      1. It’s probably not a crisis. Crisis is a word used by big government types who are looking for another excuse to steal from citizens.

      2. What happened to the war on drugs? Obviously, given government’s failure at winning that war, they ought not to even be considered for solving this “problem.”

      3. What happened to public education (gubmint skools)? Can’t they teach American’s not to do drugs?

Conclusion: If we have a crisis, it’s because of too much government and not enough personal responsibility. More government (spending, programs, task forces, committees, etc.) is the wrong direction.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:35 AM

Very well stated Wayne. Agreed. Its an education issue, and more government involvement and resources fighting another losing “war” is NOT the answer.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:14 PM

This is the state …..not the Fed……which is bringing the issue to court…….The FED govt can not do anything right.

          Sep 19, 2017 19:08 PM

The Federal Government is pretty good at creating debt and raising the debt ceiling.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:59 PM

Yep, it does it better than the best of the totally irresponsible spenders!

        Sep 19, 2017 19:24 PM

The war on drugs is going as well as the war on poverty, the war on cancer, the war in Viet Nam, and the war on terror.

          +1 Bonzo Barzini

          Sep 19, 2017 19:01 PM

I have personally not seen much in the way of results, Bonzo, pertaining to the war on poverty.

Now, the war on cancer, seems to be progressing fine.

By the way, a really interesting book kind of dealing with this is “A Crack in Creation” I highly recommend it.

As far as I know it is, indeed, a crisis.

Doesn’t mean the gov’t is the solution. What they could do to help is to stop sheltering the pharma criminals. the Drug War is a farce.

I was in the Spokane area in about 1997 or so, around Christmas time. On the news they reported that 75 meth labs had been busted that year in Spokane County alone.

They hook people, especially women, on anti-depressants in an incredibly predatory way. Emotional distress? Here, take this dangerous, highly addictive drug. Since 1990, 42 of 50 school shootings have been under the influence of these drugs.

I imagine they hand out the dangerous, highly addictive pain-killers like candy too.

There is definitely a drug crisis in the US. Legal and illegal drugs. The primary reason, imo, is the poisoned reality that the oligarchy has created in the US. When everything important is a lie, people will suffer mentally and emotionally. Who is lying to us through the mass media 24/7?

In most cases there are better ways to control pain than what mainstream doctors will offer. But you’ll usually have to find out about it without their help. Take responsibility for your own health–the info is out there for those willing to look for it.

          Sep 19, 2017 19:36 PM

It could be tied to 22% unemployment, 50% unemployment in some groups, off shoring of jobs, maintaining low interest rates for savers, transferring wealth to the .001%, corrupted Federal Regulators, Washington lobbyists, Citizens United, robots, educational costs, false accounting methods, lack of criminal prosecutions…to name just a few.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:09 PM

I’m sure all of those contributing factors play a part in the stress the citizens feel.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:08 PM

But wait David! Isn’t the war on poverty supposed to stop all of that!

          Sep 19, 2017 19:06 PM

          Great comments GH. Agreed.

            Sep 19, 2017 19:27 PM

Al: The war on poverty appears successful as many poor people have lost the war. Did I get that right?

          Sep 19, 2017 19:06 PM

GH, I started reading a book called “The Fine Art of Not Giving a F**k.

It is a very interesting and sensible way to look at your life and I highly recommend it.

A lot of the dangerous and personally harmful activities people subject themselves to would be eliminated if they simply read this book.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:57 PM

Of course, I completely agree with you Wayne. Just another part of the “if it feels good do it” mentality.

I am very lucky because I found out a long time ago that prescription pain killers make me sicker than a dog, thank God!

      Sep 19, 2017 19:51 AM

I was in NYC a few years back and like many tourists I visited Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was amazing. One of the biggest gallery over there was named Sackler gallery. I was so impressed by it, I wondered who the donor was. Was he a big Wall Street guy, etc.? Nope. The guy is the owner of Purdue Pharm which started to market synthetic heroin and then went on to create the current national opoid crisis single handedly!!! The lesson learned: You can make zillions selling opium legally!!!! LOL

        Sep 19, 2017 19:02 PM

        Good one………..

      Sep 19, 2017 19:55 PM

Yep, it is a HUGE problem and Seattle is at the height of it among other cities.

      Sep 20, 2017 20:43 PM

The assumption by many that somehow the intense hurricanes of 2017 are due to Global Warming and CO2 is wrong. I am an scientist, with several environmental science degrees, and 40 years of experience. I am sick and tired of the media and politicians preaching the lies of global warming or climate change. By far, the main driver of Earth’s climate is the Sun. There are solar cycles of 11 years, 104 years, 206 years, 400+ years, 1600+ years, etc., etc. These cycles control our weather. They are predictable, if one only stops to observe them. We are currently right on the door step of a serious decline in the energy output of our Sun. The Sun and temperatures just had a double peak in 2016. We have entered the decline into a Grand Solar Minimum. During grand solar minimums our planet always has much colder temperatures and also much wetter conditions. Al Gore and his disciples will be praying for global warming in just a few years from now. During the last two grand solar minimums (The Dalton Minimum (1790 to 1831)& The Maunder Minimum (1635 to 1715)) crops failed worldwide. Starvation and the downfall of empires always occurs during these minimums. For those of you that are interested in properly educating yourself concerning what is about to occur over the next several decades, then I suggest you search, read, and listen to any are all of these scientists: David Dilley http://www.globalweatheroscillations.com
http://www.climatedepot.com ; David DuByne at Adapt2030; John Casey’s books “Cold Sun”, “Dark Winter”, & “Upheaval”; The Grand Solar Minimum Channel with Jake and Lee Wheelbarger; Ben Davidson at SuspiciousObservers.org – “A Weatherman’s Guide to the Sun”; Lord Christopher Monckton; IceAgeNow.com; Rolf Witzche “Ice Age of the Diminishing Sun”; Willie Soon; etc. Also, look at the recent work of astrophysicist Valentina Zharkova. Global temperatures will drop dramatically from 2017 until the winter of 2024/2025. By 2021 of 2022, global crop failures will show everyone what real climate change is. And this grand solar minimum will last for the rest of our lives and our children’s lives. I don’t really care what global warming/climate change believers think or don’t think. It doesn’t really matter. The Sun doesn’t care. It just goes through cycles. And this is a Big One! And the Sun’s got my back.

Walgreens and Rite Aid have finally devised a combination of the nation’s largest and third-largest drugstore chains that will get past antitrust regulators.

The companies said Tuesday that they have Federal Trade Commission clearance for a slimmer version of a store-purchase agreement announced in June. Walgreens will now spend $4.38 billion on 1,932 stores, three distribution centers and inventory.

The drugstore chains had said earlier this summer that Walgreens planned to spend about $5.18 billion on 2,186 stores.

That deal marked a step down from Walgreens’ initial plan to take over Camp Hill, Pennsylvania-based Rite Aid Corp. for $9.4 billion. That deal spent a couple of years in regulatory review before the companies abandoned it.

Deerfield, Illinois-based Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. says the latest deal should be completed by spring.

The problem with anthropomorthic climate change theories is very simple.
How do you explain the fact that ice cores show that there has been an earlier period in history when CO2 levels were much higher as were temperatures, but that then the climate changed to the cooler. i.e. that CO2 levels could not be responsible for warming.

      b
      Sep 19, 2017 19:31 AM

At one time the earth was hot, alot of clouds, low gravity.
And it cooled, your talkin millions if not billions of years.
which we know is not true cause weve only been here 5k years.

The earth went thru 5 mass extinction cycles/events in that time, our current mass extinction is brought on by us, thats the dif.

Ive been told the scientist that coined the phrase “global warming” wished he hadnt, he should have said climate change, some places get warmer, others colder so we get people arguing we are not warming.

You dont need to be a scientist to see we are warming, look at the poles and glaciers, the ice is melting.
A simple experiment, take an ice cube from the freezer, put on your counter and see if it melts.
I know, but ice melts when….it gets warmer.

For effects such as pine beetles destroying forest or warm water fish moving north warm oceans creating stronger hurricanes etc
      explanations from scientist might help

But really, ya only need half a brain and your own eyes to see whats happening.

The comment that Rick made, governments collecting cash to help things, I tend to agree with.
At this point tho there doesnt seem to be another option.

Maybe that massive tech left to us by the aliens…who knows?

The obvious fact of a constantly changing climate has nothing to do with the controversy, which is whether or not there is problematic, anthropogenic climate change. And even if there is, do the proposed solutions make sense?

          Sep 19, 2017 19:36 PM

Perhaps he should look into the carbon cycle.
That’s what he’s attempting to talk about here.
All living things on earth contain carbon.
Where did all the elements on earth come from? Well, it’s this thing called “the Big Bang” or maybe you prefer something else. To each their own I suppose.
Either way, there is a set amount of carbon here (on earth). Again, perhaps a brushing up on elementary school science is in order here.

Theories are testable – okay… a good hypothesis can be tested yes. That’s a part of the scientific method. I may be missing the point of the comment.

The temperature is measured with a thermometer.
If you have one sitting in your house it will tell you the ambient temperature.

As for the earth’s core, if that is what you are referring to, scientists use seismic waves to determine what the earth is made of, and based on that and the fact that there is a magnetic field on earth they believe it is made of iron.

We have determined the melting point of iron and therefore can estimate the temperature of the earth’s core.

Burning fossil fuels is in no way carbon recycling.
Burning oil moves it to the atmosphere, it doesnt recycle back to the earth.

I think most environmentalists want to avoid destroying the planet in short. We only have the one you see.

A response from a scientist friend of mine for ya Wayne.

            GH
            Sep 19, 2017 19:04 PM

Deforestation and tilling soil have released huge amounts of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. I’ve come across more than one soil scientist that says a transition to no-till permaculture, even for just 20% of global food production, would remove the supposed excess CO2. Not a bad solution–a dagger in Monsanto’s eye AND an end to using AGW to leverage global governance. And much better for the environment and our health in general even if AGW is BS.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:55 PM

        b,

You mean the folks who landed in Arizona and stole all the women!

      Sep 19, 2017 19:42 AM

It’s a model. Theories are testable. Besides, how do you measure the temperature of the earth? Where do you stick the thermometer? When do you read the thermometer? One other thing. Where did the carbon come from? Burning fossil fuels is carbon recycling. What do environmentalists want to do, starve the rain forest? Trees, all plants, need carbon dioxide to live. No carbon dioxide means no plants means no food means we’re dead.

      Sep 19, 2017 19:49 PM

I did not know that, Professor.

Theralase is one of my favorite companies – I just get very frustrated with the reality of stock markets. Theralase should be worth at least 3X the current market cap, based on Phase 1b results and potential for other cancer cures. I just don’t get it – maybe David is correct, unethical manipulation of the stock (Spoofing/Layering, Warrants, Running stops?). It seems to be capped at $C 50 cents.

      Ex

I have been building my position in MMG these past few weeks – I may add one more block of shares this week. The announcement today is really interesting, as drill results are imminent and they just added a LOT of new land for exploration with histoic grades > 100 OZ/ton. I think AXU/MMG is a great pairing for an investor interested in PURE SILVER explorer/developer/miners AND in the YUKON area.

As we have been discussing, one approach to junior mining investing is to hold 2-3 companies in the EACH area of the world you like the best, for whatever reasons.

        Sep 19, 2017 19:29 PM

Yes, Brian, I agree with holding 2/3 positions in an area play, and the Yukon is finally getting the attention it deserves. Yes, I’ve been watching MMG with keen interest and invested in them last year on a good run when they were Monster Mining. 🙂

Their CEO Greg Johnson was the old CEO over at Wellgreen when I was a shareholder in them but was replaced by Diane Garrett, who is more competent at getting mines built. Greg is great at exploration though and he is the right kind of CEO to have at MMG at present to expand their resources. Yes, when Alexco gets into production next year and gets the cashflow coming in they very well may want to merge with MMG to consolidate the whole Keno Hill district. Also, if memory serves MMG has land over adjacent to ATAC Resources. I could see them spinning that off separate from the Keno Hill land package as well, or selling it to raise funds. Right now I’m in a nice position with AXU and have considered MMG, but really want to ride the “Golden Runway” into production with Alexco first.

        Cheers!

I know the KEYS from US Navy days . they are a VERY FRAGILE eco system and really only a few people should be allowed to live there. USA and FL gov. should BUY OUT the residents and make them move to northern FL or interior Alabama or GA. I know this would require a constutional amendment to do. bestof health and wealth to you all. Scott
