Any write-in vote will give Obama one vote closer to another term.

      Sandy:

      Couldn’t agree with you more!

      Jul 30, 2012 30:55 PM

      Sandy,
I agree!! This election is about the removal of Obama and his radical agenda.

    Jul 30, 2012 30:17 PM

Btw, for me it is Ron Paul again.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:49 PM

      Bobby:

Have no idea on your background or age or where you from.but, with respect, we have tangled before.

Actually, Paul and Romney have some things in common and hopefully they will be able to work things out.

      Best.

    Jul 30, 2012 30:36 PM

My opinion might have changed a little. Due to the conversations here.
It is still obvious to me that Romney and Obama are clones of each other disguised as differant colors. Alot of dieing and slavery going to happen with either one of them.
Interesting what Romney was promising Isreal,Attempting to one up Obama maybe?
I have changed from write in Ron Paul, to vote for Bill Still, Rosanne Barr if possible or write in Ron Paul.
There is no way I would vote for either of those psychopaths. Both want to do away with liberty and enslave the american people, and the world for that matter.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:11 PM

WILL Rosanne Barr sing at her inaugural….if she wins….

        Jul 30, 2012 30:13 PM

Rosanne is the reason, I DO NOT WATCH BASEBALL ANY MORE…..

          Jul 30, 2012 30:44 PM

          Jerry,

Her run reminds me of Pat Paulson’s run. I doubt anyone but Al is old enough to remember him.

            Jul 30, 2012 30:23 PM

            Bobby,,,
I don’t know, but, I think there are more older people than you think…..that listen to “OLD AL”…..

    Jul 30, 2012 30:46 PM

I would prefer a candidate with Paul’s outlook on the domestic economy and the Federal Reserve. Am I excited about Romney—-no, however, I’m more excited about him then Mc Cain. To me, unfortunately, it’s “anybody but Obama”. This guy is a threat to this country not only from an economic standpoint but more importantly from a personal liberty standpoint. The only thing that can save us if Obama is re-elected is if the country implodes economically and we have to start over again. Otherwise, you can expect to slowly cascade down into a European type of malaise and ultimate destruction anyway. Neither the Republican Party or the Democratic Party “gets it”. We need to get back to limited government and a government that is no longer controlled by big business and/or special interests but is focused on the middle class and “real” free enterprise and capitalism and not cronyism. Would Romney get that—I don’t know but I do know he would be better then Obama.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:37 PM

      Richard:

I agree with nearly everything you say but Obama must go.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:24 PM

      Doc,

You guys are ganging up on me and I am starting to agree with you!

      Big Al

    Jul 30, 2012 30:53 PM

Well, Al, gold certainly has not taken off (yet) like TR thought. However, I personally like it’s movement. The momentum indicators have now turned up which is a good sign and I believe we may move higher into the “large range” for awhile. However, I believe we’re still going to trade sideways for some time. That’s good since it’s a good possibility we’ve seen the lows. When we do break out of this range someday, it’ll be significant due to the long period of consolidation. We’ve moved even closer to the 200 week MA of the Dow/Gold ratio and something significant should happen in the markets the closer we get to that MA.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:23 PM

      Agree with you, Doc!

    Jul 30, 2012 30:56 PM

    Thanks Al for the plug
…..YOU ARE CORRECT ,I am down on sports, and have been since 1979 . SPORTS, AS IN ROMAN TIMES….IS KEEPING THE SHEEPLE BUSY….While the governments around the world are debasing the currencies, and the world is a happy place……..(if you got gold)
2000 years later and the Olympics, are a reminder of people not knowing the past, and doomed to repeat the same……

      Jul 30, 2012 30:48 PM

      Jerry,
I still like much of the Olympic Games, however, allowing professionals has degraded them quite a bit.

        Jul 30, 2012 30:52 PM

BTW, Keep an eye on Jen Kessy, womens beach volleyball. She worked for me at my real estate firm in San Clemente, CA. She is tied for the second oldest woman on the US team.

I will try and catch a looksee on the volleyball.

No, I am not THAT old.

          Jul 30, 2012 30:08 PM

          Bobby:

I found out today that my oldest daughter,(30) with a lot of prying, rode Ann Romney’s Olympic horse many times excercising the horse on trail rides when she was working in California in the same stable. She had nothing but nice things to say about Mrs. Romney and her Olympic horse!

            Jul 30, 2012 30:15 PM

I certainly have nothing bad to say about them either.

            Jul 30, 2012 30:42 PM

            Good point, Dai.

            Thanks for bringing it up.

Hi Bobby, I stopped watching professional hockey over 25 years ago because I can’t stand the violence and I think it is a bad example for younger generations. I love the game but the amount and kind of violence that is allowed in hockey is way over the top, I don’t see this happening in other sports. If you watch Olympic hockey you will see how the game should be played and it is a great game when played properly.

        Jul 30, 2012 30:14 PM

Yeh, it really has Bobby. Kind of hard for me to think of James and Kobi as Olympic athletes.

        Big Al

    Jul 30, 2012 30:02 PM

Jerry OTB is spot on regarding the sports figures. There are exceptions but few and far. I would site Tim Tebow and Matt Stafford as two outstanding college athletes who can truly be admired. The 19 year old pitcher for the Orioles is another example of a fine young man. The NBA is a group of thugs and criminals as is some of the NFL. College isn’t far behind with the arrests, tats and other unsavory conduct off the field. Just my 2 cents and don’t need change.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:06 PM

    Al:

We and the Business community know what will happen with another 4 years of Obama except his madness will even be less restrained with continous legally dubious executive orders and non-Senatorily confirmed dingbat appointments and questionable further Supreme Court appointments. Write in Ron Paul if you want more of the past 4 years. Romney at least can better give the business community some predictability and confidence to invest and create jobs and try to get us moving again in the right direction although has task will be formidable. He is first and foremost, a businessman who understands the Capitalist system and he won’t be one who will further erode our Constitutional rights, in particuliar the First and Second Amendments.

Hollywood is disgraceful but wait until you see what NBC has lined up for Fall programming with a wide variety of innappropriate sexual and violent themes and we wonder why people go off the deep edge.

BTW: Found the only Weiss rated A- bank in the State and will be opening up accounts in this smaller Tri Cities based bank within a couple of weeks.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:11 PM

      Alexander…………. PS:

If you want more sunshine and less violence, simply move over to the Right side of the Cascades and Cougar country. We don’t discriminate against repentant Huskies and Idaho but 5 minutes away. Montana but an hour away and 2 hours to the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

Although I’m not a golfer, at least of late, 3 courses within a 10 minute walk and 150 lakes within a 50 mile radius…………

Easy to understand why you not a Professional baseball fan; I wouldn’t be either if all I had to cheer on were the Mariners………..Am enjoying the wonderful Olympics though………I have a lot of faith and hope for these younger kids…….

For the first time in the nearly the past 4 years, I will once again proudly proclaim that I am an an Ameican Citizen after November………Let us all hope that Michelle doesn’t abscond with all the china and silverware………….

Iran , and Syria problems almost assure some war[small]. vote depends on what state you live in , My state Wash. will go for Obama 58%. so any vote i take, wont matter much, as the stupid electoral college, limits our power as voters. I may vote for Jill Stien-Green party . I am voting Repub for Gov. and Dem for congress and Sen Maria Cantwell D for US senate. I like Ron Paul . In the past i voted x2 for Ross Peroit. In europe , they limit the time of elections, and tv time is not bought , its alloted 20 min. segments for about 2 hrs. each party gets the same amt. of min on air, and order of spraking , by drawn lot. It worked fine in England. best to all S

      Jul 30, 2012 30:39 PM

Consider the source. A vote for the Green party is a vote for Agenda 21.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:12 PM

      Hi Scott,

In the past I would have agreed with you regarding the presidential race. This time I am not so sure.

I have studied the gubernatorial race more this year than in the past. I came to the same conclusion that you did in this instance.

You know it funny, I still don’t know what to think about Patty Murray. When Linda ran against her, which was a mistake, I certainly voted for Linda. We got to know her when we lived in Vancouver, Wa and, let me tell you she is one great lady.

So I looked up what concerned contributor Karen claimed was a laudable organization, and what they actually did.
Turns out that the “Legion of Decency” – who’d guess that in 1933, Catholicism didn’t find more pressing issues to work on? – was basically continuing the Vatican tradition of censorship in trying to remove content from the public view which they did not like:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_condemned_by_the_Legion_of_Decency

While I don’t think all of the movies listed are worth seeing, and many of them were not, and still are not suited for an immature audience, the fact that some of the films are considered cinematic art or classics by now, is reason enough to be very suspicious of any efforts to hypocritically deny freedom of expression because of “immorality.” Selecting beneficial audiovisual materials, be it entertainment, educational, or documentary, for yourself or your children, is not as simple as clinging to ratings or lists written by some supposed moral authority.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:10 PM

When someone at the local tavern fires the cliche “we should not talk about politics and religion at a bar!”
I like to respond with “then let us talk about art….I’ll start!….What is art?”
Within minutes we are talking about politics and religon.
      Works every time!

The point being individuals demanded some sort of moral code in what was being shown.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:07 PM

      Hi impeachemall,

I do not disagree one whit! I simply have decided to stop watching movies that are over the top in their violence!

Now, here is an interesting confession that I must make. I think that Pulp Fiction was truly a classic piece of film work. I have watched this movie many times. Extremely violent.

I thought it was real art because of the definition of “pulp fiction” at the beginning of the movie. Now, his other movies I found to be stupid.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:08 PM

It’s an interesting discussion. Though keep in mind that in 1933, women’s bathing suits had finally just gone from ankle-length to ABOVE the knee! Shocking!! It was a different time.

        Jul 31, 2012 31:05 AM

John W. combine your knee length bathing suits combined with with the then limited forms of contraception. They must have been long cold summers.

    Jul 30, 2012 30:06 PM

The media is only responsible for a small part of the violence in American society and I find it ridiculous to single them out when hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens have been killed since the Invasion of Iraq, not to mention the American casualties and then on top of this we have many more hundreds of thousands of innocents maimed and wounded. Pardon me but where were those weapons of mass destruction. Clearly insanity!!!

How many people have died in Afghanistan over the 11 years since this war started. For me that is where people have really lost their moral compass in The US. How can you possibly expect a nation to be law abiding when they wantonly destroy the millions of lives of so many others.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:24 PM

          Jul 30, 2012 30:27 PM

    1. One of the costs of democracy is free speech. You cannot stop the entertainment industry any more than you can stop one the networks. I agree that I do find some of the content destructive to youth and society in general.
    2. The county is too financially weak for any President to make a significant change. You are fooling yourself to think there will be wholesale changes overnight with any change in leadership. The one area THAT IS influenced is the Supreme Court. Depending on your point of view, that is where the real choice of direction is made. So who is appointed makes a huge difference as we have just seen.
    3. We have chosen to support corporate welfare for professional athletic teams. A team threatens to leave a city unless the public pays for a new stadium with guaranteed revenue from corporate suites. This translates into new taxes which in turn translates into ridiculous prices. Last summer, I was in Cleveland and went with a friend to watch The Tribe play the Yankees. There were a lot of Yankee fans. Why? Because the NY tickets are so expensive, it is cheaper to fly to Cleveland, get a hotel room and pay to watch the game at Progressive Field.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:47 PM

“free speech” ……ludeness and vulgarity…..there is a difference to common curtisy.
a foul mouth, and running around naked….is an insult to some, and common sense
tells you that it is not good for society as a whole…..I think they call that morals….
and without self control, you are out of control……

      Jul 30, 2012 30:54 PM

      Hi Jed,

Yep, one of the costs of democracy is certainly freedom of speech. I would not change that for anything!

I think that both of the front runners have very different agendas. That is what it really boils down to in November. You have to vote for the agenda that suits you best.

I had an interesting experience watching the Yankees play the Mariners in Yankee Stadium last May. In New York, I could actually afford to buy a beer!

Contrary to popular opinion, as an aside, I found the Yankee fans to be great people.

When I was younger, life was a lot more magical. As some singer says…”life goes on long after the thrill is gone.” I really need to keep my positive attitude healthy….I don’t want to be singing that as I age. Of course, everyone MUST vote.

The only thing good about the NFL, as I understand it, is that there is no such thing as a no-cut contract. Am I correct?

        Gee Big Al,
        I really dont know.

    Jul 30, 2012 30:38 PM

    Hi Big Al,
I’m writing in Mr. Ron Paul for many reasons, and I like his investment portfolio.
The free money created in the USA will continue because people will demand it.
The corruption of America will continue until it is too late. Best to all.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:44 PM

You could very well be right, Keep!

    Jul 30, 2012 30:25 PM

AL, How interesting and ironic your statement in the beginning of this segment you talk about some of your family disagreeing with your position on the negative influence the entertainment business has on everyone. With no pun intended you say that “I have to stick to my guns” . A good example of how programmed and accustomed we all have become in terms of accepting this condition, not because we want to but because unconsciously it has become a part of us. We were all given the kool aid at a very young age and even today,
it is much worse with the native digital generation.

      Jul 30, 2012 30:40 PM

Thanks for bringing this up Nancy.

      You are 100% correct!

    Jul 30, 2012 30:34 PM

VOTING: East wing, west wing, same bird, same Establishment. You want reform, focus on the Top. At its core, the whole process is a con. I don’t participate.

ORGANIZED SPORTS / Entertainment Industry in General: “Plays, farces, spectacles, gladiators, strange beasts, medals, pictures, and other such opiates, these were for ancient peoples the bait toward slavery, the price of their liberty, the instruments of tyranny. By these practices and enticements the ancient dictators so successfully lulled their subjects under the yoke, that the stupefied peoples, fascinated by the pastimes and vain pleasures flashed before their eyes, learned subservience as naively, but not so creditably, as little children learn to read by looking at bright picture books. Roman tyrants invented a further refinement. They often provided the city wards with feasts to cajole the rabble, always more readily tempted by the pleasure of eating than by anything else. The most intelligent and understanding amongst them would not have quit his soup bowl to recover the liberty of the Republic of Plato. Tyrants would distribute largess, a bushel of wheat, a gallon of wine, and a sesterce: and then everybody would shamelessly cry, ‘Long live the King!’ The fools did not realize that they were merely recovering a portion of their own property, and that their ruler could not have given them what they were receiving without having first taken it from them.” – Etienne de La Boétie, Discourse on Voluntary Servitude, 1548

That anyone would disagree with the observation that the entertainment industry is an instrument of degradation and subjugation is merely evidence that they have never really thought about it.

I completely agree with those who believe that Dr Paul (the OB doc) would be the best president we could elect in 2012, but this is not to be. No matter how many write in his name, those who touch a screen for one of the 2 mass media candidates will out vote those who write in Dr Paul. I thus reluctantly come to the conclusion that Dr Ron Paul is not going to become President Paul (though there is time for Dr Paul the Ophtho doc).

Be that as it may, it occurred to me that getting Dr Paul (the OB doc) into the government in a capacity other than President could be a good compromise. Which of the 2 mass media candidates would consider having Dr Paul in their administration (perhaps as Sec of the Treasury)? Probably not the current incumbent dear high exalted mystic ruler….but perhaps the challenger would consider Dr Paul……is that a way to get Dr Paul inside the next administration?

      Jul 31, 2012 31:11 AM

      Tex,

I completely agree with what you are saying.

Hi Big Al, I`m going to have to keep my power dry on whom I`m voting for until I know how Ron Paul is going, as to how we is voting for himself or has joined the Mitt Romney crowd in some capacity, he knows best as to what to do in that department. When he get`s to the convention that will be the place to be if your into sports if you get my drift. It`s going to be a zoo. Ron Paul got 5 or 6 states and some 400 delegates, and more I bet undercover that Romney is seeing that are his in his ranks. The GOP/RNC/Obama are running scared that Ron Paul may pull it off and be the runner-up instead of what people think that Ronmey has been, claiming he, is the nominee. It`s going to be interesting for sure better than TV. Obama is so DANGEROUS, he put off Clinton from pushing for that UN gun control package until after the general election was over. If and when is a UN deal is the law, its over for our Bill of Rights. After Dec. 31, 2012 the tax increases will be in on everybody. Department of Homeland Security has 7.5 years worth of hollow-point ammo enough for I`m told to wage war on Americans within our borders for the next 7 years or so, using mercenaries. Obama`s new NSA listening post will be running monitoring all cell phones, data from all sources available, emails, everything…the police state will be a fact of life for people living in 2013 if and when Obama wins. Dr. Ron Paul knows this, that`s why he is going that extra mile this time around. Time is so short for us all, for us losing so much so soon. Why go and see a horror flick at the movies when we are living with such horror now in the United States, better to think of just about anything else than that. Gold, silver, precious metals, business are worth-while escapes from reality.

HEY Irish and Jerry OR Jerry and Irish,
Don’t want to get you guys jealous of each other or anything. Don’t you guys find it a bit ironic that the world is playing games at a time when we are on the cusp of a financial nightmare? Additionally, China is having a great showing and it seems they are on par to really dominate the global world of economics, might, muscle and sport. The thing that people miss about the Chinese though, is that, historically, they are not a very aggressive people. They rise when others simply fall. If you hang around long enough, like the Chinese, they will come out on top because of their perseverance and long term strategies for global policy making. Am I proud to be an American? Sure, I do love this country. But, I don’t like what we are doing at this point in time. We could sure take some pointers from the East!
          Marc
BTW, I ONLY review for content not grammar – if I did grammar I would not read your stuff….you guys are intelligent, funny dudes….but editors…no.. HA!! :).

            Jul 31, 2012 31:59 AM

Marc……Irish, did not know how to take your comment……you do understand that we talk in code….just in case, Michelle and Barry happen to be reading our material….
Barry is a Big FAN of THE IRISH…., nOT MANY IRISH KENYONS….YA KNOW….

            Jul 31, 2012 31:22 PM

Nice comments MARC…..The Brits have not won a GOLD yet…Perhaps they are been couched by ….Mr i don’t want any Gold Gordon Brown.

      Jul 31, 2012 31:43 AM

      Morning Mr. Irish,

I agree with you on all the above except, “don’t waste your vote”.

Everyone has to vote so that there is at least a possibility for change in the right direction.

      Big Al

    Jul 31, 2012 31:46 AM

Jerry the only time I have trouble ordering french doors from a manufacturer is when I substitute the bevelled glass pains for 2-way mirrors, does this sound familiar.

      Jul 31, 2012 31:56 AM

shawn…I have not tried the two way mirrors , yet ,but, Irish has, and said the queen objected to his idea…..

        Jul 31, 2012 31:31 PM

Yeah……likes she objects to all my good ideas. I advised her to ride into the Olympic stadium on a chariot dressed as BOADICEA, & light the flame herself……….& what does she go and do …..jumps from a helicopter, ( that she borrowed from Bernanke ), How naff was that

          Jul 31, 2012 31:50 PM

at her age, it is not wise to get to close to open flames…..if she accidently passed gas, well, baby , that is all she wrote, and your advise would not be held kindly by the queens court….

    Jul 31, 2012 31:28 AM

Yesterday, I read (sorry, can’t remember where) that Ron Paul may be asked to become Secretary of Treasury if Romney is elected. In my opinion, that would be the best person ever for that position. Agree with Karen re: the entire Obama administration. Romney would no doubt fill his cabinet with competent HONEST people…unlike Obama!

      Jul 31, 2012 31:39 AM

      Morning Sandy,

I will comment on this later today in a Daily Editorial.

      Big Al

      Jul 31, 2012 31:46 AM

Hi Sandy, Do you remember when Chamberlain had to step aside for Churchill; finally the people realized they were being duped and this was only after Chamberlain returned from Munich declaring peace in our time.

I believe Dr. Ron Paul will only get an important position after I crisis; but I would prefer it your way.

        Jul 31, 2012 31:49 PM

I agree Shawn. Paul would be a ‘trophy Secretary’. I doubt he could (or would be allowed) to do anything outside status quo.

          Jul 31, 2012 31:11 PM

John….is that anything like a “trophy wife”….that the politicans talk about….
or could that be misconstrude as reverse age discimination.

            Jul 31, 2012 31:50 PM

I just saw William Shatner walking with his trophy wife at the mall, all he could say was “REALLY”; at least it wasn’t “weird or what”.

    Jul 31, 2012 31:56 AM

    Shawn,
I’m not quite old enough to remember that.

    Jul 31, 2012 31:30 PM

Wave counts now say Monday 8-6-12 is gold take-off day. Silver has been better than recent gold behaviour (past few days) looks like catch-up to me. Obama is re-elected as more voters vote for handouts rather than common sense. Obama might be impreached or have a nervous breakdown under the strain. Worse yet his finger is on the red nuclear button that won’t get pushed but we see Iran attacked in Wag-The-Dog- PR-Media stunt to win the election or temporarily solve Greater Depression II problems. Not the end of the world just more waste, higher taxes, lawsuits flying in Washington DC, and a do nothing Congress. Watch for a new FORECAST WITH OTHER PREDICTIONS COMING FROM TRADERROG

      Jul 31, 2012 31:53 PM

      ROGER , there is a great artical on wave count, Sinclair, and Alf…..(today 7-31}
looks like we could be off to the races……$4500 gold…..
