The US Dollar index is roughly a crude measure of the strength of the US relative to Europe.

Take a look at this graph:
    http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user3303/imageroot/2014/09/20140901_PMI_0.jpg
and it will be obvious why the US dollar is up!

That glorious sense of feeling safe when everybody’s sitting comfortably….

At the very moment the Titanic hit its iceberg in the North Atlantic, the silent version of ‘The Poseidon Adventure’ was being screened aboard the ship.

The problem is the index itself. If the index is not again selected sunset western currencies, the story will be different. It is like core inflation index.

Just mentioning Ukraine, if the powers that be wanted peace Im certain it could be negotiated. Conversly that indicates to me they want war, as Chris says profit.

Kinda funny telling Russia not to invole in Estonia etc as they have in Ukraine.
What are they scared of? Aid convoys.

Paul Craig Roberts has been making some good observations, to bad he writes at the same time as America can dance.

Meanwhile ISIL severs the head of another journalist, and the Islamic cuckoo in the Whitehouse isn’t playing golf?

Just following in the path , that they have been taught for 1000 years.

I gotta ask the question, just what is that group trying to accomplish?

AL, read a summary of Allah, and the 6th. Pillar, which is the radical assumption, that they must wipe out all AND any who do not believe in ALLAH., which by the way, is the OLD MOON GOD, of the Arabic tribes……which was and old belief before Islam.

So do we finally start taking the conflict in Ukraine seriously? Is there a showdown of some sort coming even if by proxy? I am curious about your thoughts Chris on one aspect of recent market activity that has caught my attention. I cannot help but have noticed that a rising dollar is doing serious damage to the Russian economy with respect to pricing mechanisms in crude and so many other of their export commodities. Secondly, that gold, Russia’s stated alternative to settling of accounts is also in sharp decline since hostilities ramped up two months ago. Have Washington insiders not already stated that sanctions and economic warfare are the preferred choice of tools to deal with Vladamir Putin and his ambitions in Crimea and Ukraine? In other words…..is this actually outright financial warfare playing out before the eyes of a world which is stupidly focused more on actual physical hostilities on the ground than on the much more serious background implications where commodities are hit hard and the dollar soars to break the superious Russian motive of a taking over a large swathe of their formerly glorious empire?

If you remember, the neocon goof Larry Kudlow several weeks back suggested that actions be taken to run the dollar way up and the ruble way down, crushing the oil price (and hurting Putin) in the process. I don’t want to read too much into recent days’ actions, though – as I said this morning, the dollar rally now is taking on a life of its own, fed by momentum players. I question how far it can go before causing more widespread problems; methinks that, long before Putin might cry “Uncle” (he won’t) the soaring greenback will have pulled support from underneath several other emerging markets. Not to say that the sociopaths who pull these strings would care a lot!
BTW — Very instructive interview of Nikita Khrushchev’s granddaughter on CNBC this afternoon:

Larry Kudlow………..I stopped watching that goof ball, when Cramer and he split…., THE only thing Larry had going for him was his necktie department,,,,great selection of neckties…………..

I stopped watching Kudlow, and started listen to the BIG OWL………..hum, wonder what that means……

You prefer audio over video maybe? Since I mentioned it…why doesn’t Al do his show with video like all the other big name radio guys. That would be kind of cool actually. Like with him and Cory doing a live feed with the daily guests in the skin. Greg Hunter does a nice job of it with a split screen. Probably pretty technical though. Way above my pay grade.

It means that you can’t tell what color tie I am wearing!

And, it means that you have a very intelligent daughter!

Unfortunately my golf game has been dramatically cut. The wine? No comment!

I have never seen or heard Larry Kudlow so I do not know anything about him or what he said. Not into TV at all, Chris. He is just another famous name that I hear often but don’t know anything about. Maybe I will Google on him later. It is interesting he made those remarks though. The strategy boggles the mind if it were actually being carried out.

That’s just how smug and even sociopathic these people are though, Birdman.

So I looked up Larry Kudlow. For certain I have never seen that face in an interview before. Probably just as well. I do my best not to let others with strong opinions color my perspectives. Keeps my head clear if that is possible. While I was surfing around I thought I would Wiki on “Junior Miners” and was amazed to see that nobody has ever created a page for that topic especially given they often cover such arcane information. Maybe someone out there with time on their hands will make such a page and add it to the Wikipedia information bank.
