I wish folks would not say the US is the best country in the world to live in.
(It just means you have not travelled much!)

It is one of the better countries to live in. I have no problem with that statement.

    We all have different talents.
No person’s life is useless or wasted as long as he uses his talents to the best….

I guess the ‘best country’ is totally subjective, New Zealand’s very nice (especially if you like living in the 1950s). Anybody else got ideas for the best country (I’m from the UK, don’t think I would call it the best country – although its certainly OK)

The Danes and the Swiss score highest on happiness. But if Texas was ranked as a free nation it would score highest.

      Aug 03, 2016 03:22 AM

I haven’t been to Switzerland but The Swiss are known for being punctual, they have always liked law and order and cleanliness. I guess that comes from being the best watch makers in the world for years. This too is much like the 1950’s if you were white. Therefore Switzerland gets my vote for being an attractive place to live.

Big Al, I agree with so much of what you and Jay had to say. For my personal point of view, I believe we are literally spirit children of heavenly parents, who have sent us here to have a mortal experience, to see what we would do with what we know and understand and thus, we will determine for ourselves what we are made of. In a way, it is like being sent away for school to learn things we can only learn in mortality and be experience. As we live according to the knowledge we have, we demonstrate who we are and eventually will have to account for what we did in conjunction with what we knew. We may not be able to change the world per se, but we can change the world for others in a positive way, as we interact with them and do what we can to bless their lives. We could say to ourselves “Have I done any good in the world today, have I lifted anyone in need, if I haven’t I have failed indeed.” We can’t do everything, but we can do something and that is sufficient.

        I agree.

Also, great discussion by Mr. Big Al Korelin and Jay Taylor.

I hope we hear much more on this subject here.

I agree Switzerland is very ‘tidy’ my only complaints are that a) they are very dull (if anyone cane name a Swiss comedian I’d be impressed) and b) their supermarkets and food in general is quite awful

      Aug 03, 2016 03:56 AM

The Danes have a comedian, Victor Borge, known all over the world, and their food is fantastic. I can’t understand why the Danes eat so well, while the Norwegians eat cooked peas and carrots, and boiled potatoes every day! But Norway has better scenery than Denmark.

How the heck can JT say the U.S. is the best country in the world?
Everyone is entitled to opinion I guess.

The U.S. ranks 14th in education
The U.S. ranks 19th in national satisfaction
The U.S. ranks 44th in health care efficiency
The U.S. ranks 2nd in ignorance
The U.S. ranks 66th in religious diversity
The U.S. ranks 101st in peace
The U.S. ranks first in incarceration
The U.S. ranks 2nd for approval of drone strikes
    (behind Israel,surprise surprise)
The U.S. ranks 23rd in gender equality
The U.S. ranks 46th in freedom of the press
    The U.S. ranks 26th in child well-being
The U.S. ranks 24th in literacy
