No – I understand the point but where would it get you. Surely the Arawaks, the original inhabitants of Jamaica, would have a greater claim if they still existed. But that claim would be against Spain not England seeing Spain ‘owned’ the islands between1494 and 1655 before the English took over. This is definitely a cause that someone or some organization should take up, Excelsior.
Big Al – One would think all fortunate Americans wailing on and on again about slavery from 150 years ago would be more interested in confronting and dealing with the slavery that currently exists all over the world.
Then again, they wouldn’t get victim points or reparations for doing something about an actual problem of slavery as it exists today. It also takes some of the wind out of their SJW sails if they have to look at the people who actually are affected by slavery today. Doesn’t fit their narrative….
Yes, it would seem that true interest in the subject would result if serious actions towards current situations.

One of the most egregious hate hoaxes in my memory:
Turns out Shepard was murdered by his meth dealing sometime sex partner, not a couple of odious rednecks.

Obviously the Matthew Shepard hate hoax is an attack on conservative, rural, white America.

It isn’t like the Drudge Report or Zero Hedge are unblemished as they have tons of fake news all the time.
Everyone should be very wary of all sources, and facts, statistics, and any language that has adjectives describing any person, place, thing, or event.
We all have to decide how far we want to go in each rabbit hole, how much fact checking we want to engage in, and try not to jump to rash biased conclusions and keep our minds open.

There are so many reasons reparations are a bad idea.

My brother in law was a mining engineer in South Africa, he owned a huge palatial home in a gated community with servants. I think the place to star is local.
For instance, county and city goooberments across the nations are raising all sorts of taxes, especially sales taxes, also property taxes through bond measures.
It’s happening all over and the main reason is the unfunded pension liability.
What the local politicians do is hire high-priced consultants with taxpayer dollars and these consultants use the taxpayer’s money to sell them tax increases through propaganda.
It should be illegal and where it is local DAs refuse to enforce the law. What DA would fight a tax increase when his raises and pension depends on it?
Anyway, I am trying to get people in my area fired up about it as the politicians are going to place at least one tax increase and probably two on the ballot next year.
I wrote a scathing letter which the local paper published but overall I am finding the public completely clueless and those who do have an idea of what is going on are apathetic.
Fight where you feel comfortable in making a difference, …..any and all opposition is ok, by me.
I think it is next to impossible to have any impact at the national or international level. Even the state level is nearly impossible unless you live in a very small state.
But even the local level is extremely difficult. I know a couple of people who defeated local tax increases but it took a lot of time, work and an investment of personal funds, but overall, these people have lost more often then they have won trying to defeat or limit local tax increases.
And now with local governments using tax dollars to fund consultants and propaganda campaigns it is even harder. How are you supposed to fight your own money?
Educating the public and then getting them to vote these tax increases down or vote out city council members and county supervisors who raise taxes is very hard.
Most people don’t even know their taxes have been raised until they pay the bill.
The ones who do know what’s coming don’t want to do anything other then complain.
So with all that, it is extremely difficult to roll back goooberment at the local level.
That old saying, “You can’t fight city hall” has a lot of truth to it.
Taxes especially, real estate , as I have said before, is the big target……If, so, make a small target for them to rape and pillage …because they are going to do it as long as they think they can………no state is immune, no county is immune, no state either,…..They all want the benefits to end up in their pockets…..Pelosi is the prime example….these people come from political class, and keep breeding each other..THEY CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH>
