Bless you Jay, Alan, A. A phrase by Alexander Sozhenitsyn springs to mind here: ‘One word of truth outweighs the whole world’.

Evil always appears very formidable, very scary…but we who trust the Lord are told to BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE! Why, because evil always over-reaches itself!

It’s like in Egypt. True, the army broke the law by ousting Morsi. But Morsi broke the law by re-shaping the constitution as he saw fit. And the people rose up! So many stories in the Bible tell of God working through solitary voices that then become a great shout of rage. Think of Elijah, or David, or Gideon….the more they trusted God the more God overthrew his enemies.

We have NOTHIG to fear except fear itself!

    Blessings, Andrew

      Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn…my favorite quote….:
“Over a half century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of old people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.” Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

I can easily agree to this rant and see that behind the scenes the US has since WWII installed some means of surveillance within their old and new allies by contractual consent.
Meantime, after the Cold War, this should have become obsolete, though like f.i. pricing oil in US Dollars the hegemonial Reserve Status would have slowly eroded, if the US also had to give up its asperations as the main and only world power.

As inroads into the reserve status have already weakened the US economic power substantially, the giant started to tread on every potential aggressor from outside and now even from within, disregarding its own great constitution of personal liberty, towards a fascist type of cooperation between corporate (mostly defense related) and political dictatorship.

Once the globe’s envied, admired and prone to imitate the US in its self-confidence it seemed the tower of personal guarantees of liberty was beginning to shake; And so was the US Constitution, the confidence of its allies and lastly the belief of and on an Imperial design trying to walk the walk of pure capitalist, social market economy or fascistoid cum communist directed markets.
Markets, we already see, as they’re only function by and on FED-Speak, major Bankster fraud and lastly on the opposite of general known principals.
Goodbye to free markets and lets find real prices again … by true barter!

    Al:

We need a new holiday in this country. We could simply call it Star Chamber Day. Perhaps it could replace Independence Day.

The Supremes have ruled in favor of continual corruption by throwing out term limits and any meaningful campaign financial reform.

Our best hope is for every American, irrespective of their political affiliation, to join in voluntary bipartisian fashion to refuse to support or vote for any Senatorial candidate who has served 2 terms or for any member of the House, 3 terms. Somehow we must eliminate lifetime pensions for those who have served as little as one term. Furthermore, there should be a 5 year ban for any former member of Congress lobbying the same institution where he or she has previously served.

Not an impossible task as it may have been 10 years ago in this new era of instant and widespread communications provided of course that NSA or the FCC doesn’t start closing down sites……………………….

It is obvious to many that we are at an unprecedented crossroad in terms of preserving our Liberties and our precious Constitutional rights; so far the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, Tenth and Fourteenth amendments, to name a few, are in the process of permanent erosion or God forbid, elimination.

And to our buddies at the NSA; have a good day.

      Jul 13, 2013 13:04 AM

To our buddies at the NSA….& every other evil unit…..Your day of reckoning will come , & it wont be pleasant , & it may not be by the hand of GOD…..so yes have a nice day while you still can………

Its facism, tyranny, pure and simple. I have said for some time, the conversation shouldnt be about what it is, thats obvious, but about how to end it. Thing is, alot of people are going to believe its a good thing. Remember, there are alot of “gung ho” patriots out there that believe their government can do no wrong. That the Bush family is good people etc.
A very hard thing to stop it now. Maybe impossible.

Unfortunately, patriots are allowing themselves to labelled as Kooks, odd-balls, tea-baggers, nuts, etc.

We need to stop that characterization.
We need to start labelling our politicians as corrupt, slimeballs, incompetent scum, etc. We must not allow them to get away with taking over the Constitution.
The thin end of the wedge has been driven in. I detest this divide and conquer technique set up by the Devil Incarnate from the very start of his administration.
He seized powers to act like an emperor from the get-go. And no one spoke out; no one still speaks out. It was pamphleteers that started the Boston Tea Party, it will be
people speaking out that take back the country.
As a devout coward, I will be speaking from outside its border, but I will never be silenced until they screw down the lid. In the meantime I’ll keep a watch out for drones.
(You still think killing by drone is OK? It is assassination. It always has been assassination. It always will be assassination. It violated the UN charter and the American Constitution by denying the right to trial. It still violates the constitution and it always will violate the Constitution.
Since when did the Constitution only apply to US Citizens. It always was meant to apply to american citizens and all people on american soil. I realized, when the puppet Attorney General took so long to state that killing Americans by drones was inappropriate, not morally wrong, not unconstitutional, we had a rogue immoral administration, rotten to the core. When Congress allowed Holder to knowingly lie to them, without punishment, I realized the whole government of the US was rotten to the core. This what happens when you allow a bastard to polarize along party lines; to divide and conquer; to bribe citizens for votes using tax-payers money. Rotten to the core, from the top down.
Sorry for the rant, Big Al. But, although I am not a supporter of Ron Paul, in many specifics, I did not like the way the stooges in the media separated him out and marginalized his candidacy – divide and conquer tactic, very effective.

    Good one, Matthew.

    Jul 14, 2013 14:13 AM

It will soon be possible to accurately model human thought and behaviors across all regions, age groups, cultures and time periods by virtue of compiling the vast amounts of collected data that represents the mundane daily interactions of people.

The source of data is of course phone records, emails, video, blog commentary, legal records, interactions with authority, preferences of a million varieties, shopping habits, credit usage, driving records and status of health to only mention a very few of the easily gathered access points into the daily life of an individual.

The great change now is that social groups no longer need to be studied in attempting to divine the habits of individuals as it is now the individual himself who in aggregation of the details of his life will offer insights into determining broad social behavior.

This is an incredible turning point in understanding (and therefore managing) social behavior and the society they are a part of. In the past we looked to groups and group behavior to understand humanity whereas now we will gain a greater depth of understanding through the details of the individual mind itself.

Surveillance across so many varied platforms now offers insights into predicting almost exactly how individuals will respond under a wide variety of circumstances. There are hundreds of millions of people all being analyzed at once. Computer modeling and the analysis of so much data will soon be able to give extremely precise definitions of specific individuals by knowing their past characteristics and how they respond over time to a variety of changes.

Psychologists, Sociologists and behavioral scientists will have a field day with the vast amount of information at their fingertips. I have absolutely no doubt that such modelling is now being contemplated or is underway and will perhaps form the basis of sorting people in the future according to defined attributes.

In the past we have sometimes been amazed by the accuracy of how social sciences have been able to gain insights into the minds of individuals based on studies of relatively small groups and how this understanding has allowed predictive capabilities that were often quite accurate.

Appreciating how much could be done with those small study groups is in itself offering insights. How much more accurate can the models become when the group being examined now comprises virtually all of humanity that is connected to the grid. Even the portion that is not connected is not immune to being understood.

So are there really any secrets remaining unknown in the world of people when computer analysis can quickly boil your personality down to little more than a number on a scale based on all that has been studied and analyzed?

I suspect there will soon be no secrets left to discover and that action and reaction will be tied to specific knowledge of individuals based on details of their histories. More to the point, it might not even be necessary to watch individuals so closely afterwards as the means will exist to understand a personality based on a very brief survey or quiz.

To an extent, all people are the same. We like to consider ourselves individuals and unique but from an outside perspective we look not that different than large groups of penguins. Essentially indistinguishable from one another in look and pattern behavior.

The possibility now exists for computer models to randomly pose questions to an interview and arrive at an incredibly accurate assessment of who that person is and what they represent (whether they like it or not). They can by virtue of the model decide who is a risk to society and who is an asset.

Based on the vast amount of material being examined it will also soon be possible to divine nature from nurture and therefore make determinations of behavior that are based on genetics as opposed to the wide number of variables introduced into the equation by politics, religion or environment that have in the past befuddled a good understanding of the individual.

I hope everyone here appreciates that the outcome of data collection is virtually always a deep analysis of the data that has been collected. What else is the point? I also should not need to point out that the knowledge of humanity encapsulated by the models gives tremendous power to those who possess it.

You may as well go into an argument naked and unarmed when the opposition already knows with a high degree of probability what you will do and say ahead of time. Like I said…we all imagine ourselves individuals but the truth is that most people are all too predictable.

And so we head in the future, naked against the phalanx of computing power that is arrayed against us that has an advantage more potent than that held by the spear throwers upon encountering others who had little more than rocks as a defense, we need to keep in mind our outward behaviors are what define us.

What you do and say now matters more than ever now. Can it be any simpler?

      Jul 14, 2013 14:04 AM

Just like young David Bird Man who as good as naked took on Goliath.

Remember evil only appears so formidable because it calls on all manner of human agencies with which to try and terrify us…..If God is for us WHO, JUST WHO can be against us?

        Jul 14, 2013 14:55 AM

The more I think through the real implications of all the data collection and the routines now being written to compile it all into making a picture of clarity representing the very nature of the human mind, I am simply astonished Andrew.

This is the future though. I am only speaking to what is the obvious outcome of the collections.

What is really happening at its root is that our minds are being examined by a complete and thorough understanding of our actions and reactions to events, news and other variables. It is possible to do it in real time now too which makes it an incredibly useful too for those who control the data.

From here, it is therefore just a small leap to making the thought processes of the individual public in every way imaginable. There is no sanctuary left that cannot be intruded upon after that, not even the human mind itself.

This truly is the Brave New world. We are all naked before an immensly formidable power.

          Jul 14, 2013 14:38 AM

          Thanks Bird.

I am starting to rethink my position about surveilance.

I don’t recall a time in History when so many geniuses gathered together in one spot at the same time, and for the common good of humanity, to right “The American Declaration Of Independence.”

The only other period in History and it was very close in time is during The French Revolution and The Age Of Napoleon and that includes some on The British side like Nelson and Wellington, but many of their brilliant leaders were military men, not the same as having society being improved by allowing free thought and the basic principles of freedom and liberty to be their guide.

I hope society gets back to improving the life’s of men like it was meant to, after all shouldn’t we be better at governing ourselves over time, isn;t that one of the goals of all men. DT

I have been trying to find out what all this NSA spying is costing. However, everything seems to be off-budget.
I did come across some data that is possibly of interest courtesy of the ACLU (.org).
This in connection with formal request for wiretaps in connection with drug crimes.

Number of formal requests to a judge for a wiretap: 3,395
Cost of a wiretap on average: $500,452
Conviction rate resulting from wiretap and related information 18%

So apart from wiretaps being darned expensive, roughly 4 out of 5 suspected people who were wiretapped produced no damning evidence from being wiretapped.
This does not seem to be a very efficient process, even when you suspect someone.
How efficient a process can it be when everyone is randomly spied upon?
Will it be $ 1 million per person caught? $ 10 million? $100 million? At what expense is the concept economically one of the most stupid ideas of doing something, just because it can be done, and Congress has totally lost control of budgeting?
That is apart from it being UTTERLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
I call for the immediate dismissal and loss of all pension rights for those involved in the NSA spying project. FURTHER such unconstitutionalists should be permanently barred from Federal employment.
(I only suggest this because I believe hanging, drawing and quartering uncivilized; even though the spies deserve it.)
Where Oh where is the call from the peasants for a closure of the spying apparatus?
Alas the sheeple are too involved watching their soap operas to give a darn.
The parallels of Rome shout loud. Pax Americana mortum est.
