Contrary to what some folks think, we actually do have an awful lot to be thankful for. In the case of all of us here at KER, we are especially thankful for all of our “family” that listen to what we have to say and provide us with valuable input!

This audio is a rough cut of the first segment of the Weekend Show.

Best to all!

    Interesting thoughts gentlemen,

On a side matter, I just can’t help thinking that OPEC’s decision today is a step toward some sort of QE for the Fed or AT LEAST postponing rate hikes.

    Let me elaborate quickly:
    1) weaker yen = lower imports costs = can be twisted into “deflation risk” – CHECK
    2) weaker yuan = lower imports costs = can be twisted into “deflation risk” – CHECK
    3) lower oil prices = lower input costs = can be twisted into “deflation risk” – CHECK

I can’t imagine the Fed’s gonna raise rates in a few months will all of this currently going on (although I understand the situation in a few months might be different).
But if the Fed ever wanted an excuse to not hike rates, OPEC just gave them a great one.

And I can imagine the future spin of the FOMC: “although unemployment has now reached low levels due the gradual improvement in the economy, market participants inflation expectations remain anchored at low levels and are now incompatible with the FOMC previous consideration to start raising rates in 2015” bla bla bla… and “we remain data dependant”.

What do you gents think, esp. Chris, if I may ask ?

Thank you & Happy Thanksgiving to all,

    LPG

I am sure you are right and everything is going right by design. This is what politics for. One question is whether the shale oil and oil sands are to be sacrificed. I guess if this last long enough.

            Lawrence,
Personally, I’d tend to think “the US” actually asked KSA (to convince OPEC) to not cut output.
I also asked myself the same question about shale oil and oil sands… and my conclusion is that the big boys are gonna survive it, while the small ones will likely die – as always. So in the long run, the big players will actually be happy as this will purge the playing field and make them “bigger”/more sizeable when prices will go back up.
I think it’s the same reason why large PM companies are accused by some people to be in bed with large banks/institutions to keep the prices of the metals down…IMHO, they are indeed in bed, and they want a purge of the sector as they think they can survive it but many smaller players can’t -> less supply going forward, higher prices in the long run ?
            My 2cents.

            Best,

            LPG

            Nov 27, 2014 27:43 AM

Exactly my thought. There are several motivators to lower the international oil price for now. One is what you said and the other might be causing Putin some headache. In the 80s, the prices was kept low long enough to speed up the disintegration of former USSR. In the late 90s, the price was kept down to get over Asian flu. However, US oil/gas suffered huge losses in the 80s and could not recover for the next 20 years. But cost is justified to defeat USSR. However, this time the loss is much bigger and North America might deviate from the course of energy self reliance.

As Matthew labels fellow Americans, the Sheeple, the Ignorant in masses who by the way have always been ready to serve their country while the likes of CFS can outline all that’s wrong with America as he leaves for another country, fine bugger off!….but don’t piss on those that still believe in a better America. Leave and shut-up!

I’m very thankful the ignorant masses, the sheeple stood their ground on so many issues during the last 100 years not only in America but all around the world defending their homeland instead of leaving and complaining!

      Nov 27, 2014 27:54 AM

Spoken like the little collectivist that you are. Team America! Rah rah! Did you ever use the word “homeland” before 9/11 and FOX? Lol.
America is done thanks to the ignorant masses. If you weren’t one of them, thankful is the last thing you would be. Ignorance really is bliss.

        Nov 27, 2014 27:58 AM

Your ego Matty has no limits, you must be a Us government worker, politician or a law enforcement agent…(most likely a security guard at the local mall)…we the masses, we the ignorant….wow aren’t you F’n special looking down on us mere sheeple blaming all that’s wrong in the US on the ignorant….the same kind that you call “your type” didn’t give up when their country called them to arms….its scum like you that those who lost their lives fighting for a better America was wasted on….make America better, don’t run and point fingers at those you look down upon…..WTF

            Nov 28, 2014 28:50 AM

            Gentlemen (Matthew and original jj)

Obviously you two have a strong difference of opinion on this issue.

Thanks for your commentary as we addressed it in Segment 6 of the Weekend Show.

          Nov 27, 2014 27:20 AM

I am not American and have no loyalty to US. However, if poeple are not vigilant to the government and masses are obedient to the elites, the country will be lost to a selected few. All monarchy societies have proven it. So I always question whether it is right when government does anything to the country. What you said is truly scary.

            Nov 27, 2014 27:21 PM

Lawerence…Agreed …Reading the above treads , & being Irish & living in the UK & having lived & worked in Germany , Holland , & France & for many years studied what goes on in the US….then sorry JJ…I must agree with Matthew’s point of view.

      Nov 27, 2014 27:11 AM

Well it works Rev, using the vocabulary of the Sheeple, the Ignorant has one getting labeled very quickly by those who are so righteous….I don’t look down on Americans as sheeple or ignorant….I guess you do?

        Nov 27, 2014 27:16 AM

Ignorance feeds evil. I look down on it wherever it is found, myself included.

          Nov 27, 2014 27:21 AM

I don’t look down on any man who is ignorant from lack of education, real evil is found at the level of highest education, just look at the global politicians, bankers and alike…very well educated but evil towards the sheeple

            Nov 27, 2014 27:57 AM

That kind of evil REQUIRES ignorance in order to survive. Their actions are met with sheeple inaction or worse, help. Did the elite force everyone to embrace debt and deficit spending as a way of life? No. Could the elite carry out their unconstitutional agendas (or the Patriot Act or the NDAA) without the help of the stupid? No. The most successful tyrannies are horizontal, not vertical, as they’re built like a fortress on the stupidity of the majority and its willingness to police itself. Everyone is ultimately kept in check by their neighbor —Soviet style.
Luckily, since “good” ideas are sound and “bad” ones are unsound, all societies based on collectivism have the seeds of their own destruction built-in. The problem is that they can last far longer than any of us has time for.

“The social psychologist of the future will have a number of classes of school children on whom they will try different methods of producing an unshakable conviction that snow is black. When the technique has been perfected, every government that has been in charge of education for more than one generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies or policemen.” —–Bertrand Russell quoting Johann Gottlieb Fichte, the head of philosophy & psychology who influenced Hegel and others – Prussian University in Berlin, 1810

            Nov 27, 2014 27:16 AM

Well said. As Chinese, we have painful memory of the elites exploiting the masses. Currently, people are very vigilant about the government. Regardless right or wrong, people naturally oppose government and evade taxes. When something happens to them, some people will carry out revengeful acts to the government. In a sense, government fears the people. So stability is the number one goal on the government agenda for decades. Government is forced by public opinion to deliver some good things.

jj Visited a guy in prison this pm who’s a sex offender who’s charged with a sex offence, and thus deemed to be the lowest of the low in most Brits’ eyes. For myself I’m proud to call R my friend: Not because of what he may or may not have done, but because he’s honest about himself while seeing rabid prejudice for what it is.

          Nov 27, 2014 27:31 AM

….Typo: charged with a sex offense should read charged with raping his girlfriend even after they continued seeing each other.

    Nov 27, 2014 27:07 AM

Violent crime by the citizenry is down, but violence through undeclared bankers wars have been on the rise. The numbers of dead in the twentieth century alone were in the tens of millions compared to the hundreds of thousands in ancient times. What hasn’t changed is most of the carnage is by Democide, (death by Government, or to be precise, the policy decisions and prevarications of power brokers in control of Governments). The good news, (for lack of a better term) is that the modes of death are quicker and perhaps more merciful, (by the gun and not the sword). Good try, Al. But the real good news is that an informed public is rising up, seeing through the hat trick that all wars are Banker’s wars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hfEBupAeo4

We are living in a time of unbelievable change that is speeding up more as time progresses. The World needs a strong America that works with the all countries.

If America would bring it’s troops home and close it’s foreign bases, they could concentrate on fixing the economy and becoming the leader it once had been. The US foreign policy has been a disaster since Vietnam, what we all want is peace so we can live our lives in harmony and prosperity. To quote John Lennon” it’s time to give peace a chance.”

      Nov 27, 2014 27:32 PM

DT….How very true…..But the truth is the US has being the biggest treat to the rest of the world since the BIRTH OF THE “FED”…..The world will never be at piece while the “FED” & the Zionist bankers exist .

    Nov 27, 2014 27:03 AM

Law and technology has put a damper on mass participation in violence but that just means that war is being done with smaller groups of specialists using higher tech weapons, terror and small attacks more often. Nuclear weapons and extreme levels of legislation have made war and vendetta the preserve of government and corperate forces competing with each other. It is not a mass activity like it was in past centuries.

Low oil price benefits China in a big way. China is now buying like mad. There full of oil tankers to China. This deal may back fire. It ends up boosting the rival with a lot of damage to US drillers and shale play.

If 1180 does not hold up, then I wonder if the big computer dummy traders will do a ‘get me out now at any price’ routine Sunday night and gold falls hard. To sleep better, I think at close I might lighten up my holdings some. However, I am somewhat encouraged that twice today gold climbed back above 1180 after very brief stints below. I suggest caution here because I think the computers are watching the 1180 area
