An Introduction to Bear Creek Mining and Catherine McLoud-Seltzer

July 30, 2016

Recorded live from the Sprott Natural Resource Symposium Cory had the opportunity to sit down with Catherine McLeod-Seltzer, Chairman of Bear Creek Mining (TSX.V:BCM). This conference has a number of quality companies that have been vetted by Rick Rule and his team and Bear Creek is one that interested me.

Thank you for this interview. While not my biggest position in silver (SLW is) it is one of my bigger holdings. I am expecting settlement of its legal millstone in 12 to 15 months, with a projected 25% bump about that time.
BCEKF has a weighted Alpha of about 303 and a price to book ratio of about 2.4 and a Beta of 3.57.
I.e. Has has significant recent price growth and high volatility. I will continue to be buying its dips.

To educate folks here an Alpha of zero would imply a totally flat stock price, relative to its peers. A smooth doubling of the stock price in a year would give an Alpha of 100, but it would drop below 100 on the time-weighted Alpha if it rose more sharply at the beginning of the year and go above 100 if it was rising more sharply recently.
The Beta measures volatility about a smooth line, with 1.0 being smooth.
(Unlike almost all stock analysts, I am not a chartist; just a fundamentalist. Although I do see much of the fundamentals being reflected by the charts)

    For example, the following table:

    Stock symbol…………alpha (wed)………beta

    AG……………………578……………….0.72
    AXU…………………..316……………….0.55
    HL…………………….275……………….0.91
    FSM…………………….258………………0.78
    EXK……………………..235……………..0.35
    PAAS……………………..227…………….0.54
    SSRI………………………178…………….0.73
    SLW…………,,,,,,,,,…….145……………1.07

oops, I pulled the wrong column out onto my iPad for beta, the above was a root mean squares deviation column.
I simply have a problem with iPads.
And, of course, the iPad incorrected wtd to wed. Sorry.
The weighted alpha column is correct and does indicate the better performers in silver miners over the laser year.
