Be Prepared and Average In. IMHO It’s better to average in your preparation over time rather than expend a lot of time and money and wished you changed your mind. So for food and water, start by getting enough for a week’s emergency. Then add to it evey week. Account for each member of the family, not just yourself. Remember matches, candles, cleaning supplies, not just food. How would you survive on just what you have without going to the store for 4 weeks or more? What if all of the wage earners lost their jobs for a time? Do you have a backup plan? Gerald Celente’s plan is guns, gold and a getaway plan. Most of us can do well with just some common sense preparation and some planning for a natural disaster type of event.

not to forget powdered milk, spam, waterproof matches, batteries, and something I am doing to convince some neighbours to get into it and we all have our zone of responsibilities.

More and more I am buying silver coins of 1/4 oz. that will be good for bartering bread and groceries rather than buying only 1 oz. coins.

      Morning James C,

Common sense is the key, of course. That seems to be what Suzanne is all about.

      Best,

@James – All you say makes sense. If we really experience the SHTF, similar to Greece, or Islande, or slow degradation (although still fast) like France, England, Spain… Knowing our neighbors, talking to them, and developing the feel of a close knit community will have its rewards as well.

This guy has the right approach, balanced, yet not in the wishful thinking camp – exponential debt expansion for a debt based monetary system can only lead to an eventual lost of confidence, followed by collapse, followed by the elite turning in their cards.

BTW Al, I’m very disappointing to hear you don`t have your own bunker yet. The blonde lady is counting on you 🙂

      Morning again Missive,

I think that we are okay. (By the way, how to I insert the smiley face!)

I would rather have food & water than gold % silver in multiple scenarios.

      Morning Dennis M,

      Great old tv show!

By the way, you willing to come back on the show?

A couple of 20 gauge shotguns, plenty of ammo, extra amounts of 5 gallon gas containers to run the generators, and tractors; food in cans a must, I think what James B Canada, said about smaller amts. quarter size silver, and I think in gold(tenth`s) too for bartering for food and fuel is a good idea during/after the crash of the dollar. But knowing the neighbours are not going to help too much since I live on a ranch and most that I know are real jerks, having weapons(guns) are a real comfort anytime in good times or bad times where I live, we have mountain lions, wild pigs, nasty people.

      Apr 28, 2012 28:34 AM

      Morning Den,

I am a strong believer in the right to bear arms. I do believe; however, that there is a great responsibility that goes along with that. I’ll bet that you do too!

And don’t forget…..clean underwear and socks!

      Apr 27, 2012 27:20 PM

Must have and do not forget Jack Daniels. The great thing about Jack Daniels is the square bottles make for more efficient storage plus it provides a great accent with squirrel & white rice.

        Uhmm Uhhmmm Good! My favorite!

        Apr 27, 2012 27:24 PM

Can’t it also help kill germs if you run out of rubbing alcohol ?

          Apr 28, 2012 28:36 AM

Common guys, let’s be serious. A good store of a great red wine!

Very interesting & timely interview Al. As I have mentioned before I have been prepping on behalf of my family (my wife started thinking I was nuts but not so much now she is seeing what is happening to Greece!) for about 18 months now. The site you mentioned appears to predominantly sell supplies.

There is a site I have been going to almost daily for real news that is not found in the mainstream. This guy called Stan Deyo has buckets of free prepper information on his site on the ‘free prep info’ tab at the top left hand side of his site. Check him out before splashing out on loads of stuff. Much of the stuff you can do yourself for free & with a little effort. He also does radio interviews.

May I suggest a radio show he did just 2 weeks ago which has loads of info. He is not out to make a quick buck but to educate people. The link is:

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/omegamanradio/2012/04/19/episode-641-stan-and-holly-deyo–preps

As I have said before, preparing for ourselves & loved ones financially is great but we can’t eat or drink silver rounds. We need both. But most important of all is to be prepared spiritually. Our guns, gold & grub will only get us so far. We need our God through Jesus Christ FIRST.

BTW, I have done big rucksacks in case we need to split quick for everyone in the house with clothes, cash, simple cooking stove, dried food, medicines & other stuff. For food we have tins, packets of dried pulses/beans/rice. Water is essential. You don’t have to buy bottled water either!

I would urge people here please do not delay. Get started now.

      Apr 28, 2012 28:27 AM

I forgot, Stan Deyo’s website is simply:

      Morning naomal,

      Thanks for the comment.

My interest in talking with Suzanne was that I appreciated her common sense.

I will listen to the radio segment you posted above and try to get hold of Mr. Deyo. Thanks for the tip!

        Apr 28, 2012 28:37 PM

        Thanks for your interest Al.

Don’t know if you will read this as it is now saturday evening in the uk BUT, Stan Deyo was one of the first preppers some 3 decades ago with another of his aquaintances called Steve Quayle (who also has done loads of radio). http://www.stevequayle.com is his address if you are interested. Those 2 would get you a bucket load of comments on your blog i am sure with regard to the whole prepping scenario.

    Apr 28, 2012 28:36 AM

    THIS SOUNDS SCARY.
BOMB SHELTERS! IS THERE SOMETHING WE DONT KNOW ABOUT HERE IN THE UK

      Apr 28, 2012 28:40 AM

      Morning Martin,

Please don’t get excited. It is all about common sense. Some people are convinced that you need your own underground shelter.

I am convinced that this is not necessary. I am not being judgmental here, I am just saying that I personally don’t go that far.

      Best to you as always,

      Big Al

    Heu?

A military team from Russia will go to the US in May for a joint anti-terror exercise, a Russian defence ministry official said.

    Al.

Have a talk with Jack at the survival podcast as well. My guess is you`ll appreciate his approach and his sense of priority. His stuff is a little closer to home in my view.

    Apr 28, 2012 28:46 AM

looks like they are on your website 🙂

    Apr 28, 2012 28:09 AM

    Heu again?

Most of these exercise are used to filter out those who won`t go along and promote those who will blindly follow orders.

The exercise will be primarily a Command Post Exercise, but there will be field training events within the exercise. Those events will take place in North Dakota, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, Connecticut and Nova Scotia and involve United States and Canadian military units.
