What I believe that President Trump said in Poland
There is a lot of rhetoric coming out in the Press, perehaps most recently The Atlantic, that is negative about what President Trump said in Poland. Here is how award winning columnist Peggy Noonan put it in her most recent “Delarations”
“And so to President Trump’s speech in Warsaw.
Near the top he deftly evoked John Paul’s 1979 visit and the sermon that brought on the chants. “A million Polish people did not ask for wealth. They did not ask for privilege. Instead, one million Poles sang three simple words: ‘We want God!’ ” He called the Polish people “the soul of Europe.”
It was a grown-up speech that said serious things. Article 5, the NATO mutual defense commitment, is still operative. Missile defense is necessary. He called out Russia for its “destabilizing activities.” He spoke as American presidents once did, in the traditional language of American leadership, with respect for alliances.
But he did it with a twist: The West is not just a political but a cultural entity worth fighting for. It is a real thing, has real and radical enemies, and must be preserved.
A lovely passage: “We write symphonies. We pursue innovation. We celebrate our ancient heroes . . . and always seek to explore and discover brand-new frontiers. We reward brilliance. We strive for excellence. . . . We treasure the rule of law and protect the right to free speech and free expression. We empower women as pillars of our society and our success. . . . And we debate everything. We challenge everything. We seek to know everything so that we can better know ourselves.”
If he talked like this at home, more of us would be happy to have him here. If he gives serious, thoughtful, prepared remarks only when traveling, he should travel more.”
Many thanks CFS.
Just for comparison I picked up the New York Times today and its account of the meeting between President Trump and Mr. Putin seemed pretty fair to me.

cc works on this one.
Trump is huge in Poland. So, there’s that
http://www.politico.eu/article/donald-trump-huge-in-poland-warsaw-speech/
Interesting article especially pointing out the “rent-a-crowd” So, I assume that the whole thing was simply contrived? Is that correct AJ?
I am simply asking a question. Notice my comment about the NYT above to CFS.
We treasure the rule of law…….ya can always tell when a politician is lying, their lips move.
Trump can say all the glowing words he wants…doesn’t change the fact that the West is committing suicide….or more accurately…it is being killed off by our rulers and their puppets such as angela merkel…and obviously our real enemy is not Putin…
Just ask yourself….why is an ancient East German commie like merkel chancellor for life?…or damn near it
Another good point, Eddy.
By the way, why do you say she is a Communist?
She was an old East German communist party hack.
‘Closeness to the System’
But former German Transport Minister Günther Krause — an eastern German politician who worked with her in the final months of the GDR and as a fellow minister in the government ex-chancellor Helmut Kohl in the early 1990s — contradicts her in the book and says she propagated Marxism-Leninism.
“With Agitation and Propaganda you’re responsible for brainwashing in the sense of Marxism,” he said. “That was her task and that wasn’t cultural work. Agitation and Propaganda, that was the group that was meant to fill people’s brains with everything you were supposed to believe in the GDR, with all the ideological tricks. And what annoys me about this woman is simply the fact that she doesn’t admit to a closeness to the system in the GDR. From a scientific standpoint she wasn’t indispensable at the Academy of Sciences. But she was useful as a pastor’s daughter in terms of Marxism-Leninism. And she’s denying that. But it’s the truth.”
You would think that in a country of 81 million people they could find at least one person who was not a commie to be chancellor…apparently not.
Here she is in her commie uniform getting her brainwashing….

Thanks for looking into this Eddy!
I kind of have to agree with you on this one, Eddy.
I did not truly understand nor appreciate the U.S.-Poland alliance until serving alongside a Polish contingent during combat. Polish soldiers and officers are among the finest, most professional and dedicated men and women you will find. The president’s speech in Poland was excellent and befitting of a strong relationship, one that predates NATO.
In 1926, about 5.5 million Poles signed a “Happy Independence Day card” over an eight-month period to mark the 150th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence in 1776. This was an incredible expression of gratitude for the help the U.S. gave the Poles during World War I.
Steele,
Many thanks for you great information. So much for the “paid for audience” that I referred to above.
Why don’t people give the President at least a bit of credi?
Steele, that’s good stuff, thanks.
You must understand history, The Second World War started when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939. The Germans and The Russians had carved up Poland before this invasion. The Poles were double crossed by two countries and they suffered terribly under The German occupation during The Second World War. The medieval city of Warsaw with it’s famous universities was systematically destroyed by The Germans. In 1944 The Russians chose not to help the Polish freedom fighters and instead allowed The German army to destroy The Polish underground or Warsaw ghetto while sitting with their troops outside this city. When The Germans had defeated The Polish underground they moved their troops in to fight The Germans. The Russians wanted The Polish resistance to be destroyed by The Germans so they would not have little opposition left from the Wehrmacht.
Many Polish citizens moved to The US after The Second World War and to this day they still view The Americans as liberators which they were at this time. DT
little should read any
Both Germany and Soviet Russia invaded Poland,
yet war was never declared on communist Russia.
Why? The ‘allies’ were becoming communist!
Scenes you probably did not see around the G20 Summit:

I just watched the video.
Strikes me that what I saw is the norm rather than the eception
exception. Again, sorry for the typo!
FDR and Eleanor loved the Soviet Union and Stalin.
And a round of thanks to you Mr. Tracy for this commet.
Yet again, I have to ask why don’t some people at least give a little credit to President Trump.
I have to again give credit where credit is due and reiterate the “fairness” of the NYT article on Saturday describing the meeting between President Trump and Mr. Putin.
I like Putin’s displayed public personality:

Judge for yourself.
(You may have to watch several times, because it is hard to both read the translation of what he is saying and watch closely his eyes and body language.
I was referring to the first part of the above, of course.
The rest of the video was interesting in its propaganda.

Under what right or power could the United States Government enter into such agreement?
i.e. Does any government have the right to denationalize its citizens?
Speaking of trump’s speech as something historical and recognizing history is nothing more than a fable agreed upon and as agreement isn’t possible in this polarized nation………the significance of the speech will depend on which version of history one reads! May not matter. Mauldin has finally gotten off his ‘muddle through’ theory and expects turbulence down the road: http://www.mauldineconomics.com/frontlinethoughts/prepare-for-turbulence#fb-root
Trump’s admiration for Putin is constant. Everything else is gibberish.
the usatoday is garbage, just like most of CNN; biased, ill-informed opinions.
Good for wrapping garbage up in, or catching dripping paint, or starting a bonfire…..2 cents.
