No matter how one fares in the ebbs and flows of life, economically, health wise, and in the other aspects of life, it is how one lives his life with an eternal perspective that will be the most important investment one will make. In the final analysis, when we leave mortality and enter the next phase of our existence (graduation as it were), we cannot take our possessions with us, but we do take our relationships, what we have learned and how we lived our life and what we have become. These things go with us. Wise investments in these things are of prime importance. don’t let the negatives and pitfalls of life deter you from the important things of life. When I lost big in my 401K during the 2008 time frame, I was sad for a few days, but then realized that I needed to be positive. After all, I was thankful that I had it to lose, as there were so many who could not afford the downturn economically. It was just money. I still had my good life, my family and my health.

Some deep and real thoughts going on here Al and Glen – thank you. But it’s hard when not thinking of our dumbed down youth staring into their Smart/Pokemon zombie world, or when hearing of Venezuela or Nigeria or a ton of other places not to feel deep despair. Sometimes that deep despair can encroach closer to home with family members too.
However our efforts, however small, to bring hope to others are what should keep us truly human and sane. I’m reminded in the Bible of the poor widow who when attending her temple slipped the only money she possessed – a paltry two mites into the offertory plate while the rich Pharisees were tossing in their gold shekels.
And how did Jesus react? He commended the widow for giving all that she had while the wealthier attendees gave only that which they could easily afford.
My guess is that heaven measures our endeavours, even when tiny in an entirely different way from how the world measures them.
That said, good investing to one and all! A

IAMGOLD’S net operating cash flow increases 125%

    GOLD MARGINS UP 36%

    TSX: IMG NYSE: IAG

TORONTO, Aug. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ – IAMGOLD Corporation (“IAMGOLD” or the “Company”) today reports its financial and operating results for the quarter ended June 30, 2016.

Steve Letwin, IAMGOLD President and CEO, commented, “The second quarter thrust us back into an earnings position and operating cash flow rose 125%. Positive support for a higher gold price continued in the quarter, with significant strengthening in June in anticipation of Brexit. Higher gold prices and lower cash costs drove margins up 36% from the previous year, as we continued our focus on cost reduction and productivity improvement. Operating performance continues to be in line with our expectations. With year-to-date production of 388,000 ounces and unit costs expected to be lower in the next two quarters, we remain confident in our guidance for the year. Rosebel and Essakane are generating free cash flow and, despite our capital spending needs this year with the development work at Westwood and the secondary crusher at Rosebel, we expect positive consolidated free cash flow for the second half of the year if gold remains above $1,300 an ounce

You don’t think the Big Zero has failed?

Germany’s domestic intelligence agency revealed that the Iranian government has pursued a “clandestine” path to obtain illicit nuclear technology and equipment from German companies “at what is, even by international standards, a quantitatively high level.”

A secret agreement, obtained by the Associated Press, discloses that Iran’s nuclear deal would not only lift constraints on Iran’s nuclear program after the nuclear deal, but it will also do so long before the deal expires — including the installation of thousands of centrifuges, five times more than what it currently possesses, as well enriching uranium at a much higher pace.

You think the Middle East is safer?
What planet are you living on?

        Aug 04, 2016 04:09 PM

        The never ending question, Professor.

        Aug 04, 2016 04:51 PM

        DFS:

The Iranians had to be pretty smart to fool those 16 US government intelligence agencies all of whom agree they have no nuclear weapons program and haven’t had since 2003.

Are we going back to the Mossad disinformation crap again. there is one country and only one country in the middle east with nuclear weapons and who have threatened to use them. That’s Israel. Everything else is disinformation and it’s an insult to keep bring it up, even the foreign minister of Israel said that Iran is not a threat to Israel. But we all know that and have known it all along.

I have no first hand information, Mr. Moriarty.
But I ask myself, Why would Iran refuse to allow inspection of their facilities?
And Why would the US agree with that as part of the deal?

It seems to me it was a Lose-Lose deal for the US, regardless of opinions about Israel.
I have not seen any improvement of Iran-US relations.
(Indeed, just an increase in hostage taking by Iran!)

            Aug 04, 2016 04:38 PM

            DFS:

Why would Israel refuse to allow inspection of their facilities? Why would the US allow that?

If you have followed the Iran saga at all you would be aware that by not allowing Iran access to the banking system, once again the US has reneged on an agreement. It is not Iran who is not in compliance, it is the US all in the name of fighting a “weapons” program that doesn’t exist.

Why don’t you address the 8000 pound gorilla shitting in the jello? That would be Israel and 400 nuclear weapons. It’s Israel that refuses to sign the NNPT and the US in total violation of the Symington Law. It’s illegal to provide aid to Israel.

How long are you going to wear those blinders where you have one set of rules for Iran who is not a threat to anyone and Israel who is a threat to everyone? You should address the issue of Israel being the guiding power behind all the chaos in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Lebanon. Israel wants chaos and got it. Now we have 65 million refugees as a result. The refugee issue is destroying the EU and is the source for all of the terrorism in the world.

            Israel thinks that’s just wonderful.

I watched alot of the Syrian Girl videos, she is well aware its the Yinon plan.
If she is, alot of people in the region will be.

I think people are blind to Israel or more likely the Zionism in Israel (alot of opposistion to it in Israel) due to religion, Israel is a big deal to christians, so they close their eyes to the evil.
            Thats my theory anyway.

Thanks Mr Moriarty for setting the record straight. I do get so tired of DFS’s constant canards on this topic (in contrast to his usual useful info).

B, I’m sure most middle easterners are aware of the Yinon plan, unlike us North Americans. When something threatens everything they hold dear, people pay attention.

I agree, seems Israel/Zionism is a big deal to a certain strain of Christianity. I once worked with a born-again Christian, so got the whole scoop on his belief system. He just couldn’t wait for the second coming, when the ‘saved’ would leave their bodies behind as they go straight to heaven, while the rest of us are in for seven years of tribulations during which it will be extremely difficult to remain righteous and save our eternal souls. This strain of Christianity, to me, resembles a death cult, obsessing about the ‘end of times’.
