Real heros have always made a difference. They are starting to make a greater difference than they have in the past because people are slowly starting to wake up.

Makes a great tear-jerking story, but the sad reality is that once the journey down The Slippery Slope has begun, all the heroes in the world aren’t going to make a difference. And down The Slippery Slope it goes.

      Aug 20, 2014 20:32 AM

You could very well be correct Dallas, but I have this funny feeling that people are starting to wake up.

      Time will tell!

        Aug 20, 2014 20:39 AM

History shows us people always “wake up” too late. All that one can do now is hold on as best one can, hope one is still alive and reasonably functional at the bottom of The Slippery Slope, give thanks to one’s Deity Of Choice if they are, and then… and only then…. start looking around and asking oneself, “Ok, what can I contribute to the rebuilding?” Everyone needs to be focused on surviving the trip down The Slippery Slope, because there’s no getting off the ride now.

          Aug 20, 2014 20:48 AM

I think that I would agree with you, Dallas

            Aug 24, 2014 24:01 PM

Dear guys, thanks so much for discussing my comment on faith in the government.

I have been a bit contentious with some of my comments on various issues, probably because I am disgruntled ex-goldbug/silverbug who sees the old 2000s gold and silver bull markets at an end but still doesn’t quite understand why they have ended.

It was nice to hear your well reasoned discussion as always. I really think you have got a great balance of content and opinion on the show right now.

I was woken up a little by what ManAboutDallas had said about the loss of faith in government could happen very suddenly in the right circulstances but I wonder if the right circumstances could be so bad that they don’t bear thinking about.

I suppose one possibility could be the collapse of the currency system as von Mises has written and many others have put forward as an end game in this government run debt mess.

I somehow doubt that the US dollar can collapse before a whole load of other ‘lesser’ currencies have collapsed first, the USD being the senior reserve currency and that in which so much debt is written, it should be more prone to deflation than the others if the debt collapses.

I still tend to think thatr thepeopleofthe West mostly worship government as a false gold, the great provider of everything from cradle to grave and although there is dissent it is not meaningful dissent, just chatter really. The psychology I fell is still ultra pro-government,

ie any dissent is usually in the terms “The government is not doing enough about this and that to help us” rather than the government is the problem that needs to get out of the way of freedom in markets and human actions. I am writing up 2 examples of this, just small ones from recent months.

            Aug 24, 2014 24:08 PM

            First example:

Recently in the UK we had the giat scandal and police investigation Operation Yew Tree about the now dead pervert BBC presenter/DJ Jimmy Saville and a couple of others who are still alive and have been convicted and put in jail, decades after their crimes.

one might have thought that there would be a huge furore abnout this and the public would call for the disbanding of this evil government sponsored organisation which is funded from compulsory licence payemtns from anyone who owns a television, totally outdated and redundant in an era of 1000s of private channels and the internet.

But no. The government is going to move to punish and harass even harder anyone who does not pay their TV licence fee, so we know whose side the government is on.

The BBC should be immediately privatised and subjected to the free market. there is no justification in any sense for any kind of subsidy for TV, which is old tech.

However, there is only rumblings of dissent and no meaningful demand for this organisation to be cut loose from public funding.

            Aug 24, 2014 24:17 PM

            Second example:

I was coming home in my car and heard the BBC radio programme ‘Any Questions’ a kind of politicval audience question talking ship show,

They were discussing new food labelling regulations to make nutritional and other info clearer and more comprehensive, as if there isn’t already enough data splattered all over the back of every little tiny block of cheese in tiny writing.

They had a straw poll of the audience about who wants more food regulation. About 70% put their hands up to say Yes.

Can you imagine how pathetic this is? I worked in the food industry for a couple of companies and it is already paralysed by over regulation and yet these jerks in the audiuence were calling for more, as if any of them would read all theinfo on food packages already! You would be spending all day in the supermarket with a magnifying glass to read it all!

I just _groaned_ when I heard the item on that show and the audience poll result. Although the audience might not be a typical cross section, after all they are people with time to waste by going to tedious, useless shows of that nature and would not understand that they are being conned, it just goes to show that there are many people who still want their government to have their fingers in every pie and still believe fervently in the political process.

        Aug 20, 2014 20:50 PM

People aren’t asleep, they are dead, dead in trespasses and sins. Jesus is the only real hero. Believe on Him!

      Aug 20, 2014 20:49 AM

      Many thanks, Franky!

    Aug 20, 2014 20:34 AM

And just for the record, I’m going to place the start of The Second American Civil War at August 9th, 2014. Just as in the first, when it took some time after the firing on Fort Sumter for the populace on both sides to realise that “Yes, there really is a civil war going on.” the reality of The Second American Civil War will not be readily apparent right away, either. Then will come the “ton of bricks” moment.

      Aug 20, 2014 20:10 AM

      No, its the..Sand Box moment..

I’m afraid we have too many wimps
now. With a welfare state on social
support these guys are not going to
do squat. Until that changes nothing
is going to happen to cause a revolution.

Its a big comfy zone and everyone is on
      the program.

        Aug 20, 2014 20:06 PM

Unfortunately, make that very unfortunately, you are correct about the welfare state. Revolution? Nope!

          Aug 20, 2014 20:26 PM

Spot on, HH. Same over here in the UK.
Maybe the choice will come eventually to these welfare recipients. In order to continue to receive said welfare, sign away ALL your freedoms. On the dotted line. A thumbprint will do because the edukashun system is a failure.

            Aug 20, 2014 20:31 PM

            Thanks silverbuddave…lol… just joking…

Good to see ya btw. Just following satans footprints.
He’s doing everything right to make our world appear
            heavenly.

The economy should look good or at least in a deceptive
way until total destruction comes. Thief in the night.

ITS THE TOTAL GRAND DECEPTION THATS IN PLAY RIGHT NOW.

Most are deceived in the last days. Many it says in the bible.

Everyone will be caught off guard, except for me…lol

Oh, I know you can’t be fooled either.

Peace and blessings to you. ; )

            GO GOLD !!!!!!!

            Aug 20, 2014 20:58 PM

Also I believes with so many on social programs
it sure limits purchases of precious metals since
no money and all their needs are provided.

THEY DON’T CARE. These people that are provided
            for in social support programs.

We have at least 100 million here in USA on support.

So the whole system is so high leveraged with debt

and then ypu have the Curve Pop we are in with Whack
a bubble showing up to blow up the entire system.

( curve pop is a registered trade mark of Bird )

      Aug 20, 2014 20:05 PM

      Dallas,

I hope and pray that you are not correct about this one. That’s all I can do, man!

        Aug 20, 2014 20:31 PM

I don’t want to be “correct about this one” either, Al, but in my misspent youth I made the mistake of reading too many History books, and I remember too much of what I read.

          Aug 20, 2014 20:26 PM

          Me too!

Notice I didn’t comment on the probability!

      Aug 24, 2014 24:22 PM

You know ManAboutDallas, I have a little though about Europe. I wonder if Europe will have a civil war like the one in America 150 years ago.
After all we have the South being ruled over by the North by bailouts and austerity measures. The south is basically already under the thumb because of its unpayable debt and there are secessionist movements and a lot of dissent there.
I am not sure of the mechanism by which the north of the EU could actually attack the south militarily if some of the countries defaulted and left the Eurozone but it’s just a feeling. Maybe it would be via police state measures, bail-ins, stealing people’s bank accounts, trade blockades and other kinds of tricks rather than out-and-out blood way. In this case, maybe the Euro civil war is already under way.

We should go back to the excise taxes (tariffs) envisioned by our founding fathers to fund a very limited government that served the people as oppsed to the Machiavellian state we have today. Now the IRS is the enforcer for Obamacare. As they say, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you!

      Aug 20, 2014 20:07 PM

      Certainly hope you are wrong!

I do not think that “having a nice” discussion or being “tolerant” of other people’s opinions is the issue here… The truth is that if you believe and stand for western traditional values and defend them against nihilistic or foreign brutal ideologies, you may end up arrested and indicted by the State in the name of “intolerance.” As far as I am concerned, “free speech” is dead, and “Liberty” is dead in the Western world. For example, this year in the UK, an election candidate was publicly arrested for quoting Churchill :

And an American attorney is wanted for ‘Hate Crimes’ in Canada because he dared to stand for his Christian Values in an opinion column: http://www.westernjournalism.com/imagine-im-wanted-hate-crimes-canada/

Note that there was no physical or verbal violence whatsoever committed by the British candidate or the American Attorney… One made a speech quoting an historical figure, and the other wrote a personal opinion. People can be as nice as they want, the truth is that if you are true to your western christian ideals and values and express them publicly then you may end up arrested and imprisoned.
