Big Al would like your opinions on the appointment of John Bolton

President Donald Trump has just ousted his national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, and replaced him with former George W. Bush administration official John Bolton.

People who’ve been intently watching the comings and goings of people from the White House might have expected the change. But it would have come as a shock to 2013-era Donald Trump.

Bolton stood out for his hawkishness even in the hawkish Bush administration. He was a leading cheerleader for the war in Iraq. And he spent his post-White House career arguing for more military intervention, specifically in Iran (over its nuclear weapons program) and to calm the civil war in Syria.

Trump, on the other hand, used to be a pretty staunch opponent of military adventurism in general and the war in Iraq in particular. (He claimed on the campaign trail that he had opposed the war before it started; that doesn’t appear to be the case, but he was certainly criticizing it as early as 2004.)

He tweeted, over and over again, that “we should never have gone into Iraq” (though, he often added, after going in America should have at least “taken the oil”). And on at least one occasion, in 2013, he declared that “all former Bush administration officials should have zero standing” on the foreign policy question of the time:

All former Bush administration officials should have zero standing on Syria. Iraq was a waste of blood & treasure.

Now, a former Bush administration official will be the president’s top policymaker on national security. He will have all sorts of standing on Syria, as well as Iran, North Korea, and any other place you care to name.

According to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Bolton “promised Trump ‘he wouldn’t start any wars’” on the job. But as Trump himself knows very well, just because you say — or tweet — something doesn’t necessarily mean you have to stand by it.

Roger Stone speaks highly of Bolton. For now, that is more than enough for me.

Bolton has been in the swamp for a while now. That said, not ever guppy in the swamp wants to swim with the snakes. Some folks get dragged in, and Trump is their way out.

I was just told that Trump snookered congress with the omnibus bill. The bill is not a budget. He can use the funds of the omnibus bill at will. If it were a budget, he would have to adhere to the spending as congress voted. Now, he can slow walk or fast walk what he wants😉

    I normally believe in recycling.

Mr. Bolton, however, I believe is best put in the trashcan of history.

Trump, being from the REAL WORLD of wanting to hire the best people for the job has got to be APPALLED at the incompetency of entrenched bureaucrats. I lay the problem squarely on Trump trying to find somebody – ANYBODY who can excel at what they do.

Bolton is a bit of a hawk for me, but I don’t know anyone that is as frank and honest as he is. I think for Trump that will go a long way….

John Bolton is a beta Talmudic satanic Zionist. All he cares about is Israel Satan and the 1846 mustache.

      Mar 24, 2018 24:26 PM

Time will tell Johnny. The fact that he is a serious hawk is concerningto me.

      Bolton, Chicken Hawk.

        Mar 24, 2018 24:06 PM

Right on GH. Most of that crowd who helped Bush II make the mistake of the century were chicken hawks. Bolton managed like Chaney to avoid any military service. Those college deferments worked wonders for thousands. I actually appreciated those who went to Canada in protest of the war more than those who took the deferments during Vietnam.

Well, CFS, that opinion is pretty obvious.

Pretty strong negative opinion on Mr. Bolton, GH.

GH, from what I know, this guy scares me and I am not sure why Trump appointed him.

    Mar 24, 2018 24:04 AM

Bolton is quite insane. He couldn’t get confirmed as ambassador to the UN because of his rabid desire for war.

What it means is that Sheldon Adelson has literally bought the office of the President of the US for a tiny $30 million. There will be war and just as with every other war since WW II, the US will be worse off at the end.

It means Israel and the Zionists own the US political system.

    Mar 24, 2018 24:43 AM

Drain the swamp my ass. Anyone above the age of 15 should have enough sense to never believe anything any politician says. I stand with Murray Rothbard – politics attracks the worst members of society and their vices are accentuated during their “service”.

Sheldon Adelson picked Bolton. This amounts to treason on the part of Adelson, Bolton and Trump. Adelson and Bolton represent Israel against the interests of the US and that is treason.

Rather than cnfusion AJ, I would use the term, in this case, “lack of knowledge”

I can’t stand the liberals, they are wrong on just about everything. Hillary Clinton was literally running a crime family assisted by the CIA, FBI, DOJ and head of national security. Those people all disgust me. Trump has his head totally up his butt but he’s better than Clinton and gang.

Bolton doesn’t just scare me. He terrifies me.

    He’s shit house rat crazy.

He wants to use nukes on Iran to prevent them from having a nuclear program that doesn’t exist.

If one of those bastards making the decisions, pulling the strings, had ever spent a day in combat, they wouldn’t be so eager to donate the blood of our American kids.

      Mar 24, 2018 24:11 PM

Well said Bob but it’s always the case that those in charge aren’t doing the fightin’.

William Engdahl always argued that the reason for Trump’s election was to put the US on a war footing.

“I state clearly my conviction, and please recall this as Trump Presidency policies unfold after January 20, 2017 to see if I am correct or not: Donald Trump was put into office to prepare America for war, a war the banks of Wall Street and the US military industrial complex are not presently in a position economically or industrially or otherwise, geopolitically, to win. His job will be to reposition the United States for them to reverse the trend to disintegration of American global hegemony, to, as the Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz Project for the New American Century put it in their September, 2000 report, “rebuild America’s defenses.” ”

        Mar 25, 2018 25:32 AM

        GH:

While Engdahl was perfectly correct, Hillary Clinton would have taken us to war twice as quickly. I don’t like Trump but HC was far worse. As will be the CMIC should their coup be successful. Israel now owns the US entirely.

Found this on another web page but it’s apropos anywhere:

We are at a Permanent High Trumpian Plateau

    1. America’s elite billionaire caste is committed to middle class prosperity
    2. America’s collective intellect is at high level and white hot
    3. there are no negatives that could impact economic growth
    4. our national upside is unlimited
    5. Trump’s chaos has now reached its productive stage
    6. impending war invigorates the populace
    7. the Mars colony and moonbase will stimulate innovation
    8. food and sex bingeing is a sign of consumerist joy
    9. the 2001 Space black monolith has appeared on the White House lawn
    10. Mike Pence prances in Christo-comical ecstasy

BEING correct , and being the right person for the job, are not the same thing . I agree with many things Bolton says . BUT he is somewhat of a bomb thrower verbally . Pray for Peace . S
