Welcome!

Food for thought, not an endorsement.

April 16, 2012

One of our listeners sent the following to me. I offer it as food for thought at this point. Romney has not secured the nomination yet and if he does I am not sure that I would vote for him as I am planning on writing in Ron Paul.

“This is an interesting comment on his character:

Sometimes, this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle. In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search.

He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York , and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could prostitutes, drug addicts ñ anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey , where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When  Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts .

Character counts!! (and yes…that’s worth reading again!)   Name one good thing that Obama has done for America.  Romney is 100 times better than Obama and his Chicago Regime.

Any American that says they will not vote for Romney isn’t thinking straight.    If Silent America doesn’t vote in 2012 Obama wins.

That would NOT be good for America.  America has been seriously damaged since Obama took over in Jan. 2009!  The Chicago Radicals have done must damage from Foreign Affairs to Energy non-management!  We cannot all work for or depend on Govt. or we will quickly become another Greece.  Wake up your family, your neighbors, your friends, your church, your work-place, and your social contacts!!

If the America we all know and love isn’t voted FOR in 2012, it may well disappear.   Multiculturalists, Progressives, & Liberals are destroying America will little to no opposition.  Apathy could quickly destroy the greatest Country planet Earth has ever known!”

If Paul stays in the race, a vote for him is a vote for Obama.

What is wrong with people today, why can’t they listen to the leaders who got it right. This is JFK 1962, He Say’s And I quote,’ The US as the world knows will never start a war. We do not now expect a war this generation of Americans has had enough of war and all we get is oppression. I think we need to listen to our past leaders.

I watched the detabe last night. I saw the interview with some of the audience. The interviewers asked them who was the biggest loser. They all said in unison Ron Paul. I think Ron Paul had the most intelligent and statements, although some of them veered off topic. He got his point across and the other candidates only stared at him with smug smiles. I think Ron Paul won the detabe. The audience who said he did not win clearly were biased from the beginning and never listened to Paul. But who cares about them? The bright side is that there for the first time since Barry Goldwater is a Republican Party Presidential nominee candidate who is a true honest to goodness Republican. He is making a point that yes, it is possible for the Republican Party to return to its roots. I’m voting in the Arizona Primary (absentee ballot) for Ron Paul. I don’t expect him to be the Republican nominee. In that case, I will switch my party back to the Libertarian Party and work hard for the LP candidate.

    Apr 16, 2012 16:47 PM

No one BUT Ron Paul deserves anyone’s vote.

You are EXACTLY RIGHT – in my opinion!

      I agree.

What do you think; however, of Dai’s comment above?

I completely disagree with the concept. The lesser of two evils (IF one is the lesser), is still evil. Gore fans who blamed Nader for splitting the vote were wrong to do so. In principal, it is a form of tyranny that the majority would disenfranchise the minority in the name of some perceived greater good. If we’re going to stoop to this level, there is more evidence that Romney is standing in Paul’s way. A recent Rasmussen poll showed that Paul would beat Obama while Romney would not. On top of that, it is obvious that Romney’s policies would be much more similar to Obama’s than Paul’s.

          Apr 16, 2012 16:19 PM

          Matthew,
Do you really think Romney would run the country like a socialist dictator opposed to capitalism??

            Apr 16, 2012 16:57 PM

Aside from the rhetoric, there’s little reason to think otherwise. Do you think that Bush was less of a dictator than Obama, with his Patriot Act; his deployment of troops on U.S. soil after Katrina (and confiscating guns); his undeclared wars; his bailouts; etc.? How about his signing of the Security and Prosperity Partnership in 2005?
            http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=8375
Most importantly, when was the last time a republican president DID NOT spend like a socialist? Has Romney (or Bush) ever said that they would end the Fed? As long as most republicans remain as clueless as most democrats, the U.S. is doomed. In other words, the U.S. is doomed.
Today’s conservatives are mostly social conservatives. They are as financially illiterate as any democrat. This wasn’t nearly as true 50 years ago.

When you say “capitalism,” I assume you mean free-market capitalism, which is not possible as long as there’s a central bank.

Of course Ron Paul is my choice, but Romney would be better than Obama and his radical agenda. Look who surrounds Obama. The White house is full of his hand picked Communists, Socialists, and Anti-American Extremists.
Ron Paul does not have the delegates to win and a write in for him would be a vote for Obama. We cannot take four more years of Obama’s failed policies.

“Multiculturalists, Progressives, & Liberals are destroying America will little to no opposition. ”

People think everything happens in Washington. The control freaks do have their minions in all county and courts (agenda 21, for example), let`s removing those and half their power and influence will be gone. Re-taking the control in Washington may have to be hoped for by the next generation. But let that generation testify that we did something in our local community.

As for Romney or Obama, I see no difference. Romney`s model in Massassuchets was used for Obama care.

    Well, first a few things.

I remember when this story broke out and had forgotten all about as time has lapsed. I thank the individual for allowing it to be posted. Yes, it does show some great qualities of a man named Mitt Romney. But….

Let’s also not forget, that gesture was done nearly 16 YEARS AGO. And, yes, he did take absolutely no pay for SOME of his positions, which is very noble ON THE SURFACE. Character performances such as that deserve applause and recognition. Actions such as those are EASY TO PERFORM, since they don’t go against the establishment. After all, they don’t interfere with anything the Bankers and high powered corporations want. Simple as that. But I suggest that one take a closer look at how Mr. Romney performs when addressing concerns from the “establishment”, you know, those “elite” power-hungry-political-clout-filthy-rich individuals-who-usually-get-what-they-want types.
However, with that said, let me address a few other things.

    1) RON PAUL DOESN’T FLIP FLOP!!!
2)RON PAUL DOESN’T GIVE IN TO THE ESTABLISHMENT
    3) RON PAUL RISKED HIS LIFE FOR MANY OTHERS WHEN HE SERVED in the U.S. Military…something Romney hasn’t done.
    4) RON PAUL UNDERSTAND THE MILITARY MIND SET AND KNOWS WHAT SOLDIERS HAVE TO GO THROUGH AND WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH.
    5) RON PAUL WANTS TO SAVE AMERICAN SOLDIERS LIVES BY BRINGING THEM OUT OF HARMS WAY AND BACK HOME….something Romney may or may not do
    6) RON PAUL SPEAKS THE TRUTH ALL THE TIME
    7) RON PAUL HATES CORPORATISM, FACISM, COMMUNISM, SOCIALISM, AND ALL OTHER BAD FORMS OF GOVERNMENTS THAT DON’T WORK….Romney doesn’t know for sure which type of government he likes because he doesn’t like rocking the boat.
    8) DESPITE HIS AGE, HONORABLE DR. RON PAUL HAS GUTTS, STAMINA, INTERNAL FORTITUDE, COURAGE, DISCIPLINE, AND A HEART OF GOLD.

So, vote for Mr. Romney if you like since he has some “noble” characteristics. I am most certain that Mr. Romney did those things with true goodness in his heart. But I would just rather vote for a candidate that is CONSTANTLY NOBLE and doesn’t have to decide if it will be good for his character or not because he doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Sorry! If politics and the fate of our nation were not involved, I think Romney would make a great president. But we ARE NEAR THE BRINK AND THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF IS JUST INCHES AWAY. We need strength. Ron Paul is carrying the MAJORITY of the youth in this country and THAT IS WHERE OUR STRENGTH COMES FROM! THAT IS WHERE OUR FUTURE AS A NATION WILL COME FROM. I don’t want a president who is handsome and an all-around-good guy.

    We need RON PAUL.

    that’s my two cents

      Apr 16, 2012 16:13 PM

      Marc A,
Your “two cents” is worth so much more!
It is wonderful to see so many of the younger generation come alive with Ron Paul’s Honorable beliefs and goals. It’s also valuable to have someone that can be admired for integrity. Ron Paul is that someone.
      All the best!
      Jody D

You are too kind with the “very bright” and “valuable” comment. I am a lady, but not too young! I have a lonnnnnnng way to go to catch up with the experience and knowledge I enjoy soaking up on this site.
Thanks again for allowing us a place to go that is comfortable and supportive. I really enjoy the fact that no matter what the comments, positive discussion is promoted.

I heard that story reported too. Moving the vntiog to an “undisclosed” location was a problem and will continue to be a problem until the vntiog is actually counted in front of the voters.Perhaps now, there needs to be a system in place where voters receive a pin number every cycle that tells them what order the vote was cast and at what time. Too many times through history, things like this happen, because officials don’t want to spend the time to make sure it works or because they are promised money to not be as diligent. I trust Dr. Paul has heard of this and realizes that if he brings it up, he’ll be seen as a “sore” loser.PhilLeoxiii@me.com

give me a break with Romney already, he is a politician and consequently
an opportunist. Haven’t we all been hoodwinked to death?
How convenient this story is come out at this particular time,
coincidence? I don’t think so. shame on you Al for putting this BS up!
Oh and by the way Ron Paul is a wing man for Romney. Wake up America!
Shawn, JFK was part of the Mafia, do some research.

      Apr 16, 2012 16:11 PM

“Oh and by the way Ron Paul is a wing man for Romney.” -Absolute NONSENSE. Do some research yourself.

        Aug 26, 2012 26:54 PM

So why the beef with Romney? He gave you what you libs wanted: Socialized hltaeh care. He even went as far as offering the absurd comparison that hltaeh insurance is akin to car insurance. (Never mind that one can opt out of car insurance by not driving). There’s no pleasing you HCFA people is there?

          Aug 27, 2012 27:59 PM

          HI Kate,

No real beef with Romney other than I am not sure that he would make a great president. But then again, I also don’t support Obama’s agenda.

Oh well, it is what it is.

matthew and other Ron Paul supporters, the Ron Paul myth is over.

this is 38min. video: Ron Paul starts at 9:15
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2riaN5l4Gw

      Apr 17, 2012 17:53 AM

The only Ron Paul “myth” is the man himself. There was once a great bodybuilder named Sergio Oliva who constantly beat the pants off Schwartzenegger throughout the mid and late sixties. He was quiet, short, but UNBELIEVABLE in muscularity. He was a Cuba defector to the U.S. He was known as the MYTH because almost no one saw him and when they did they couldn’t believe it.
Ron Paul is the EXACT SAME WAY but only in his heart. The ONLY REASON PEOPLE KEEP SPOUTING THE RON PAUL “MYTH” IS SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND RON PAUL.
This constant garbage about Ron Paul “not knowing anything outside the constitution” is THE BIGGEST LOAD OF GARBAGE AND SIGNS OF A DESPERATE ATTEMPT at trying to advance another person’s or group’s personal agenda. Honestly! DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN STOP A NEW WORLD ORDER SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU VOTE IN MITT ROMNEY? DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU ARE GOING TO GET TO THE HEART OF THE 9/11 INCIDENT IF YOU ELECT ROMNEY??? You will only get the same government that is in power now if Romney is elected. Oh you MIGHT get a softer side of government but you won’t have nothing resolved. WE HAVE TO START BY ATTACKING THE ROOT, not by listening to people Webster Tarpley, who just LOVE TO GO AROUND AND FAN THE FLAMES OF CONSPIRACY because it makes money and stirs up feelings. Instead of listening to conspiring morons like the gentlemen in this audio, WHY DON’T YOU JUST CALL RON PAUL’S OFFICE and ask him to clarify what he is talking about. And if you don’t like what he says, please by all means, go and find some more videos/audios, or conspiracy theorists who will massage your fantasies and stir up those inner feelings that have very little, IF NOTHING to do with getting our country back on track. Please, why don’t we all just campaign for Tarpley? Since he ONLY speaks the truth! yeah right

      Apr 17, 2012 17:59 AM

I also find it HUMOROUS to no end, seeing all these people worried about a NWO and a one world currency, yet THEY THEMSELVES CAN’T EVEN QUOTE A SINGLE LAW FROM THE BILL OF RIGHTS! They want to stop the NWO but they don’t even know their own Law that was given to them through the blood of our Founding Fathers, a LAW THAT WOULD PREVENT A N.W.O. from occurring in this country. So, if you want to get to the bottom of this, I would suggest that educating the people is a really great step.

        Apr 17, 2012 17:24 AM

        Mark Alan…..thanks for the comments,,GREAAT POST…..

      Apr 17, 2012 17:00 AM

Not ANOTHER gullible Tarpley follower! Absolutely ALL of Paul’s track record makes Tarp’s claims worse than absurd. Tarp’s job is to fool the fools -and there’s apparently no shortage of those.

Ron Paul is transparent, what you see is what you get, without the hype.

Ron Paul is a complete idiot and his cult forelwlos (Paulamites) are just a bunch of weirdos that chase after Bigfoot and think Little Green Aliens in UFO’s are going to invade us. They are the 9-11 Truthers that think Bush blew up the WTC Towers as well as being Birthers believing Obama was born in Kenya. The truth is Ron Paul is very supportive of Al Qaed. Ron Paul is a joke and will never be the GOP Nominee. Anyone who votes for Ron Paul is wasting their vote.
