Worries about the markets and an updated from a Novo site visit

Cory
August 24, 2017

John Kaiser, Editor of Kaiser Research, shares some of his worries for the US equity markets. We then step back and look how story stocks such as Novo would be impacted by a market fall. John recently spent a couple days on the Novo properties in Karratha. He is still very optimistic.

I am a shareholder (John is not a shareholder but the Company is a recommendation) and Novo is a sponsor on the site.

If you missed Novo, maybe you can make up with Americas Silver: They’re drilling some spectacular property also: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/americas-silver-corporation-provides-an-exploration-update-on-its-cosala-operations-property-2017-08-24?siteid=bigcharts&dist=bigcharts

Agreed. Bring it on Americas Silver….. San Rafael coming on line and ramping up over the next few months will be a game changer for (USA) (USAS).

I expect 2018 to really be the year where the blow it out in a big move upwards. Their AISC in 2018 is targeted to be around $3-$4 due to all the Zinc & Lead credits.

        Aug 24, 2017 24:52 AM

“We are very encouraged by the initial success of this drilling,” said Darren Blasutti, President & CEO of Americas Silver Corporation. “Not only did the infill drilling increase the confidence of the existing resource at Zone 120, but the step out drilling to the southern extension confirms our geologists view of a larger, more robust system which could extend to the El Cajón deposit.”

“Silver-copper mineralization is hosted in limestone adjacent to a large intrusive and related dikes which underlies most of the area shown in the map above, including the approximately 500 meter unexplored gap between Zone 120 and El Cajón. Mineralization occurs in discreet horizons and lenses of tetrahedrite and chalcopyrite localized in structural traps created by dikes and contact irregularities of the intrusive. Additional drilling in 2017 is planned to extend and further define the mineralization as well as to support economic and technical studies aimed at evaluating potential development scenarios. The potential project will benefit from its close proximity to the San Rafael deposit, currently in development.”

        Highlights of the program include:

Step-out hole SR-396 with 61.4 meters grading 306g/t Ag, 0.23g/t Au and 0.79% Cu (412g/t AgEq) including 5.9 meters of 932g/t Ag, 0.82g/t Au and 1.94% Cu (1,213g/t AgEq) plus another interval of 9.4 meters grading 479g/t Ag, 0.29g/t Au and 1.07% Cu (622g/t AgEq)
        Step-out hole SR-401 with 39.6 meters grading 205g/t Ag, 0.28g/t Au and 0.53% Cu (289g/t AgEq) including 11.4 meters of 473g/t Ag, 0.68g/t Au and 1.20% Cu (659g/t AgEq)

        Infill hole SR-391 with 22.81 meters grading 138g/t Ag, 0.22g/t Au and 0.37% Cu (196g/t AgEq2) including 4.0 meters of 460g/t Ag, 0.20g/t Au and 0.88% Cu (575g/t AgEq)

Infill hole SR-392 with 18.1 meters grading 113g/t Ag, 0.08g/t Au and 0.17% Cu (138g/t AgEq)

Artemis Resources, One Man Band and Flavor of the Week

    Bob Moriarty – Aug 23, 2017

“Now if we go to the Artemis Resources’ website, we can see that Novo’s JV partner at Karratha is in the gold business. And base metals, and platinum and platinum group elements and antimony and iron ore and last but hardly least, graphite in Greenland. But the website could use a makeover because I think they dumped the graphite in Greenland venture last year. And I forgot, it’s not covered on their website but the latest flavor of the week for Artemis is cobalt and of course, nickel and if you count the resource at Mt Clement, silver. And operating some sort of mill.”

“Two months ago Artemis had a market cap of about $20 million Aussie. Now they may well believe they have the bandwidth to support gold and silver exploration, platinum exploration, base metals exploration, antimony exploration, iron exploration, cobalt and nickel exploration and graphite in Greenland but nobody in the market gave them any credibility.”

“While they actually identified the gold at Purdy’s Reward as being possible a Wits type deposit in February, there wasn’t anyone in the company who understood what that might mean. And when Novo stakes a whole bunch of ground and releases a brilliant set of assays, Artemis doesn’t even have a single geologist in the company who knows enough about the Witwatersrand gold to know that there was no watermelon seed gold found in the Wits. The gold was far smaller than the nuggets found at Purdy’s Reward.”

“No newsletter writer in the world would take such a company seriously. Nobody in geology could possibly do justice to that many different minerals. Flavor of the month companies always fail…”

Speaking of history, this is funny.

Two days before Lincoln’s inauguration as the 16th President, Congress, consisting only of the Northern states, passed overwhelmingly on March 2, 1861, the Corwin Amendment that gave constitutional protection to slavery. Lincoln endorsed the amendment in his inaugural address, saying “I have no objection to its being made express and irrevocable.”

Quite clearly, the North was not prepared to go to war in order to end slavery when on the very eve of war the US Congress and incoming president were in the process of making it unconstitutional to abolish slavery.

I guess one thing black people have had on their side from the beginning is the constitution is meaningless.

Silver is down and the silver miners are up. This is just the change in behavior I was expecting.

    SILJ priced in SLV:

    http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SILJ%3ASLV&p=D&yr=0&mn=4&dy=0&id=p91861573729

      Aug 24, 2017 24:33 AM

Yeah I noticed a lot of green on my screen today for the miners even though the metal were hum-ho. That’s a good sign.

      Aug 24, 2017 24:14 PM

One day does not a trend make.

Also, nothing goes down in a straight line.

        Aug 24, 2017 24:30 PM

Agreed. Also, nothing goes UP in a straight line.

On Jan 19th, 2016 the Precious Metals miners bottomed (after Gold had double-bottomed in late December 2015).

The surge up in metals and the miners in 2016 broke above a number key prior resistance peaks and troughs from years before, and blasted up through a number of key Moving Averages that hadn’t been taken out in years during the Bear market. That was the tectonic shift in the trend, and the bell ringing that Bear market was finally over and the Baby Bull had been born.

Since the last Summer highs in August those massive gains have been digested and things have consolidated back sideways to down over the last year.

Now the next leg of the bull market is getting ready to begin, precisely at the time of year that is seasonally strongest for Gold & Silver if you look at at 20 year chart from 1996 – 2015. (2016 of course being an outlier year with the trend reversal).

When we start seeing days like today where the miners still advance even when the metals are sluggish/down, then that is a constructive signal. We’ll need to see more than just one day as you mentioned, but we haven’t seen this kind of bifurcation since the first quarter.

        Aug 24, 2017 24:51 PM

Spanky, leave it to you to miss the writing on the wall and see bearishness where there is none.
But you are correct about trends and straight lines! 😉

          Aug 25, 2017 25:45 AM

Today silver is up and silver miners are down. Just the change in behavior I was expecting.

            Aug 25, 2017 25:10 AM

And when the metals spiked down this morning, my portfolio gave up nothing. Black candles dude, black candles! Ahhhh! lol

Great comments on NOVO….thanks for sharing……..

      Aug 24, 2017 24:49 PM

      On Novo:

One thing that virtually everyone is missing has to do with Banded Iron Formations. Where you have these 2.7-2.9 billion year old basins you always have banded iron formations. With no debate everyone agrees the banded iron precipitated out of salt water in the presence of oxygen from single cell creatures.

If the Hammersley Basin, Pilbara region is host to one of the largest and richest banded iron formations in the world, doesn’t it also logically follow that the gold did the same thing?

Thanks for all the comments about Novo. Sounds like if any of you have shares, you need to sell them so others can buy them.

60 Minutes with Jonathan Fitzgerald, Chairman, Anaconda Mining (ANX) (ANXGF)

    by @Newton on August 25, 2017

“We’re excited by the opportunity to work with a very strong management and operations team at Anaconda and we intend this transaction to be one of several more to come. This transaction sets the corner-stone for a much better business as it combines complementary assets with strong management and exemplary corporate governance. This is a story that we’d like to see evolve substantially over time. We’re looking at the next three to five years, not the next three to five quarters.”

“The Nova Scotia mining scene was waiting for someone to serve as a catalyst… and that catalyst was Atlantic Gold. In a short period of time, the Nova Scotia mining scene went from moribund to highly active. Resource Capital Group acquired Dufferin from its creditors and added the Tangier and Forest Hill mines. Osprey Gold acquired the Goldenville deposit and followed with the acquisition of Lower Seal Harbor, Gold Lake, Miller Lake and, most recently, the Caribou gold mine. NS Gold continues to own and support its Mooseland project, though it does not possess the acquisition ambitions of the others.”

“Atlantic Gold’s leadership came at a time when the junior resource sector was gaining some stability after many years of weak investor interest and poor liquidity. This brought renewed attention to Nova Scotia gold mining. With this attention came ambition, capital and competition to acquire assets.”

“I wish I had moved quicker and with greater ambition, but that sentiment comes with the knowledge of hindsight. Our analysis suggested that Goldboro had the best combination of grade, known resource and resource growth potential in the region.”

“Much of the excitement is still to come. We have a lot of ambition for this business.”
