Subject: economy “recovery”

The Commerce Department announced this morning that America’s economy is stalling. Economic growth in the second quarter of the year was half what economists had predicted. Instead of 2.6% growth, GDP was just 1.2%.

And there was even more bad news. Growth in first quarter of the year was slashed from 1.1% to just 0.8%.

While some politicians are crowing about the economic “recovery,” Americans are scratching the heads wondering what alternate reality our elites are living in. All is not well. For example, according to Investor’s Business Daily:

  • 3.1 million people fell into poverty over the last seven years, and the poverty rate climbed from 14.3% in 2009 to 14.8% in 2014, according to Census data.
  • 60% of American households saw their incomes shrink between 2009 and 2014. The bottom 20% saw their incomes decline by 8.4% over those years.
  • There were 8.7 million more people on food stamps this April (the last year for which data are available) than there were when “recovery” started.
  • While the number of people who are unemployed fell by about 7 million between June 2009 and today, the number who are no longer in the labor force — either because they’ve quit looking for work or retired — climbed an astonishing 14 million.

The American people know that this “recovery” has not lived up to the hype. Just 17% of Americans — 17% — say they are satisfied with the state of our union.

Given the pathetic choice of Presidential candidates, what is left other than revolution?

Raising asset prices will NOT help the poor!

We have political parties that have moved to the left for decades. There is no socialist country that has succeeded for long, and certainly no communist country.
The problem is very simple: governments are too much of a drag on economies. They regulate too much, they tax too much.

I completely agree with all of your comments, Professor. And yes, “rising asset prices will not help the poor”.

This election, two losers, no winners

        Aug 01, 2016 01:07 AM

        More like 340 million losers.

          Possibly billions.

There are too many people doing too well for a revelution.

How many times has anyone seen Putin on msm news pleading with our media to inform the people the path our “fearless” leaders are on?
            Never. And we wont.

I watched David Icke the other day, really not sure about his “lizard aliens” but other han that, he seems to have it pretty much figured, one world government, one currency etc

He has the connections of those groups involved worked out well.

To achieve those goals (according to him) requires the destruction of the U.S. among other things, thus the consistant preasure on China and Russia to act.

Same sorta thing they did to Japan, push push push until there is no other choice.

Think people will figure it out? They never have before.

One thing I found interesting, was just how much opposition to Zionism there is in Israel, but, just like everywhere else, it makes no diffeance.
The Zionists control the U.S. and knowing it makes no differance, they are going to do whatever they want.

            Lovely day here in Calgary.

That is your stupid opinion Bob M , but you will never get it! You are good at calling tops and bottoms in the precious metals market, politically you are a defuss! DT

If Trump and Clinton represent the best in American politics, just who would represent the worst? Trump is a clueless clown and Clinton is a crook. Neither has the qualifications to become a local dogcatcher much less hold the most powerful political office in the world.

Wow Bob, another one of the progressive koolaid drinkers calls you’re stupid and a political defuss for telling the 100% truth about the coming elections.

I can clearly see why Barbra would feel the way she does and I can see why you may not feel inclined to participate here much anymore.

I for one am sorry you have to put up with disrespectful sh*t like that.

I don’t have any real problem with people calling me names. What I have a giant problem with is the abject ignorance of anyone who would give total support of either of the fools leading the race for president. I like the fact that Trump is anti-big government but what on earth drives him to keep putting his foot in his mouth?

As to Hillary, if you want WW III before November, all you need to do is support the Clinton crime family.

I’m not sure how that qualifies me as stupid. And actually he did get one thing right, I am pretty good at calling tops and bottoms.

There is a theory that he is chronically sleep-deprived:

I suffer from insomnia, so I know that, at least, some of the below symptoms are true.

            Symptoms include:

            A. Mood Changes
            B. Difficulty Concentrating and Impaired Performance
            C. Memory and Thinking Problems, which includes:
            1. Poor planning
            2. Increased risk taking
            3. Disorganization
            4. Poor prioritization
            5. Focus on short-term rewards
            6. Decreased judgment

Sure there is high liquidity, but it is funny money. It is money created illegitimately out of thin air by corrupt governments; by governments and central banks that are out of control.
There can be no real price discovery of anything if governments are free to buy their own bonds and stocks. Sure prices will appear to go up if liquidity is expanded beyond any reasonable amount of population growth or productivity growth, but there will be a penalty to be paid in the future. It may be paid by us, or more likely by future generations. So why should we care? Enjoy the wine and circuses while the scum of politicians enrich themselves and their cronies at the expense of future generations, and we go along for the ride. I regret sometimes that I have a conscience and feel guilty about the amount of money I am making in the current markets. Sorry, for the rant!

      Aug 01, 2016 01:46 AM

Wine and circuses are not my main interest right now.

Trying to make a positive difference is my main interest!

A Curious Pattern of Comex “Deliveries”

Even though gold “deliveries” on the Comex are nothing but a charade and shuffle of paper warehouse receipts and warrants, the latest trend is a real eye-opener and appears to be a rather interesting datapoint of extreme demand for gold in all its forms.

Someone was asking about cannabis stocks a while back.

MJNA looked so tempting last friday that I had to sample some. I wanted some CBIS too, but it ran away from me. So I settled for some HEMP.

Is anybody following the small near-term Silver producer Cyprium Mining (CUG) (DFCPF) that just put their Potosi mine back into production (ramping up towards full commercial production) in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico ?

It is interesting to note they have exclusive rights to use the Aldama Floatation plant until 2019. They also have the old Copper mine at – Las Cristinas with 2 shafts, 2 levels, headframe and hoist in place that they’ll be using the Silver revenues to rehabilitate as things progress.

I’ll take a look this evening when I have more time.

Might be anther great tip !

        Aug 02, 2016 02:35 PM

Well, this one is still speculative, but I’m impressed with how quickly they got this mine back up and running, and on a very reasonable budget. I also like the their access to processing and the upside of the copper mine. With such a small share price it won’t take much to get a bigger percentage return, and Silver prices have been very encouraging lately.

      Aug 02, 2016 02:34 AM

I picked up some back when you first mentioned it. hasn’t gone anywhere since. thx for the tip. dw

        Aug 02, 2016 02:33 PM

I think Cyprium will need to prove themselves with a quarter or two of production results before investors even realize they are Silver producers once again. Also, they had a name change on this relaunch, so I just don’t think the awareness factor is there yet. I’m a patient person and am fine waiting to see how things progress. If the results are encouraging, I’ll add another tier.

Yep, I bought some shares too, just to stake out an early position. I’d rather be early to the party than miss the initial run…..just curious as to whether anyone else was following this company on here or had any more information on it.

I guess we’ll see how it goes, but with metal prices on the move, they may be more profitable than they were expecting, and it didn’t take much capital to refurbish the mine and get things up an running. This will likely be one of the sleeper stocks that is off the radar of most, and then suddenly in a few months or next year, it will take off like scalded cat……

          Aug 02, 2016 02:39 PM

It is also nice that they are neighbors with Mag Silver 🙂
