You are NOT off topic. We are Marxists. We worship the state (government in general). We look to the state for food, clothing, housing, business loans, education, medical care, home defense, fire fighters, employment, interest income, etc., etc. Sadly, we are more like 99% communist, not the 70% figure put forth by the author. Heed, therefore, the words of Jesus Christ, the Ruler of the Kings of the Earth: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13,14.

In the course of the weekly tutorial sessions that I hold for graduates of my Hidden Pivot Course, we turned up an 1126.00 target for December Gold this morning. This is a very high-confidence number that comes from the weekly chart. The good news is that 1126.00 looks like a place where you can back up the truck and buy ’em, albeit with a very tight stop-loss. Please note that a decisive breach of this Hidden Pivot support would portend more downside to — better sit down for this — 813.80.

      Oct 01, 2014 01:35 AM

      $813.80 is insanity.

      Rick A.

You said in an editorial in 09 the stock market could vaporize in
a nano second. Bearish all the way up. Probably should stick to
day trading. Long term is not your area of expertise. You completely
never factored in the Fed printing. Without the gold standard they
      will…PRINT..PRINT…PRINT…

Most likely. Your assuming gold can trade that low has less odds than
2000 gold. Hiddin pivot is not going to tell us. Not at all. Sorry.

    Oct 01, 2014 01:16 AM

Well said Rick. Hundreds of years of interest rate charts and bond prices cannot be wrong. The business cycle has and will keep asserting itself. That just happens to also be my contention given the rate cycles we have already seen in the past two centuries. This is almost a script we are following. There is very little difference between what transpired before the Fed came into being and what happened after their inception in 1913. So it is mostly a tail chasing exercise to conclude they have had any material impact in the last few years other than market soothing commentary. Basically we will wind down to the very bottom before rates start going back up again. No rocket science there at all.

      Oct 01, 2014 01:40 PM

Rocket science? ???? Huh… thats sooo old. Anything more creative?

What’s different since 1913 is the hypergrowth of banks eager to shovel money at us — money that costs the lenders almost nothing. The invention of the credit card, in particular, has been a big factor in our undoing.

      Oct 02, 2014 02:56 AM

True enough. One thing the Fed has control of here is the ability to exaggerate the effects of the business cycle and thus bring about a harder conclusion as they attempt to forestall the inevitable. As the old expression goes; you can’t fight a debt problem with more debt and as debt is the inverse of credit creation we can easily conclude our problems have been magnified.

By the way, Rick…..great call on the market top AND a big bond rally. That was exactly what we got and all those who kept insisting it was actually gold that would benefit have again come to the wrong conclusions.

Where is my great call with wti oil? I’ve been harping about lower prices since the day you and gary had it breaking out months ago.. Can I get some love around here :).

88.18 futures..80’s here we come.. We will get to the 78 target within this month.
Everything is deflating and equities are held by the thread until november 4th. Its going to come tumbling down. It will be a blood shed.

            Thanks J,

I figured.. Im not a bull nor a bear… Just wanna make money but i tell you the stars are aligning very fast like I had predicted.. The equities keeps fighting them down but the fed is trying hard to keep it from falling. Markets can overwhelm anything at this point. Including fed. I see the dow and s&p decoupling. That’s what im seeing. So in essence im seeing totally different then what gary is predicting. Its a deflating environment and thats were gold/silver and miners get rewarded. When everyone is running and scared they will put there money in this sector. I have great confidence in that. Patience.

            ditto…….on the “Patience”

          Oct 02, 2014 02:20 AM

Sorry about that Glenfidish. I don’t really recall harping about oil going up though. Mostly I am short term so maybe that was just something for that specific day or week. Good call on crude though. Hope you made some money.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:30 AM

Np Bird, not saying you were harping but myself. Don’t invest in the oil but I use it as a barometer for the commodities trade and investments.

    AL YOU ARE 100% CORRECT…………

I speak as a person never ceases to be amazed at problems I have and things confiscated from me, notwithstanding that I actually obey rules and measure length of pocket knife blades and follow rules on liquids. However I’ve had pocket knife, can opener, small engraving drill, toothpaste, a belt, etc., confiscated.

    Even less border protection ordered:

Hidalgo County (Rio Grande Valley Area) :

Dozens of Border Patrol agents will leave the region Wednesday. Constable Gallardo said the departure may have an impact on some aspects of law enforcement.

“The wait time for Border Patrol to respond to somebody we got detained may take, instead of 10 minutes, may take 30 minutes,” he said.

National Guard troops and additional state troopers also may leave the region soon.

“You’ve got to understand that it will made a big impact in the Valley,” Gallardo said.

Gallardo said he and his 16 deputies are ready to pick up the slack.

“We just need to be more proactive, be on the offensive and try to stop some of that stuff,” he said.

So where is the gold bid?

There is a widespread assumption that as the stock market declines off a peak that money will automatically flow into gold, mines, resources and commodities. That trade off has not yet emerged even as the DOW declined 500 points since mid September while gold prices went flat to down.

So what happened instead? Well I hope you all noticed the sharp moves higher in the 10 and 30 year Treasuries that has coincided with the declines in US equity markets over the past two weeks. Gold did not benefit as a fear trade as was widely expected.

In the background the dollar remained strong and has continued its march upward. Stocks may actually finally be responding to dollar strength after the dollar ascent that began in earnest in July.

In the same way that a weak currency feeds into higher prices on stock markets we should have expected to see a flattening trend develop in US equity markets as the dollar gained. But that has hardly been the case except for the latter half of September. This suggests momentum is stronger than many will give credit for.

What is proof and good evidence to me of the very low sentiments towards precious metals is the fact that only Treasuries benefited during that time period. We cannot but have noticed that most commodities were still in decline all that time.

I am just pointing out that a safe haven bid does not always work the way some people claim it will.

Currently silver Open Interest rests at 173,222 contracts. (November futures) In ounces, this represents 866 million oz or 123.71% of silver annual production.
Historically for most commodities generally the OI is represented by 4% or 5% of annual production. This will give you some idea of the enormity of what is happening in silver right now. Unless things change dramatically, the system blows up before year end.

Don’t blame Obama. He handed a great reason for Canada to diversify and our stupid government just sits there and watch our oil/gas E&P companies bleeding. It is the most incompetent government in the world. A pipeline to the West and another to East will go a long way. Harper is a fool.

        Oct 02, 2014 02:18 AM

What’s Harder got to do with a “Free Market”. Its the companies themselves. Canadian companies don’t seem to have the balls other countries have, especially the large caps.

          Oct 02, 2014 02:28 AM

Companies are always disorganized. Some one has to lead it. US has spent a lot of money to bribe the natives and environmentalists in BC to block the northern gateway. It is no longer a free market. Government has an obligation to protect the companies from unfair trade. We got 50s dollar a barrel while the price is in the 90s. We give our resources to US for free.

everybody give us free stuff………….we really enjoy a good to great life….so far, …but, the next generation may have a little more discomfort. BUT, life is grand..in the USA of ….

Yeah. Agree with that Dan. Why blame Harper? Get thee back to China Lawrence. Maybe Canada doesn’t need you type. Your bitching about living in probably the best country in the world with one of the most fair, open and responsible governments and you find time to rag about them online. Pathetic. Why are you even there since obviously China is so much better.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:37 AM

I love Canada but not Harper. I am Canadian citizen for decades and contribute to Canadian economy. You are an evil person. Where do you want those Americans to go if they don’t like Obama? You are beyond unreasonable. Please don’t step over your boundary. I am trying all I can to avoid you. Try one more time, I will file an complaint.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:44 AM

Harper has done as much for this country as any other PM IMHO. And who wants government to be allowed any more power? At least Canada is starting to lead the world in Marijuana companies. We seem to bow to the special interest groups; that is where our large caps fail. I think Canada thinks we should be more Euro than Amero.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:47 AM

Most people here agree with me on this issue. I am not the odd one.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:07 AM

Dan, nobody wants government to acquire more power. They should be able to help within current capabilities. A lot of people including me feel very sad to see our resource wasted. It is particular important to Alberta. I know companies are not doing their job but they have help by cutting productions. something has to be done. Very soon companies will be in survival mode and less could be done. Many services companies have already laid off a lot of people.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:13 AM

You bet Lawrence, but it is a Canadian character flaw and not government responsibility. Something about our brains freezing for 4 months a year while we deal with another harsh winter. Many of our best CEOs are foreigners for a reason.

Ah, I see, free speech is OK for you when you call the Prime Minister a fool but it is not OK when other people reading those words object to your insults? You also said “our stupid government” is “the most incompetent government in world” and I guess you also think that is OK because it’s just stuff you wrote on the internet. Free speech right? I will only tell you that if you are so unhappy you should probably consider packing up your bags and returning to where the government is not the “most incompetent in the world”. See, that is also my right to express when I read such outrageous statements as yours and I would say the same thing whether you were born there or you were an immigrant. If you don’t like it then get lost or do something to change it. And meantime, don’t threaten because that does not go over very well. You brought your bad politics onto a public website and you should expect to be chastised by others who do not share your extreme anti-government views.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:19 PM

Bird, even though I have no interest of fighting you but I may say one more thing. As a citizen I have the right to criticize government for what it is not doing right. A government which collects a lot of tax and royalty from its citizens also has obligations to serve its citizen. I pay nearly half of what I earn to the government. I am not anti-government and I actually voted for him and I also recruited a few dozen voters to vote for PC leader in our province and several MLAs. It is fine you argue about politics but bringing up your opponent’s previous nationality and race is offensive. A lot of Canadians feel the same way as I am. Do you think I deserve less than other people? As for myself, I am doing really well. I only worry about my national interest since I love my country. Believe me I have exercised my citizen’s duty and continue doing so.

Just want to remind you that you already become a troll on this site. You have insulted many people here. You seem to have a lot of time and enjoy pissing off other people.

            No more words from me.

            Oct 02, 2014 02:33 PM

Here is the thing Lawrence…I don’t care what your background is or where you came from. The fact is I don’t even know if you are telling the truth or making up a fictional identity. Since you are anonymous you think it is OK to call me a Troll and insult other people here as well. That is also out of line in my opinion but what goes around comes around so no big deal. What really galls me is you insulted the Prime Minister. Keep it up if you want to get on my nerves because you will definitely be hearing objections from me if you go down that road.
