Wealth for society has NEVER been produced by Government or inflation.

Inflation is merely a way by which the Government steals from the people, when it runs out of taxing ability.
The real problem is the utter ignorance in which the general public lives with regard yo economics.
Unfortunately our politicians, for the most part, are no better educated.
(Alas, despite being a businessman, that also goes for Mr. Trump, with regard to free trade.

The debt is a problem, puclic and private, which will destroy the US.

Political Ideology has destroyed meaningful discussion on healthcare.
    There are two primary considerations.
    1, Providing healthcare for everyone.
    2. Provided the most cost-efficient way of delivering healthcare.

For for most part, Democrats are so blinded by their desire to provide healthcare for everyone, that they cannot see the relevance of cost.
On the other hand Republicans (at least many of them) are so focused on cost that they fail to place universal coverage at a high enough level of importance.

Of course, healthcare is important, if not an individual “right”. This has long been recognized in laws that provide that no one may be refused emergency care at a hospital, regardless of ability to pay.

It is so sad that both parties are now so entrenched that they fail to discuss the real issues in healthcare care. Without discussion, there can be no compromise. Without compromise we will never achieve an optimum healthcare system.

      Jan 07, 2017 07:39 AM

I think that both parties do recognize what you are saying CFS. The republicans are simply more focused on sensible alternatives to the present system.

With regard to “Russians try to influence the election”, so what?
That is what countries do. They try to change the world in the direction in which it is best for their own country. The US does the same. Case in point; just look at the actions of Victoria Nuland in Ukraine and the $5 Billion spent to influence their elections.

What the Democrats will never admit is Hillary’s criminally negligent behavior in failing to comply with the Espionage Act, when she used her own non-protected computer systems.
Neither will they discuss Mt. Podesta’s utter stupidity in using the word “password” as his password.
Those are the real security issues.

Further, President’s repeated division of the country; be it along lines of race hatred, inequalities of wealth, or political ideologies, has destroyed the possibility of political compromise and doing what is best for the country.
The extreme partisan nature now current in politics disgusts me.
The self-centered cronyism of greed among politicians, whether it be for personal financial gain, or for personal political gain, disgusts me more.
A pox on both your houses.

If you wish to determine wisdom of using gold as a safe-haven; and also the foolishness of governmental over-spending in destroying the value of a currency, you are invited to look at the bottom line on the table in this reference:
    http://goldprice.org/charts/history/gold-price-performance_x.png?1924122037

Notice how the loss in value of a currency correlates with excessive Government spending!

Loss in value of a currency does NOTHING for the general public, it merely allows the politicians to buy votes.

    Bill Murphy.
Where is a comment from Bob?

This manipulation was dissected here a few years ago, I have no intention of digging anything up.

As I recall, yes its manipulated, and its entirely legal.

Whats interesting is the occasional fine gets paid.

Gold to $5k, ok, but we have a 70 year supply above ground now, and that doesnt include “secret” hoards, if we have so much more than is needed and it does go to 3k? wouldnt there at least be a chance it got manipulated up?

jp morgan has gathered the biggest hoard of silver in human history, might be a time they move the price up.

      Jan 07, 2017 07:56 PM

they sure paint a rosy picture………….

    Jan 07, 2017 07:21 PM

    B:
Manipulation exists in all financial markets, we all know that. But manipulation can be legal or illegal. If you look at the tiny spike to new highs in the Dollar Index on the third, it appears to be shorts running the stops before tanking the dollar. That’s perfectly legal and it exists in every market.

But front running the fix which is what DM got caught doing is illegal and they have been (taxed) punished. You can’t push any commodity against the grain and actually if you weren’t buying or selling that day based on the fix, you weren’t affected at all. And you may have actually made a few cents if you were on the side of DM and the gang.

KN saying he is going to sue for damages is really close to fraud on his own shareholders. He knows damned well that he can’t prove damages. And anyone believing Murphy’s claim that gold was suppressed from $252 to $1923 needs their head examined. I wouldn’t cross the road to pee in Murphy’s ear if his brains were on fire. He is the biggest fraud in the business and his constant message of “you should own gold because it’s manipulated by the biggest players in the financial markets” is utterly insane. He makes owning gold look like the act of a mad man.

Here’s his background. Let’s see how long it takes for GATA to address that issue.

Front running the fix….I believe it was adrian douglas that wrote many articles about just that. He did some pretty fine work actually.

The legal manipulation I was talking about (Im sure your aware of) was blatantly stated by LB Johnston when silver was removed from currency 64? 65?

Anyway, I agree with you on manipulation, I dont see it mattering.

        Jan 07, 2017 07:31 PM

        B:

No one has ever written about that. But when the silver was removed from coins in 1965, 1964 being the last year of 90% silver coins, those coins changed from being an asset of those who held them to a liability of the government. You had something in your pocket with real value that you could always melt and sell and it was replaced with slugs. It resulted in billions being stolen from Americans.

Inflation is theft and it’s always deliberate on the part of the government. Wait until they figure out all their retirements are going up in smoke. Teachers, firemen and police are going to be the first to riot.

          I agree with your points.

You might find Mr Douglas’s work interesting.
He identified a trade that was about as consistent as the gold silver ratio you spoke about.
Has to do with the fix I believe.

When the markets start to decline and they close them the public won’t realize that it is panic that forced the closure instead they will think the government is being prudent and getting it’s house in order. I think that it is about time to do some research on many of the players in the industry. I think that the research is appropriate give the fact that many of them are “in a sense” giving investment advice.

Why don’t you start with Thom Calandra among others?

      We have to be fair.

      Jan 08, 2017 08:27 PM

Bob, you certainly make an interesting point.

In all fairness how about we identify all those folks with black marks in their pasts not just those who we personally dislike. The industry is fully of them.

Maybe start with Thom Calandra as his fine from the SEC for front running, I believe, was substantially larger that Bill’s.

        Jan 08, 2017 08:04 PM

        Al:

TC did screw up, I agree but Murphy thinks he has an unlimited right to attack me and I’m going to convince him that he does not. Murphy is still running a scam and is the most destructive force in the industry. TC isn’t costing people money and GATA has cost people hundreds of millions.

The constant message that you should own gold because it’s suppressed is pretty close to insane. And telling people to buy at tops is close to criminal. If TC was costing people money, I would be as harsh.

There is no such thing as “naked short selling” That’s a fact, not an opinion. There is no “Comex Default” possible, that’s a fact, not an opinion. There is no “Commercial Signal Failure”, that’s fact, not an opinion.

All those are signs of either con men or parrots. I cover it all in my book. Give them all the air time you want, investors are starting to wake up and they see who the con men are. Murphy is just the biggest con man out there. Did you bother reading his record, it’s quite remarkable? This wasn’t exactly a case of a little front running. He and his two brothers were running a giant con.

        http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=26507312

          Jan 08, 2017 08:45 PM

          Thanks for the reply Robert.

I read the SEC material regarding TC and asked him about it. He said that he could not discuss it because of legal advice and I do respect that. Consequently; the only information that I have to go on is the official documentation from the SEC.

I think that TC is a very personable guy and commend him for not giving up. But then again, I understand that his financial position did not force him to give up.

Front running is illegal because it does cost others money. Front running is also, in my opinion, immoral. Disclosure prevents this immoral axctivity from occurring.

Here is an example of moral action” 321 Gold which seems to disclose everything. Or for that matter KER.

            Jan 08, 2017 08:46 PM

I agree and I’m opposed to front running. TC did it, got caught and paid a big price. Bill Murphy stole from 194 of his own clients. That’s not just immoral, that’s illegal and if there was any justice on Wall Street, Murphy would be in a cell next to Corzine.

Murphy was a thief and today he’s just a fraud. But he’s costing people who listen to him a lot more money than when he was just stealing.

Obviously there cannot be naked shorting on the COMEX because it operates under different rules. It is, however, manipulated for short time periods close to contract closing dates, as has been repeatedly shown.
