Well what did we just hear, that we did not already know……
CONGRESSMAN Jones….has been there for 10 terms…..might he be part of the problem
after all, he does represent a military base state….with a lot of military men and women with retirement benefits,,,,which I am sure none of them are going to give up…., so, how is that going to deminish the budget, retirement ,,,they are not working, yet, drawing a nice sum of money……….Military is the biggest part of the pie, which needs to be cut…..sorry, but, I think there is a conflict of opinion….YES AFGANISTAN AND IRAQ we should not be there….BTW, HOW DID HE VOTE….?
WE DO NOT NEED ,,,,THE MARINES, ARMY, NAVY, THE AIRFORCE, NATIONAL GUARD, AND COAST GUARD, …….,this is a TO BIG TO FAIL BUSINESS……supporting the powerful, in their quest for riches……give me a break….START AND REDUCE THE TROOPS….
WE NEED NOT A VOLUNTEE ARMY with the idea of making a living being a full time soldier….,,,BUT, HOW ABOUT A TWO YEAR FOR EVERYONE ARMY…….min. wages,no benefits…except if you are wounded
    ….Oh…WAR IS A BUSINESS I FORGOT…SORRY…..JUST GOT OFF THE TURNUP TRUCK YESTERDAY…..oH, BTW, I put my six years in….and got out….without benefits…..OOTB…

.mad as hell and I am not going to take it any longer….(just kidding, besides someone else, said that)
PLEASE NO HATE MAIL…..unless you have served your country, and do not receive benefits…

Now on the good side….Congressman Jones….is the spear head for IMPEACHMENT FOR HIGH CRIMES committed by OBAMA…..see H.CON.RES 3…, so, I applaud this action by the Congressman . house bill read…..EXPRESSING THE SENSE OF CONGRESS THAT THE USE OF OFFENSIVE MILITARY FORCE BY A PRIESIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR AND CLEAR AUTHORIZATION OF AN ACT OF CONGRESS CONSTITUTES AND IMPEACHABLE HIGH CRIME AND MISDEMEANER UNDER ARTICAL II SEC. 4 OF THE CONSTITUION…..

Hi Jeff Deist & Al, this is off topic, but what do you think of the Precious Metal Purchasing Act to track who`s buying gold and this sounds like the step government wants to have your gold & of course your guns, to leave us here in America totally defenseless. With the TSA going like mad terrorizing people at the airports……Obama needs to be IMPEACHED! But with what ?? Congress ?

      Jan 17, 2013 17:53 PM

DISBAND THE TSA……that should save us billions…….plus the xray machines , which are an added health risk…..and untold savings in medicare cost…..that the seniors are exposed to, while flying to sunny local……to see the grand kids……

        Jan 19, 2013 19:51 PM

Okay, The Tall, now you are getting personal!

Jai, by degrading I am reenirrfg to the plethora of songs (and even books for that matter) that are devoid of artistic flair.Item numbers, in their treatment, are a cheap cinematic trick intended to be crowd-pullers. Since you’ve mentioned about the condescending view that the books might generate, I was trying to draw a parallel between (supposedly) inferior writing [my interest in such writing notwithstanding], and items songs that are intended to draw the attention of the masses.

      Dennis-
I think capital controls are inevitable in disintegrating nations. Registration and tracking of physical, portable assets is an important part of fencing us in.

Red Dust is one of my (many) favorite pre-Codes and your exeellcnt write-up was both entertaining and enlightening. (And your aside about the name Mordaunt literally made me laugh out loud.) Now, excuse me while I go read your treatment of Downstairs . . .

      Jan 19, 2013 19:48 PM

      Hi Dennis,

We addressed this in yesterday’s editorial.

Good point you made, by the way!

Hi there again all, plus another thought about the Precious Metal Purchasing Act that was issued in the state legislature of Chicago, Ill., on with the government wanting to know were our gold is at. You would wonder what Germany wants to know where their gold is too. This fact that GATA has been out for years wanting an audit of our gold here at home @ the Federal Reserve. I find it interesting that the Swiss Bank mints are falling short on orders for having enough gold on hand for minting coins. Perhaps the Federal Reserve has perhaps been loaning out gold from their vaults in Chicago & New York too much for comfort, I suspect, though I could be wrong, though my hunches do ring with some good logic I feel at times, given the fact the the FED are crooks, not to be trusted as far as you can through them……..

      Jan 17, 2013 17:30 PM

DENNIS……the congressman….is a member of the LIBERTY CAUCUS….also, called the LIBERTY COMMITTEE….Ron Paul was also, a member, so, maybe he will pass your comments along to the other members…..ootb

When you get Bill at RPM on can you ask him the recently announced expansion by CDE at Rochester will affect rpm and their claim.

“Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend of the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen onto any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man.” –
    Samuel Adams

I have no idea if Mr. Jones is a “wise and virtuous” man. I am sure he knows some who are, and he should encourage them to run for office at every level.

I suspect that all these unconstitutional bills are passed because a majority in congress can be easily blackmailed. Senior Congressmen should now plan to step down from office while preparing the full weight of their political machine to support “wise and virtuous” men and women to replace them.

I do like the scoring he gets from the liberty index published by “The New American” ( 100% last session and 97% overall)

      Jan 19, 2013 19:58 PM

I am pretty confident, Missive, that Jeff would not bring any guest on the show and endorse them if they were not in his camp philosophically.

    EVERY MAN A MAN?

    Jan 18, 2013 18:34 PM

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Ho Ho Ho, so says Mogambo!
    ‘Twas the night before Christmas
    In the No Name Saloon
    Mogambo is pontificating
    A wonderful tune

    The federal reserve
    He says with a sneer
    Is the reason I’m drinking
    Way too much beer

    Inflation is roaring
    I can’t pay the bill
    For this glass of crap
    That I call swill

    Obama’s on TV
    Trying to sell
    His despicable tax hike
    And send us to hell

    The supreme court jesters
    In their smart black robes
    Are telling the public
    “Bend over for probes”

    They’re like TSA agents
    Totally unabashed
    As our constitution
    They’ve entirely trashed

    “But wait Mogambo”
    Says a slovenly sot
    “I’ve got food stamps
    And I’ve got a lot!”

    “I’ll pay your tab
If you’ll get off the table
    One leg is weak
    It’s highly unstable”

    “At any moment
    It all could collapse
    And then Mogambo
    We’d be playing Taps”

    “At last you understand!”
    Said Mogambo with pride
    “A beer for my friend
    And me too” he cried

    This US economy
    My drunken friend
    Is just like this table
    That’s how it’ll all end

    The legs will buckle
    From too much weight
    A deadly plunge
    Is our terrible fate

There’ll be riots in the streets
    Houses they’ll plunder
But I’ll be holed up safe
    In my Mogambo bunker

    I’ve got firepower aplenty
    But none I can spare
    And pizza galore
What the hell do I care?

    Yummy beef tacos
    And pork products too
    And back in the corner
    More cases of brew

    I’m all decked out
    In my woodland camo
    Peering through the scope
    And feeding more ammo

    As the economy collapses
    From the halls of finance
    The zombie bankers
    Will make their advance

    But I’ll be ready
    In my underground bunker
    Sighting my weapons
    Shooting my neighbor’s clunker

    Brought back to the present
By a blast of cold air
As the bar door is opened
By a honey with blonde hair

    Mogambo pauses
    And buys her a drink
    And looking her way
    He gives her a wink

    “Disgusting”, she mutters
    “You’re much too old
    I don’t really care
If you’ve got all that gold”

    “A toast to your ignorance
    My blonde haired beauty
    I’ll take that drink back
    You’re much too snooty”

    All of you here
    Mogambo roars
    Will be rushing my bunker
    When inflation soars

    Shelves will be empty
    There’ll be no more food
    And then my dear lady
    You’ll think I look good

    As you all plunge down
    Through inflationary hell
With my gold, silver and oil
    I’ll be doing swell

    Like a mythical phoenix
    From the ashes I’ll rise
    Supreme Leader Mogambo
    Wealthy and wise

    I’ll rule over all
    With dictatorial power
    Beneath my iron fist
    The federal reserve will cower

    Sauntering to the door
    He smiles with glee
    Whee! Says Mogambo
    This investing stuff is easy!

      Jan 18, 2013 18:19 PM

WELL DONE IRISH……WELL DONE My friend.

        Jan 18, 2013 18:28 PM

        DITTO…..

          Jan 18, 2013 18:02 PM

ERRR…….You do realise , that was the GREAT MOGAMBO’s piece, i just posted it….

          Feb 02, 2014 02:55 PM

“but for the purposes of this rievew it’s worth pointing out how deeply Ibne Safi’s work has seeped into our popular culture…”I’m not alluding to the books, but if something degrading becomes the de rigueur, should that be the accepted norm? For example if some items numbers have a mass appeal, should they become “the standard” for lyricists and musicians? If the answer to the above question is yes, unfortunately there isn’t enough inspiration for budding artists, writers or film-makers to produce quality work. Creativity would then be sinking into an abyss of mediocrity.

      Jan 18, 2013 18:29 PM

      Irish,
I could read ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ quicker than reading your poem.
I must engage it fresh with coffee.
Ice cubed dinks in tumblers and lengthy poems do not mix unless romance is contemplated.

      Jan 19, 2013 19:04 PM

      Mr. Irish,

      Did you pen this?

      Big Al
