Welcome!

Looking Ahead to a Very Busy Political and Central Bank Week

Cory
October 30, 2017

Chris Temple joins me to help  wrap up the markets today. It was again a relatively slow day for the markets but this week we have some potential drivers. We have three central bank meetings (ECB, BoJ, and the Fed), we also should get a Fed Chairman nominee, and potential further movement on tax reform. Will these moves markets?

    Mr. Chris or anyone,

What do you think are the odds that the Republowclowns get rid of the SALT deductions? It looks like they will allow property tax and mortgage interest but get rid of state income and sales tax deductions.

Also, Brady (Ways and Means Chairman) wants to cap 401k contributions at $2400. What do you think are the odds that goes through? Trump said no change to 401k but there’s no guarantee he won’t change his mind (like he did on the war in Afghanistan, etc.)

11 sessions have passed now that the JGB10YR has not transcended.07. I don’t know what to attribute this to,but I find it paradoxical.
With Brent exceeding the $60 mark, one cannot help but notice the spread between WTI and Brent has gone from approximately 2.50 in July to 6.75 presently.

@PamplonaTrader – “Pretty clear from this interview that $TK is anticipating interest from Peruvian #zinc producers like Nexa, Volcan, Minsur, Buenaventura etc.”

      Tinka Resources

For those that don’t know @PamplonaTrader over at ceo.ca, he is one of the sharpest stock pickers in the resource space that I’ve come across (just like our very own Matthew). While Pamps is a bit edgy, aggressive, and opinionated , I really do have a very high opinion of his skills in sizing up a resource estimation, vetting out good companies, looking for fatal flaws, positioning during deep value accumulation periods, and he’s pretty good with Technical Analysis as well. I don’t always agree with him, but when he posts something I always give it consideration and his track record is very impressive.

He is a fan and shareholder of (TK) Tinka Resources, and so am I. Some of his posts today regarding not just the Zinc resource but also the Tin resources that TK has really got me thinking, so I thought it may be helpful to post here for any of the Base Metals fans out there

        __________________________________________________________________________

@PamplonaTrader – “Minsur reprocessing tailings (b2 project) from their depleted San Rafael tin mine (3rd largest in the world). Life of mine another 8 years. Ayawilca would be perfect… mine the high grade zinc chimneys for the first 5 years before mining tin along with the lower grade zinc mantos. ”

        ________________________________________________________

@PamplonaTrader – “nothing really new. The CEO of Kallpa seems to discourage retail speculation, calling $TK a risky stock and noting that these high-risk plays should be no more than 5% of total allocation… but then later talks about how zinc producers may want to buy up shares of $TK. If you read between the lines, I think it confirms our thinking that the shares were listed on the BVL to attract a strategic investment… as opposed to tapping retail investors.”

        __________________________________________________________________

@PamplonaTrader – “No, I think a straight takeover. Grupo Breca (which also controls Peru’s largest tin producer, Minsur) consolidated control over Raura which at 2016 had a near identical zinc resource to Ayawilca. Grupo Breca/Minsur has to be very interested in the story here, especially as the tin angle emerges. I don’t think it was any coincidence Graham name-dropped the Breca family in the presentation @nicolaslepan attended.”

“On the eve of listing, Nexa Resources (TSX:NEXA, NYSE:NEXA), spun out of Brazil’s Votorantim conglomerate, lowered the price of its initial public offering to $16 per share from the previously expected range of $18–$21 per share.”

In the land of Copper – my view is that Cordoba is set to do an about face and surprise the hell out of the markets. I’ve been adding down here in the depths ahead of their ongoing exploration program. Here a few thoughts from other traders on this developing story (that Robert Friedland has come into through the back door with his private company HPX).

Here was their recent press release:

Cordoba Minerals Corp. provides company update
      (Marketwired – Oct. 26, 2017) (CDB)(CDBMF)

@tcu – “I re-read the news release today. No wonder the stock took off. These 5 holes should be amazing based on the release. Very excited to get those assays and the upcoming RE”

Sweetlove – “Investing in exploration and mining requires patience and determination. Today’s PR is interesting from a geological perspective and reaffirms cdb is on trak and following the plan to the PEA which is all good. This is a very promising project.”

@soulMiner – “What i liked about the release is there was no hype. I hope Mario and CDB keep it that way (No more VB Gold Assay BS). Just good communication, hard work and hopefully great drill results.”

@Fried – “ACD070 and 71 were successful at proving down dip continuation of the copper-gold mantos with wide intersections of abundant chalcopyrite mineralization. This is particularly impressive in hole ACD070 where the stratabound copper-gold mineralization is overprinted by a discordant metre-wide fault zone filled with semi-massive sulfides. ”

@clawbongo – “that was the first real pulse since the restructuring. The patient has perhaps awoken from its prolonged and severe comatose? ”

@Fried – “first results from the stepout and exploration drill program to come (intersected gold copper mineralization), Alacran is going to get bigger and bigger… $CDB”

        Oct 30, 2017 30:21 PM

@etals – “Similar to CDB-News (2017-10-26) -> (ACD070 and ACD071) were successful at proving downdip continuation of the copper-gold mantos with wide intersections of abundant chalcopyrite mineralization. This is particularly impressive in hole ACD070, where the stratabound copper-gold mineralization is overprinted by a discordant metre-wide fault zone filled with semi-massive sulphides. Predominance of arsenopyrite (plus minor pyrite and sphalerite)”

        @etals – “Image of !!!chalcopyrite-sphalerite-carbonate-coarse gold vein!!! in hole ACD036 (4,440 g/t gold over 0.90 metres)”

Sweetlove – “Investing in exploration and mining requires patience and determination………….sounds like a stock worth pursuing …….. 🙂

          Oct 30, 2017 30:42 PM

(CDB) Cordoba got absolutely smashed since their credit restructuring and the deal with HPX (a private exploration company that Robert Friedland is involved with).

I was impressed with their previous exploration work, and have watched with fascination as the shares just dove down……. Now I believe their exploration work has captivated the marketplace once more, and over the next year Cordoba has some room to run to be a multi-bagger.

DYODD of course, but I’ve been scooping up some shares because they seem to be on to something here. Copper/Gold should do OK in 2018/2019, and a hot new exploration story seems to be what the resources investors are focused on at present.

I do wonder whether we might get a sudden Chinese devaluation of the Yuan re the economic figures out of China in recent days.

The Christmas export market is very important for China and a Yuan devaluation now could give China a boost at this key time of the year.
