Did Trump actually pay for rooms in his hotel?
    Where’s the proof?

Last I heard Trump’s salary was $1, and he has given up millions of dollars of earning.

      Jul 19, 2018 19:10 PM

That seems to be irrelevant to the writer, CFS

    Jul 19, 2018 19:32 PM

By the way does Trump own the hotel or is it actually owned by shareholders in a company?

      Jul 19, 2018 19:11 PM

Can’t answer that, but I’ll bet that you can!

I am highly suspicious immunity will be used to shield Podesta brothers and key democrat villains.

It is all legal, CFS. Ain’t life grand? By the way it currently is again for me. I,by the way, appreciate communicating with you on our Forum. Thank you, sir!

As a form of rebuttal to the proposition that Trump golfed at the expense of the country…..
(not that he wouldn’t be entitled to do so)
I remember reading a report last Christmas, which illustrates the character of the President:

Thanks Matthew, I find that to be fascinating. Definitely worth looking into and considering all of the circumstances.

You do have to understand the philosophy of the Mises Institutes however.

        Jul 20, 2018 20:57 AM

Al, I believe I do understand the philosophy of the Mises Institute, and, generally speaking, I agree with it.

      Thanks AJ.

I have to add that “the horses are not back in the bard quite yet”

This particular issue is very interesting to me because of the polorization it is causing even among our “family”

All I can say is that I respect your particular opinion because I believe it is based on more than simply emotion. Thank you

I realize that Trump did not rule that out and that response pissed a lot of Americans off. I would simply like to know all the circumstances surrounding Trump’s answer.

You know AJ, I am definitely not saying that your implication is wrong, I am simply saying that this issue is so complicated that you almost have to be in the room when the question is asked and the response is given.

My stance currently is that the horses are definitely not back in the barn yet.

Are you incorrect in your feelings? Hell, I really don’t know. I do know that for the sake of the country that I love I hope you are, but time will tell.

AJ points out, correctly, that President Trump has been inconsistent on his positions and is clearly NOT driven by a political ideology.
That was a primary reason why I expressed concerns a couple of years ago, as I remembered he had positioned himself as a New York Democrat liberal. I did not want him to become President with the views of a New York Democrat liberal, because I firmly believed those views incompatible with making America great again.
As President, however, he has not behaved like a democrat liberal, thank God.
So far, I cannot fault his important policies and what he has actually done and achieved.
He has actually for the most part kept his campaign promises.
Those not kept, e.g. the border wall, have not been kept because of obstruction by Democrats in Congress.
Many promises, of course, are not yet completely fulfilled.
The North Korean problem is still being worked on and may continue to be a work in progress for many years, but at least progress is being made.
The Russian situation really is improved, in my opinion. It is always better to talk and negotiate. The ONLY Russian collusion that occurred, in my opinion, was the traitorous behavior of the criminal Hillary Rodham Clinton, who, inter alia, illegally accepted $400,000,000 from a British national as a campaign contribution. (According to Putin, if you bother to read the transcript of the Helsinki meeting, that money came from Russia with the aid of U.S. intelligence officers, evading taxation,)
    ISIS has substantially been eliminated.
We wait to see what will be the result of tariffs and trade negotiations. We have a long way yet to go.
The Military Industrial Complex, with its lobbyists bribing congress-critters, is resisting Trump as far as possible, but al least Trump, so far, is not simply unnecessarily feeding this parasite as did the last four Presidents.
I see Trump as preparing to drain the swamp.

      Jul 19, 2018 19:36 PM

You can’t get swampier than Kavanaugh.

        Jul 20, 2018 20:04 AM

        Agan Mathew,

I have to remind you of the philosophy of the Mises Institute.

          Jul 20, 2018 20:09 AM

Al, facts alone make him a swamp thing to any decent person.

            Jul 20, 2018 20:38 AM

            Matthew,

If I am wrong in my hopes, I will send you a fifth of my favorite Bourbon as an apology. Promise!

            Jul 20, 2018 20:43 AM

Al, no need need to apologize if a miracle doesn’t materialize! 🙂

      Jul 20, 2018 20:03 AM

Of course he is preparing to drain the swamp.

Professor, our opinion I am afraid make us very unpopular within our family. At least with the exception of “Franky” we are all staying on track and we continue being open minded to learn from each other. Thank God.

Matthew, Cavanaugh has, hitherto, mostly supported the Constitution as constructionist, not a liberal living Constitution-type.

      Jul 20, 2018 20:12 AM

That’s absurd, CFS. Do you think the Patriot Act is constitutional?

        Jul 20, 2018 20:06 AM

To keep some peace “in the household” I have to remind you that he said ”
        mostly”

          Jul 20, 2018 20:18 AM

          Two points, Al:
          -“mostly” isn’t good enough, and
          -“mostly” is highly questionable.

      Jul 20, 2018 20:05 AM

Mostly supported, I like that description.

    CFS
    Jul 20, 2018 20:15 AM

I don’t know if you looked at the resignation data I posted a week or so ago of approx 4,000 resignations/retirements which included the biggest ever number of congress-critters not standing for re-election? But it is significant swamp-draining. I know I would like to see a lot in jail, but there are limitations and the main problem is the liberal judiciary.
Do I think the Patriot Act constitutional? No, there are elements therein, which, in my opinion, go beyond the Constitutional limit, as I indicated at the time of its passage. I also believe assassination by drone highly un-constitutional and against the Geneva Convention.

      It is a crime?

I guess maybe if she is a black-mailing prostitute, one can find a crime in there somewhere. Trump has some moral failings, alas. But at leasty he’s not a traitor to the U.S. Or a charity foundation tax-evading fraud.
