We put together a great dinner on Saturday night in San Francisco where a number of us weighed in on the subject of where we believe the country is going.

The video, in its entirety, will be available for viewing by Thanksgiving.

We began with Jeff Deist and here is what he had to say.

JEFF……..I as an outsider AGREE with you 100%…The American people with their eye’s closed , missed a great opportunity to make their country great once more by ignoring the “ONE CANDIDATE THAT WAS ON “THEIR SIDE”…..Tell the “MAN” to enjoy his retirement with his family.

      Nov 20, 2012 20:24 PM

BTW……I believe his foreign policy was correct………Think about it Americans.

        Nov 20, 2012 20:51 PM

BTW, Mr. Irish, I completely agree with you.

We are not policemen or saviors. We are just like everyone else!

      Mr. Irish,

I have it from a very positive source that his direction will change but certainly not his ideas. And that, he is far from retiring!

It is such a pleasure listening to people like Mr. Deist. Thank you for sharing. But I think the people have switched from “Don’t Tread On Me” to “Don’t Tread On My Entitlements” and “Don’t Trouble Me With Negative News.” For a large segment in all Western nations, the national identity has changed in all the dark, fundamental ways that concern people of conscience. It will be interesting to see how government responds when the public realizes its comforts are not boundless.

      Morning Lore,

Yes you are correct. Jeff does not mince any words.

“There is a reason that the rest of the world follows American politics.
It is because we are bombing the s**t out of them.“

Deist is brutally honest, yet, Americans accept what their country has long since become.

      Nov 21, 2012 21:24 AM

Not all Americans have accepted this Tyranny, Mr. Matt.
What began with the faithful few is growing exponentially around the globe..
Individually one knows and is renewed with the Spirit of Freedom.
No, Matt, we have become many.
Like the good doctor said, “Freedom is contagious.”.

        Nov 21, 2012 21:02 AM

Yes Linda, freedom is definitely contagious!

We are not the majority yet, but we are growing in numbers!

        Best,

        Big Al

        Nov 21, 2012 21:29 AM

ditto……Linda….FREEDOM….and that is the way it has always been…..

        Nov 21, 2012 21:21 PM

Linda ,American tyranny has gone on for a century now-across the globe.
It is time Americans started supporting the rest of the human race their military is killing on this planet.

          Nov 21, 2012 21:25 PM

Matt…..I agree with you on the tyranny of the few…who think they represent the masses…..I think Eisenhower said it correctly…..

Well, I agree with most of what you say, except I think you’re missing a contradiction. You’re correct in saying that politics doesn’t lead, it follows, yet you say it is the culture that leads. But as the culture is in the downward spiral that it is, how can the liberty impulse survive? In economics there is Gresham’s Law, and I think that Gresham’s Law has taken over the entire culture! We’re in a race to the bottom!

      Nov 21, 2012 21:03 AM

Maybe you are correct Steven, but I certainly hope not. (As I believe you also hope!)

Things always change over time. The big question here is “just what is the time frame?”

Congratulations, Mr. Deist—Your statement is crystal clear and absolutely accurate – exactly the same as the honorable Dr. Ron Paul’s. I have been a fan of Dr. Paul for over 33 years now since I first learned his meassage. Back then – I said to myself ‘This is the guy we need to be President!’ – like R P himself, nothing has changed. IMO U No Who

I wish I could be more optimistic concerning America in general waking up. As was pointed out in the above post, this nation’s voters had ample proof that over the last 16 or so years we have had both parties represented equally in our presidency, and neither are we better off for it, nor is there any evidence that either ‘Party’ performed differently, nor is there any evidence that Americans learned their lesson. Far from it. If anything, this most recent election showed that the American voter is MORE clueless and irresponsible than ever. The one silver lining was the advent of the YOUNG voters coming out in record numbers for Ron Paul, and even they were marginalized by both ‘Party’ regimes as being less than deserving of any notice other than contempt. The rise of Evangelical religion and its attempts to replace science with Bronze-Age, Dark-Age myths and spiritualism is – incredibly – gaining footholds in schools all over the country. As such, is it any wonder our young have gone from being some of the brightest minds in the world to barely above ‘Third World’ levels. Additionally, a Fascist-type reverence for all things ‘Military’ and a common blood-lust to cheer that military’s demonstrably illegal actions in support of verifialby criminal acts committed by “our” leaders is frighteningly similar to any tin-pot dictatorial regime one can name. Simply put, things have not gotten bad enough for the average American. One wonders just how bad will it have to get before ‘Boobus’ wakes up?

      Nov 21, 2012 21:00 AM

      Morning Pat Mason,

It has been my experience that the pendulum swings both ways eventually.

Like you, I don’t really care for the present direction. I do believe; however, that it will go back.

      Thanks for your comment,

      Big Al

    Nov 21, 2012 21:17 AM

I don’t think things will get better until our kids are no longer indoctrinated by the state for 12 or more years.

      Nov 21, 2012 21:08 AM

And that, Tesla921, is why our girls went to parochial schools.

Cost a bunch of bucks, but you know what? Today they are all (all three of them) successful; happy; and, responsible!

    Nov 21, 2012 21:04 PM

“God bless, guys”? Which god are you talking about, Jeff? My God who speaks to us in his Word, the Bible, says just the opposite of what Jeff is putting forth. Jeff says, “Freedom is the natural state” of man and that man has a “natural desire for liberty, a natural desire to be free.” This is ABSOLUTELY FALSE! Man’s natural desire is to sin (why do we need government?), and sin makes slaves of men. Politics doesn’t follow culture, politics is one element of culture, but where does culture come from? Culture is the manifestation of religion. When the masses reject the clear teaching of God in the Bible, the result is idolatry. Jeff may not know it but he has described idolatry very well: People “believe that which is preposterously untrue, that which is demonstrably untrue.” Until we submit to the Truth, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, we will continue to put our hope in the dead (objects of wood, stone, metal, even precious metal), and in doing so we will become like the objects we worship: deaf, dumb, and blind. Jeff has described the problem, and not very well, but he has not even hinted at the solution. The solution is the source of life Himself, Our Savior and LORD Jesus Christ. THAT is the Good News! If you want freedom and prosperity, believe on Him and repent of your wicked ways.

      Nov 21, 2012 21:26 PM

Trust me, Art, I really do. And, I might add that I have for a very long time.

Jeff was not referring to something quite as basic and important as Biblical teachings. He was a couple of notches down the food chain as far as his remarks were concerned.

Specifically, man does desire freedom but certainly not freedom from God. And you must remember that God did give each and everyone of us free will.

      Best to you,

      Big Al

        Nov 23, 2012 23:02 AM

Al, Al, man DOES desire freedom FROM God. Have you not read? “Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” (Genesis 3:8). “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5) “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Psalm 14:2,3) “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”

One cannot rightly understand government until he understands man. One cannot understand man until he sees his awful reflection in the Holy Scriptures. With all due respect, Al, as long as you and Jeff continue to preach the goodness of man, you are opposed to true freedom and, therefore, peace and prosperity too.

    Nov 21, 2012 21:43 PM

Americans, like Germans, were overwhelmingly pious Christians when they committed some of their greatest atrocities against mankind. So much for the good news that ignores destruction and death of fellow man.
You all might want to listen to Jim Sinclair (shortlisted for US Treasury Secretary during the Nixon administration):
    Good Morning Mr. Sinclair,
You mention that Hillary will probably be the next president. May I ask what indications have lead you to this possibility?
    CIGA Alex

    Alex,
All you had to do was to see her on TC today and you would have your answer. New hairdo, and no more frump. Also I am told this by people who know.
    Jim

In other words, there is no democracy in the US. It is a put up job so time to wake up.

      Nov 21, 2012 21:17 PM

I have heard that exact story about Mrs. Clinton from a completely different source when I was in San Francisco.

      Nov 22, 2012 22:51 AM

Another example of free will and man’s inhumanity to man.

Yes, no question about. The sin of using God as an excuse for an immoral act is inexcusable and will be paid for!
      Big Al

      Nov 22, 2012 22:53 PM

      Matt,

I know there’s strong feelings on this, but destruction and death you cite isn’t a teaching of “the good news”/Christianity. It’s the same old reason…greed (which itself is a subset of fear…the fear of not having enough). I don’t really want to get into this now, but I could list a long synopsis of wars from societies starting from the last decade to several millenia back. The short summary is man will always find an enabling cause to further his greed. I would say that’s what pious Christians try to overcome (and have been persecuted for two millenia for doing so, examples of which I could also write about). Moreover, I think comparing the Nazi regime to anything the United States has started (particularly given the good points of the US foreign policy, understandably overlooked today given the last 10 years) isn’t accurate. Chairman Mao probably killed more people than the Nazi’s during the red purges of 1950-53.

The problem won’t be solved until the true cause(s) are found and overcome.

        Nov 22, 2012 22:20 PM

Your last sentence, John W, really says it all!

        Big Al

      Nov 23, 2012 23:15 AM

The Good News does not ignore destruction and death. Indeed, it would not be good news unless it were contrasted against the bad news. Pious Christians, those who are Christians in deed and not merely in word, do not do atrocity, however, there are plenty of nominal Christians who do. I had never known personally a bigger liar or thief than when I went into business with a pastor from a local church, except myself prior to giving my life to Christ.

    Nov 21, 2012 21:50 PM

US Secretary of State is said to be the acting position for those that run America.
    The president is completely powerless.
If Hilary is placed in as the next president it is an ego issue.
    She has maximum power now.

      Nov 22, 2012 22:47 AM

      Hi Matt,

My friend you make a very interesting point.

Tell me why you think the Secretary of State has all the power.

      Thanks man,

      Big Al

    Nov 21, 2012 21:22 PM

Jim Sinclair is selling or has sold his spread in Connecticut while owning homes in Tanzania and India.
    Jim,
Would you address the recent hearing sponsored by the Treasury and Labor Department’s effort to nationalize the nation’s pension system and to eliminate private retirement accounts including IRAs and 401k plans?
    Many thanks,
    CIGA Phil
    Phil,
Yes, get out of them as fast as you can. Then get out of the system that would even consider such a thing.
    Jim

    Nov 22, 2012 22:37 PM

I think it’s time for Jeff Deist to run for Congress, get some ‘experience’ (so he cannot be called down for lack thereof, even though he seems more experienced than 90% of Congress already), and think about how far he might aspire to representing his country.

      Nov 22, 2012 22:19 PM

I have been telling him that for years, John W!
