More Trump Tweets To Consider

Cory
July 20, 2018

This morning, on the back of his interview with CNBC last night night, President Trump tweeted about more tariffs on Chinese goods, currency manipulation and even the rate hikes by the Fed. Chris Temple and I discuss all of these points as well as how the markets are reacting.

    Why not wait for results?
Trump’s negotiations will not be an instant solution.

Matthew, The BTI went up so fast I decided to wait for a pullback, but I did buy a nice chunk of PSLV@5.62 today. That should double or triple a lot faster than VZ.

      That’s quite a gap!

      Your PSLV purchase looks excellent:

Looks like the tobaccos had a one day reversal yesterday. But will they do as well as PSLV over the next few years? What do you think?

I do not think they will do as well as PSLV over the next few years but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trade them as well.

          BTI priced in PSLV:

Yes, you are right. And my portfolio is way too heavy in oil, gold, silver, and mining shares, so it would not hurt to add some fat dividend paying tobaccos.

Facebook Suspends Boston Analytics Firm Over Data Usage
Associated Press – 28 minutes ago
NEW YORK (AP) — Facebook says it has suspended Boston-based analytics firm Crimson Hexagon while it investigates how it collects and shares Facebook and Instagram’s user data.
Facebook has been facing increased scrutiny over how third-party firms use its data since news broke in March that data firm Cambridge Analytica improperly accessed user data.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that Facebook had suspended Crimson Hexagon. The newspaper says among the firm’s clients is a Russian nonprofit with ties to the Kremlin.
Facebook said Friday that so far its investigation hasn’t found evidence that Crimson Hexagon obtained Facebook or Instagram information inappropriately.
Crimson Hexagon says on its website it has access to over one trillion consumer conversations from social media, forums, blogs and reviews. It did not respond to a request for comment.

    CFS Comment:
The REAL PROBLEM OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is not robots and the like, but in the ability to process and analyze data.
It will give the government the power to know everything about everyone.

It already gives merchandisers the power to know your desires and purchasing records, and thus target ads specifically at you. That is just the start.
Because computing power and storage is becoming so cheap, there will be no privacy for anyone in future.

and if you think Governments will not abuse the power of AI and control people, think again.

Just ask one of the 10,000 Chinese already excluded from being able to use railways or being able to fly, because they have or might become political dissidents.

Through face recognition, governments will track everyone and know everything they do, notwithstanding the Constitutional protections. Of course the thin end of the wedge will be an introduction “to aid in tracking of terrorists”, but do you think it will stop there? Do you think politicians will not want the power to control?

Sourced elsewhere, but I did not wish to give them clicks…

Roseanne Barr issued a bizarre video statement on Friday morning declaring (at a high decibels) that she thought Valerie Jarrett, the subject of a tweet that got her fired from her hit ABC show, was white.

Barr followed up with a more coherent statement video Friday afternoon, in which she explained the behind the scenes of her firing from Roseanne.

She started the statement out with Trumpian flair: “Hi, this is Roseanne Barr and I’d like to welcome you to my own studio, where I’m able to speak for myself to my fellow and sister Americans without the filter of the biased media.”

“This was my statement from the very beginning, and it will continue to be forever because it is the truth,” she continued. “When ABC called and asked me to explain my ‘egregious and unforgivable tweet,’ I told them I thought Valerie Jarrett was white. And I also said I am willing to go on The View, Jimmy Kimmel, or whatever other show you want me to go on and explain that to my audience.”

“Now, instead what happened was about 40 minutes after that my show was canceled before even one advertiser pulled out and I was labeled a racist,” she explained. Why, you ask? Well, the answer is simple. It’s because I voted for Donald Trump and that is not allowed in Hollywood.”

That’s an example of control by MSM.

Now think about what could happen with that power given to government.
