What we are really seeing is the end of a segment of American economic history. We are seeing a major change in the economies of the wealthiest countries. Different industries based on Artificial Intelligence are in charge and humans can’t adapt fast enough to the challenges we face from a technological revolution. In fact most of our leaders don’t understand how AI is writing an end to this history. Socialism is not something I approve of or endorse but we will find it necessary to feed a population that can’t find meaningful work. Industry is changing so rapidly that by the time a new assembly line for cars is built it is already obsolete. Even war these days is turning away from physical conflict to cyberwarfare. Our species is endangered and most don’t see it or even have the comprehension to realize that life is much more than clutching a cell phone. Even if they were aware of the changes they are powerless to stop evolution. DT

Mr. Tracy, you are making some very astute observations. The changes that some of us are witnessing are very difficult for a 75 year old man like myself to comprehend. I honestly feel lost in some of the environments, like high tech, that I find myself in. I cannot tell you how frustrating that universe can be! It is especially tough for me when my daughters and son in law imply that since I am so far behind I must not be very intelligent. It is especially frustrating when I worked my tail off to pay for all of their educations to the point where they would have no debt when they graduated. It’s funny Mr. Tracy, but if I had to do that again I would not even know were to start. Younger people today are making so much more money than I ever dreamed of are in a world that I can’t even understand. Million dollar houses and all!

Thanks for this input as my reply was a great way for me to start my day sitting here at the dialysis center. It helped me to get centered, thank you sir!

Despite the radical left’s dishonest portrayal of a desire to maintain cultural integrity as ‘hate’, it’s no such thing. They’re the ones motivated by hatred and racism, manipulated by those they believe they oppose.

I don’t know what white people are thinking. Probably they just don’t know the numbers. But if they value the traditional American heritage and values, and the Constitution, they better wake up fast. There is zero reason to believe that a hodge-podge nation of cultures from around the globe, managed by a small minority hostile to traditional American values, can maintain the gains that it took centuries to win in England, ultimately culminating in the Constitution.

There is nothing hateful about not wanting our country to be transformed into an inversion of our founding ideals, which is what the demographic warfare of massive immigration represents. Not so much on the side of the immigrants themselves as those who instigated this situation, which is acknowledged even by various Jewish authorities to be of Jewish origin. The thinking being that in a multi-cultural society, they don’t stand out (and, frankly, can deflect racial tensions away from themselves–many quotes from Jewish sources confirm awareness of this advantage, with regard to blacks, as documented by the Nation of Islam).

If these commentaries are accurate, Trump’s betrayal would seem to be devastating, unless people rise up and force a repeal. It’s committing America to strife, and white America to rapid decline, which almost certainly means the end of the ‘American Dream’ in the best sense of the term.

Some like b like to say there was never anything great about America. I disagree, though I’m very aware of the heinous side of its history. What is great about America, and Western Civilization?

      Two points of view:

      John Taylor Gatto:

“To find out what School seeks to replace, we have to uncover the four pillars which hold up Western society. Two come from the Nordic rim of Europe: the first, a unique belief in the sovereign rights of the individual; the second, what we have come to call scientific vision. Everywhere else but in the West, individual and family were submerged in one or another collective system. Only here were the chips bet on liberty of individual conscience.

The ambition to know everything appears in history in the stories of the Old Norse god Odin, god of Mind and god of Family Destruction, too. No other mythology than the Norse puts pride of intellect together with a license to pry so at the center of things. Science presumes absolute license. Nothing can be forbidden. Science and individualism are the two secular foundations of Western outlook.

Our other two supports for social meaning are religious and moral. Both originate in the south of Europe. From this graft of North and South comes the most important intellectual synthesis so far seen on this planet, Western civilization. One of these Mediterranean legs is a specific moral code coming out of the Decalogue, of Judaism working through the Gospels of Christianity. The rules are these:

      1. Love, care for, and help others.
      2. Bear witness to the good.
      3. Respect your parents and ancestors.
      4. Respect the mysteries; know your place in them.
      5. Don’t envy.
      6. Don’t lie or bear false witness.
      7. Don’t steal.
      8. Don’t kill.
      9. Don’t betray your mate.

The fourth and most difficult leg comes from a Christian interpretation of Genesis. It is constituted out of a willing acceptance of certain penalties incurred by eating from the Tree of Knowledge against God’s command. The Original Sin. For disobedience, Adam, Eve, and their descendants were sentenced to four punishments.

The first was labor…The second penalty was pain…Third was the two-edged free will penalty…Last and most important, the term of human life would be strictly limited.”

      Carroll Quigley:

“the distinctive character of Western Civilization rests on its Christian heritage, its scientific outlook, its humanitarian elements, and its distinctive point of view in regard to the rights of the individual and respect for women”

Sure, it’s easy to poke holes in these statements, especially concerning all our warfare…but who really caused these wars? A small crowd that basically amounts to a mafia, including Finance, Propaganda (mass media), the Weapons industry, and Zionists. E.g., Americans didn’t want WW1 or WW2. Korea they were bamboozled , Vietnam they resisted. It took a long time to break down that non-interventionist attitude of the general populace. But, as Smedley Butler explains, the military was at the beck and call of big business long before that general resistance broke down. Or so it appears to me.

Anyone who doesn’t think there is a lot that is good about American or Western Civ culture, go spend a few years living in a developing country, and see how you feel then.

I guess we could call indoor plumbing great.

I’ve never said there are not wonderful things about the west, but “great”? wars make not one great.

Slavery begins in early 1600s, independence 1783, genocide and war after endless war.
        And wars dont make great.

Computers are good tho. But great doesnt come from a nation that breaks its word endlessly.

Advantages compared to other places, sure, but its not “great”.

        Tibet maybe.

          Feb 24, 2019 24:36 PM

Slavery, genocide and war are salient features in WORLD history. If we look at the things that make the West different, rather than the same as the rest, there’s plenty of greatness.

          Matthew makes the key point.

I would add that it’s not indoor plumming and computers, or any other material thing, that set the US apart from the developing countries I know.

          It’s attitudes.

Not attitudes of the ruling class, but everyday attitudes that govern your interactions with those around you. Not something you can really understand unless you’ve lived it.

The Bill of Rights is nice too, at least to our way of thinking.

All sounds like an “Atlas shrugged” moment.

Jeff Deist chooses his wording very carefully. He even got Al buying into Trump being like Nancy Palosi. Nothing could be further from the truth and Jeff knows it. He just wants his peanut gallery to believe his controlled opposition bs.

Maybe that’s why the Mises Institute is tax-exempt?
I bet the revenue matches the expenses real close.

    Jeff,
What are you going to do when Trump balances the national deficit? Which then paves the way for the whole globe going to the gold standard. (Triffin Dilemma). You guys in the controlled opposition camp are getting exposed.

You talk a good Austrian economics game, but Trump is walking the walk! He’s a one-man daily educational course of Austrian economics and civics.

      Feb 24, 2019 24:11 AM

What are you going to do when Trump balances the national deficit?

That’s hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. It’s been a tough week and I sure needed it.

      Feb 24, 2019 24:39 PM

Trump is walking the walk?! You’re astoundingly clueless, Chartster.

        Feb 24, 2019 24:01 PM

And you, have painted your self into a corner. 🍻 Cheers

      INTERESTING>>>>>>
The Triffin dilemma or Triffin paradox is the conflict of economic interests that arises between short-term domestic and long-term international objectives for countries whose currencies serve as global reserve currencies. This dilemma was identified in the 1960s by Belgian-American economist Robert Triffin,[1] who pointed out that the country whose currency, being the global reserve currency, foreign nations wish to hold, must be willing to supply the world with an extra supply of its currency to fulfill world demand for these foreign exchange reserves, thus leading to a trade deficit.

    Feb 24, 2019 24:54 AM

    Ebolan,
He’s only about 250B and a couple LNG contracts away from balancing the trade deficit. It’s really not that far away. The tariffs are working.

      Feb 25, 2019 25:42 AM

Interesting again………I need to play catch up on this one……..

        Feb 25, 2019 25:06 AM

        OOTB,
Yes, there is a lot going on that people aren’t aware of. I’d be happy to explain to you on the phone sometime. Too much background to write in public.

Good on ya with the research!

CHARTSTER>>>>>>Thanks for the follow up………always appreciate the bits and pieces……
