DOC, what do you think of RSI indicator?

      Jan 20, 2015 20:08 PM

Peter, the RSI of what chart—daily, weekly, or monthly?

    Jan 20, 2015 20:01 AM

    WOW ! ! !
Thanks for this segment. Exactly what I was needing (plus more) ! ! !
    Brian

      Jan 20, 2015 20:30 AM

That is what we are all about.

      Remember, not investment advice!

    Jan 20, 2015 20:43 PM

Hi Doc – what do you think of todays action in gold? Still looking for a correction? If so, still seeing it down to around 1250?

      Jan 20, 2015 20:30 PM

DF; if we don’t have a pullback soon, then we may have to revisit 1250 again in a few weeks. That wouldn’t be too bad as long as the PM stocks which will run with gold basically hold their price gains.

    Jan 20, 2015 20:46 PM

Both TLT and AXU are selling for a little over half a buck. I think AXU will get to $10 first.

      Jan 20, 2015 20:53 PM

TLT is really more of a long term situation as we have stressed in the past.

      Jan 20, 2015 20:29 PM

BB, I just looked at the technicals of AXU—they’re very interesting. I should ask Cory to do a fundamental analysis of the company.

        Jan 21, 2015 21:16 AM

Doc, If you google “Denver Gold Forum 2014” you can hear the CEO of AXU give a 15 minute presentation about his company with slides.

      Jan 21, 2015 21:53 AM

I agree Bonzo. AXU popped as much as 38% since Friday’s low and this comment:
      On January 16, 2015 at 7:47 am,
      Matthew says:

I think it is being held back by mostly by the silver price. Once we get the bottom confirmed, I think it will go back to providing its usual leverage.
Remember that things always look the worst at the major lows and best at the major highs AND that markets are forward looking. So, despite investor jitters about all sorts of things (share offerings, SLW deal, etc.) I think we should focus on AXU’s current valuation based on what you expect from silver itself. If you don’t expect silver to do much anytime soon, then you might sell strength until you’re out. I DO expect a good enough showing from silver this year to continue to buy weakness or at least hold. As far as speculations in this space go, I do not consider it to be all that risky.

        Jan 21, 2015 21:21 AM

On Friday, I also said: “Next week could be very good for AXU and its peers.”

It is now up 11% since Monday’s open but was up 22%. It bodes well for the sector that silver is outperforming gold today.

Now the RepubloCons are talking about raising the tax on gas (and I’m sure diesel). Mr. Al Korloon, Aren’t you glad you have those freedom loving, small government, leave me alone, keep your hands out of my pocket RepubloCons controlling Congress?

    http://www.sfgate.com/science/article/Odds-of-gas-tax-hike-grow-with-quiet-support-of-6025894.php

      Jan 20, 2015 20:51 PM

This is a perfect opportunity. Why not? They can blame oil gas companies later.

        Jan 20, 2015 20:03 PM

Was it you Lawrence who said the government was slipping a tax increase in just as prices were falling? We got it over here too. Seems the way of governments. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Especially when it comes to adding a fatter tax during a huge commodity price decline!

          Jan 20, 2015 20:49 PM

Something about a two headed snake, Bird?

            Jan 20, 2015 20:24 PM

Telling me Al. What a bunch of opportunists though. The rest of the world is still reeling in shock by how far crude fell but these guys are always on their game with the paperwork at the ready to institute new taxes. Now I really get it. These declines in oil were not about getting the Russians……they are all about squeezing the public for another nickel a liter!

      Jan 20, 2015 20:48 PM

Purely and simply, Ebolan, the answer is no to either side.

    Jan 20, 2015 20:31 PM

    great show…
repubs same as demos… wall st owned & operated..no difference
    Bonzo…. very cogent

      Jan 20, 2015 20:44 PM

Thanks, Sally. It will be an interesting horse race between TLT and AXU. AXU went up 7 cents today after I wrote.

      Jan 20, 2015 20:50 PM

      Agreed Sally!

    Jan 20, 2015 20:50 PM

Do you know what, if I was an American and Donald Trump was a candidate for President I would vote for him, because at least he knows how to run a business. DT

      Jan 20, 2015 20:59 PM

TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT, I like that! DT

        Jan 20, 2015 20:03 PM

        RUN DONALD RUN!

      Jan 21, 2015 21:47 AM

He has had three bankruptcies DT…..so you are correct. HE IS PERFECT FOR THE JOB!!

        Jan 21, 2015 21:56 AM

Okay Bird, he would make a great mayor of Toronto, then we could fashion a bobble head doll after him.

          Jan 21, 2015 21:03 AM

Bobble heads! Ha! I haven’t seen one of those damn things in years. Bet they would sell well to the folks running the Islamic State. And PEZ dispensers too.

goodmorning………..BIRD…………TRUMP should fit right in…………since America is BANKRUPT…., I would say he is well versed in getting out of bad deal…………………………lol……….j

I listened to this segment 3 times. This is a FANTASTIC way to not only understand how the specific TLT share price may change in the near future, but to REALLY learn about Technical Analysis.

If you could do this for a small set of stocks (Theralase, Claude, etc.) on a weekly basis (not all stocks every week, of course) I would be thrilled. Again a GREAT segment.
    Brian

      Jan 20, 2015 20:31 PM

Speaking of Claude; have you seen the nice move in the stock since we began to cover it?

        Jan 20, 2015 20:27 PM

OMG…Richard is the guy behind the curtain!!

          Jan 20, 2015 20:34 PM

It’s 5:30 am – go to bed, Birdman

            Jan 20, 2015 20:41 PM

Its the crack of dawn in Nairobi, Brian. What the hell are you talking about? I’m heading out for breakfast.

            Jan 21, 2015 21:50 AM

Three slabs of pork, two eggs over easy, toast and marmalade with a big glass of OJ and the traditional hot coffee is 1.50 or thereabouts. What a bargain. Tip the girl in advance and she puts your order ahead of all the tourists and serves it up to perfection…….with a nice smile I might add!

          Jan 20, 2015 20:34 PM

I might have guessed you are pulling the levers. Maybe I better listen to your picks more closely!

        Jan 20, 2015 20:31 PM

Absolutely. I have all of my shares at this point; I averaged-in between 0.20 and 0.26 $US (closed @ 0.33 $US today). Claude and Theralase are 2 of my favorite holdings.
        Brian

          Jan 21, 2015 21:03 AM

Brian, watch out for the target practice complete with smoke and mirrors, just saying! DT

    $1306………..nice break thur……………and the game is on……………..j

    Jan 21, 2015 21:21 AM

So there’s the magic number. The ECB wants to inject 50 billion euro a month….about 700 billion USD this year in the European economy. And that’s what sent the Euro up. so I guess we got our answer at least for today.

Germans might have something to get excited about………….should be very interesting………………………j

      Jan 21, 2015 21:30 AM

I see it as a Greek tragedy, let’s see how it plays out once the dust settles.

      Jan 21, 2015 21:45 AM

I agree bird 50 Billion MORE MORE MORE ECB ! long live free west !

    Jan 21, 2015 21:49 AM

There you have it bank of canada cuts rate..

      Jan 21, 2015 21:52 AM

Next up: negative interest rates. Thank god only the smartest people are elected to lead us. I shudder to think what would happen to us if we elected dumb individuals.

      Jan 21, 2015 21:54 AM

I think it is in the interest of Canada to lower the dollar. Otherwise Canadian natural resource economy is going to suffer dearly. I think this must be the intention of Canadian government However, strong US dolalr will hurt US economy and lead to higher trade deficit and exit of industry.

        Jan 21, 2015 21:56 AM

I said this before. If I am Canadian Prime Minister only way I can save the economy is to lower the Canadian dollar. Not a lot else I can do .

    Jan 21, 2015 21:57 AM

Also noticed that TLT.V seems to have resolved a nasty Head and Shoulders pattern that formed as it rose into the high 70’s. This pattern seems to have helped form a bottom for now. I own it and will add as things stabilize here.

    Jan 21, 2015 21:51 AM

To me, weekly charts are “just right” for most average investors and TLT has some good things going on.
    http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=TLT.V&p=W&yr=5&mn=3&dy=0&id=p10626249043&a=385810469
Disclosure: I do not own it.
