of more gold than any other competitor. Gold will be the mechanism that settles trading between countries in the very near future not The US dollar. DT

US alternative is tokenization, stable this and that, crypto, a bit here and there, a large dose of hype and war everywhere.

Huge attack on NEM. CFO leaving doesn’t warrant 8 percent haircut. Guess this reinforces the thesis that mining stocks are trading vehicles and maybe not a long term investment.

Looks like a buying opportunity unless it’s a sign of internal trouble. I’m guessing there’s no problem. Everything is under pressure today which certainly added to NEM’s selling.
It filled its 6/13 gap and backtested the 6/12 breakout but found too much buying to quite reach its 50 day MA (so far).

Btw, I noticed that my annotations are showing up again including on the charts under the weekend show. We’ll see if it lasts.

Nice! I can see annotations and your charts are awesome. I will add to my nem position if price claws back.
