There are a larger pool of investors following the Gold exploration stocks for sure, but I wouldn’t rule out the explosive moves we’ve seen in some of the Silver Explorers like Silvercrest, Dolly Varden Silver, Defiance Silver, Orex Minerals, Bitterroot, Klondike Silver, Metallic Minerals, Silver Bull, Bunker Hill, Southern Silver, etc…. Heck I’m even hoping one day that AbraPlata Resource Corp will get a bid, or the ones further down the food chain like Santana, Silver Spruce, or Golden Goliath will one day get a bid.

I haven’t given up completely on BBB Brixton Metals yet either for a Silver Explorer, with Gold and Cobalt, and a pipeline of 4 different properties where they can hit paydirt.

Bob M. mentioned waiting for the DSI reading to be around 10-20, and a drop to such lows in the miners would generate a negative sentiment pretty quickly.

That may be the catalyst to get value investors to put a toe in the water once again…

I have a hard time being as bearish as Kern right here but SKI does have an impressive record. Still, my default setting is my own approach, for better and for worse. Sentiment in the miners is very bearish already and the significantly lower targets are too obvious to too many – which makes it more difficult to hit those targets.

SKI is based on USERX which means that it is based on 44 years years of info. That seems like plenty and, for the most part, is, but SKI still does throw off some “first time ever” patterns. I am not talking about “this time is different”, I am talking about the very real possibility that this time is different than those that are contained in the cycles of the last 44 years. Gold mining stock cycles did not start in 1974 with USERX and it is obvious to me that 2018’s doppelganger resides much further back. Remember that cycles are like Russian dolls – one is nestled within another. So USERX/SKI do not necessarily cover this period precisely enough (though SKI was as precise as it usually is with respect to the signals generated that have made Jeff so bearish. Even cycles that result from unrelated fundamental drivers have distinct similarities – so beware).

As for gold itself (not the miners), it is hardly appealing from a contrarian perspective but I could see it continue to hold up and avoid giving the sentiment readings that Bob mentioned for awhile longer. In fact, it could go significantly higher before finally topping and plunging to a low risk/great buy sentiment level.

Most experts are in bearish agreement with Jeff/SKI and experts sway a lot of people. So if they are wrong, we will see a large move that only a tiny few will enjoy.

In addition to all that, USERX, GDX, GLD and gold all have very bullish P&F price objectives right now while the junior miners (ETFs) and silver do not.This makes sense since quality bargains often catch a bid before the more speculative ones do.

A strong move up to finish the month would help the monthly charts and the daily charts are friendly to that possibility. Here’s USERX:

If the “experts” and herd ends up being wrong on this washout in Gold and the miners, then I agree that “we will see a large move that only a tiny few will enjoy.”

Personally, I still believe we are in the bull market that started in 2016 and that until something drastically changes and the metals put in all time lows, then there is nothing on the horizon to cause me to doubt this thesis.

Most of my mining positions are at a very good cost basis since the core positions were purchased in late 2015 – early 2016, and I’ve traded around those positions since then. As a result, waiting out any current weakness with most of them is the strategy I’m using, as I still believe the “surprises” will be more to the upside in a bull market, than the expect downside by most market participants. I may do a bit of hedging or trimming, but most of my positions I’m just leaving in place.

I’ve also used the summer though the end of the 2017 to pick up a number of new positions in Jr Miners that I’d been watching for some time. Even recently there were a few new positions I’ve started accumulating, because a number of stocks are just really beaten up here.

If we get a nice rout in the mining shares, then it would be a good place to add to companies that investors really liked at higher price valuations. There will be no room for whining if the metals take off in late 2018 and 2019 that investors wished they had bought when prices where lower, if they ignore the low prices when they show up.

There’s not much “if” to this, only when. Will the buck surprise the dollar bugs now or a little later? Either way, they’re in for action that they do not expect.

“faux-Left attack zombies” is uncharitable of me, I suppose.

Many of these people are decent and well-meaning. But they have been ‘triggered’ by issues the groundwork for which has been being laid for decades, by creating a false reality the completeness of which the Truman Show can only suggest, through schooling and mass media. My personal experience suggests that it is very difficult to break through their ideological shell with facts or logic.

Maybe I notice it more because I live outside the country, but from my standpoint, it looks like the US is losing its marbles at a rapid pace. How many people notice, though, or care enough to speak out? It’s a covert, insidious war of subversion, and the frog is just about boiled. Yuri Bezmenov nailed it.

For instance, once upon a time we were taught that we should be tolerant of homosexuals. And we went along with that, because most of us believe that people ought to be able to live in tranquility as long as they don’t harm others. Then it was marriage. Then adoption. And putting materials in the classroom to teach small children that homosexuality is normal–IS it? Now transgenderism, teaching small children that gender is some sort of abstract cultural construct, and firing a google engineer for disagreeing with this sacred belief. Next trans-humanism.

And…pedophilia? Interesting, for instance, that alarms haven’t gone off about the ever-younger age of puberty in girls due to the chemicals in our food supply. What kind of a country does not respond in a decisive way to something like this? In Bezmenov’s words, a demoralized one in which the process of subversion is advanced.

A side note, one memorable gambit in this campaign for radical cultural change that morphed from tolerance of gays into the destruction of gender was the Matthew Shepard hoax, in which we we all were clobbered over the head with the perennial favorite tactic of collective guilt (‘homophobia’ this time). Except the story wasn’t true, and his attacker was apparently actually his gay lover / drug dealer.

We could talk about similar changing narratives regarding feminism or racism/multi-culturalism as well.

Whoever may ultimately be behind this covert cultural war, we know a lot about who is executing it, no matter how many people deny this fact, as many will.

FWIW, I think the American Right is just as problematic, particularly in their subservience to the same interests Trump is serving.

Anyway, the rot is advanced and advancing and we all seem to agree that most people are still asleep at the switch. And no wonder–the deviousness and sheer evil of what is being done is stranger than fiction. But I’m a hopeful sort of guy, so I continue to like to think there is a real chance that a critical mass will wake up in time to prevent worst case scenarios.
