    OFF TOPIC:
    Trump Asian Policy.
In a joint Japanese-U.S. statement after the weekend,Abe-Trump meeting in the United States, it was reported that the two leaders affirmed that Article 5 of the U.S.-Japan security treaty, which covers the islands, known as the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China.

Today China’s Foreign Ministry expressed displeasure at Japan getting continued U.S. backing for its dispute with Beijing over the islands in the East China Sea. (Reuters)
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said China was “seriously concerned and resolutely opposed”, claiming that the islands had been China’s inherent territory since ancient times.
“No matter what anyone says or does, it cannot change the fact that the Diaoyu Islands belong to China, and cannot shake China’s resolve and determination to protect national sovereignty and territory,” according to Geng.
Thus as Trump rebuilds the “One China” bridge he burned in December after his discussions with Taiwan, he appears to have started burning another one as he sides with Japan on a topic that is just as sensitive to China as the Taiwan issue: its territorial claims in both the South and East China Sea. Here, at least U.S, policy has been more consistent in defending sea-lanes, but China probably considers the US amateurish in its foreign policy inconsistencies. They will probably test US resolve in the coming weeks in the South China Seas.
Meanwhile Russia is clearly undermining the US activities in Afghanistan in particular and other parts of the Middle East; largely unnoticed by the US press. Russia is not an ally.

Al, my grandparents got out of Dodge around the time of the Russian revolution. Headed to NYC. One that stayed behind participated as a captain. I’m not sure on which side in the scrum. Got shot. Hung around St. Petersburg. And became a composer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjG03wDOCTA&list=PL86xnRTiSiNHAurrBX3MoVyLznht0O5q3&index=3
