Is this a true reversal in oil and gold?
Today with Chris Temple we discuss the rebound in oil and gold. After selling off toward the lower part of ranges these assets are bouncing back. Are the moves today anything significant or simply just short-term oversold pops?

Long term gold, exactly Mr Temple.
Gold is good at preservation of purchasing power over 50 years.
So, a good question might be “Am I going to live another 50 years?”
Jim Sinclar is not talking about $5000 silver, he is talking about a hyperinflated currency.
Gold always stays the same, well, until bitcoin takes over anyway.
I’ve heard you can live an additional 50 years drinking nothing but palm oil. 😉
Hydrogenated palm oil, no.
But properly processed coconut oil is a ‘superfood’.
Definitely true that palm oil plantations have devastated southeast Asian rainforests. Look at Sumatra or Borneo in Google Earth. So have cattle and soy. But when you have 7 billion people and growing, devastation is difficult to avoid. Not impossible, I think, but it would involve many millions of small organic permaculture farmers rather than our current industrial agriculture paradigm.
Yes – it was just a Palm Oil jab, since somebody made such a big deal about it after a simple joke.
Honestly, I was already quite aware of the issue, as my girl is a health fanatic and an big proponent of environmental habitats, but he didn’t even bother to ask and decided to lecture me on it, (and attack my investing morality along with his assumptive negative comments; which were way off base and ridiculous).
In all seriousness, I do recommend Coconut Oil, and eat a spoonful of it daily, and also cook chicken and eggs with it. Much better than cooking with vegetable oils or even Olive Oil, as those convert to a different type of fat in higher heat that is bad for health. Olive Oil is best when fresh, sourced correctly and shipped in a timely manner, and eaten at room temperature. Same with Grape Seed Oil.

In the long term we are all dead except the evil ones like David Rockefeller, George Sorrows, Fidel Castro, Bill and Hillary Clinton and George Bush (both of them)….they will live forever.

Oil might be topping out for the short term. XOP has become overvalued vs oil. Inventories tomorrow should bring a sharp temporary drop. Producers are maxing out production so they can reduce to recent levels.
Not enough time left in the year for oil to reach $60. Low 50’s is possible.
People taking about 125,000 gold and 5,000 silver are just manipulating other people for their own ends IMPO.
For that to happen you would have seen the complete economic collapse of the entire world LONG BEFORE either got anywhere near those prices. People would be starving in the streets in their millions and a loaf of bread, if you could find one, would be… Well, I can’t even imagine the price of a loaf of bread then.
When someone tells you such crazy things for the price of gold and silver just laugh at them… then ask them what their agenda is.
The dollar will either last (function as money) forever or not. If not, gold will go to the moon . . . in dollars. Where in this mutable world do you find evidence that the dollar will last forever?
I think you are being ridiculous.
‘Forever’ – do you mean when the last star burns out, the Universe goes cold and then contracts back into a quantum singularity? If so, yes, I suspect the US Dollar will be long gone by then.
But hey, I doubt any of us will be worrying about it.
Why don’t we just think about what will happen in the lifetimes of most of the people currently reading this?

I do not believe anything Jim Sinclair says, he has lost all credibility. What did it for me were 2 comments on his website. 1. Where he said “maybe I am related to Alan Greenspan” and 2. Where he mentioned that he had someone dress up with middle eastern attire and marched him on the floor of the exchange near the 1980 peak. Those 2 admissions on his website were more than enough for me.
Jim is about Jim. He could care less about anyone but himself.
Not only that, he is and has been wrong for a very long time.
After failing on his calls, he said “I was told” that the price would be such and such on a particular date. Essentially blaming another. Typical strawman argument. Blame someone or something we can not verify.
I have well over 100 emails from him. And I can prove my comments.
When his company was moving up above $8.00, I decided to view his web page.
On it he had a picture of a truck that he had purchased. It was a beat up ratty piece of garbage truck.
I seriously hit the sell button at $8 plus and never looked back.
His claims of $10,000 then $50,000 and now you guys mention $100,000 prove without a doubt in my mind, they are numbers that are completely baseless and without merit. His objective is fear.
Analysis, no. Plus do not forget the word analysis is spelled ANALysis.
And the “lysis” part of analysis means split or breakdown. 😮

I still believe both Au and Ag are undervalued. Don’t get me wrong.
Republicans are notorious for wanting a gold backed currency. So even with a small 10% to 20% backing from this administration can not be ruled out. Especially if they decide to run up the deficit to fund fiscal stimulus. If the dollar weakens as a result of the deficits backing the currency to instill faith might be plausible.
I don’t believe that most current republicans like gold even though a few might pretend to. The ones who understood the virtues of gold reasonably well are mostly dead now, or at least long retired.
Deficit spending is the surest and quickest way to weaken the currency.
Sinclair must be on legalized marijuana. His forecast could be reached in a few hundred years so he will eventually be correct.

That’s as far-out as Jim’s call because linear extrapolation is useless.
In May, 1920, gold that cost 1,000 German marks cost 100,000,000,000,000 (100 trillion) marks just 3.5 years later.
Gold marks went up a trillion times versus paper makes in less than a decade.
