It’s nice to see that Mr. Temple is moderating his position to not be flat out opposed to tariffs. I see tariffs as the best way to achieve leverage against intellectual property theft.
I had been thinking that China’s reduction in Agricultural product purchases would be taken up by the rest of the world, but I am seeing a lot of hatred of GMO products in Europe which seems to contradict any taking up of slack by Europe. There seems to be a policy of buy from anywhere but the U.S.A. over there. (I find that somewhat bizarre, considering the lack of quality control in third world agriculture.)
Frankly that is true, even comparing industrial products from China. Do you trust even Chinese steel to have the same quality as U.S. steel?

Contrary to Mr. Temple’s belief about the 2016, I feel a primary reason why Trump won was very simply a feeling at that time that the general public was sick to death of political corruption, and ANY person who was a “politician” was not electable.
Neither Biden nor Sanders could have won that election.

The Democrats have a problem with far-left nominees, which is why Biden lept to the top of the poles.
Biden, however, if he runs, has a serious problem, in that Biden seems to have NO GUIDING PRINCIPLES. He is clearly not making speeches at the moment, bewcause he is still trying to figure out what to state his beliefs are……i.e. what would be best to get him elected.

        May 18, 2019 18:40 AM

Your comment about Democrats having a problem with far left nominees is more clearly stated as the average American has a big problem with the Far Left and this is clearly why Biden’s popularity has surged. I focus on the situation in Ukraine because because I think this will prove to be a huge negative for Uncle Joe.

Back in about 40 minutes a it is off to Dialyis.

        May 18, 2019 18:50 AM

Biden not far left. He is right wing oligarchy. He and Obama continued Cheney’s policies of neutralizing Regulators and the Justice Dept, filled their Administration with Goldman Sachs and never criminally went after Wall Street. Trump has continued that trend further weakening the Constitutional government and pursuing a Fascist State. Biden will continue the policies of the far right.

          May 18, 2019 18:50 AM

that is an interesting opinion,David. I think that there are bits of truth in it. He would have to convince the electorate that this was the case and if he could do that I think that the unthinking “Trump Haters” would come out to the polls and elect him. I really don’t see that happening because he is, after all and he is not in the same category at all of JFK.

          May 18, 2019 18:30 PM

You’re right about your characterizations of Biden and Obama but I disagree with you/the official definition of fascism. In principle, fascism is no different than communism. Both feature an almighty government that has no respect for the individual/individual rights. Of course, both run on force and theft, not cooperation. They differ only in degree which makes fascism the lesser of the two evils.

I don’t believe it is an accident that fascism is defined as right-wing since the puppet masters can’t have the masses adopting the views of the real right. The right has always been smeared for this reason.

It is much better, more consistent to think about left and right in terms of individualism and collectivism. This approach puts the free-market anarcho-capitalists furthest right while communist/total government totalitarians would be furthest left. So fascism is to right of communism but not by much while “constitutionalist” limited government types like Ron Paul are just to the left of the anarcho-capitalist.
For the record, there’s no such thing as an anarcho-communist. You can’t have zero government and total government at the same time. It’s a BS term for confused people.

In short, collectivism is leftism and leftism is sinister.

r I think that there is a huge difference between Joe and Barak. Watching the former president and reading his books, I am convinced that he and his wife are idealists and truly believe in a government that is different from the one that we have in place. I think that they both have been very jaded by the Al Sharptons of the world. These are folks who believe that the black man/woman of the world have been beaten down by the white man/woman. To an extent they have been, but the more intelligent of that group have risen way above any repression (As have the Obama’s ) Because there is such a divergence within that particular segment of the population a problem does exist for some who would rather complain than rise above it through hard work. Unfortunately getting results from hard work is not accomplished quickly. I can name many members of that population who have risen above any repression. And, I would bet that most of you could also.
The easy thing for most of these folk to do is to riot and demonstrate as the Sharpton’s of the world direct them.
Unfortunately many bright members of the white race support these folks because they feel it is the right thing to do because it makes them feel better about themselves.
I believe that one of the most ridiculous movements that I have ever seen is the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Well, of course Black Lives and every other life does matter. What about the life that is aborted with approval of the “Pro Choice” Movement. It must not be obvious enough because a murdered fetus is something that few have ever seen.
It is now 3:45 and I have to take a shower and go to Mass at a church which is about an hour’s drive away. You have all inspired me to reply more often and in a lengthier fashion that I have done in the past. Tomorrow will be a great day for that and I plan to take advantage of the fact that I am now pretty house bound.

        May 19, 2019 19:49 AM

Thanks b, I read the article and found the description of Chinese agricultural methods to be definitely in the category of third world control surrounding third world agriculture interesting. I also found the action of the Russians offering the land for use to the Chinese to be interesting as it would appear, on the surface, to be an effective action by the Russians in taking a side in the current trade war going on between the Americans and the Chinese. This could escalate into an interesting situation.
Is it possible that the Chinese figured all along that the world could take their side in this issue. If in fact the world does take the Chinese side the implications for America could easily become disastrous. I always have said that the Chinese show incredible foresight in most of their actions. Any comments on this?

Russia has said they want to feed the world.
          Without using chemicals.
They are screaming for people to take their farmland, recently they offered the farmers from s.africa all the farmland they would need.
There are other generous offers in Russia for those that want to farm as well.

Interesting point about “a lot of hatred of GMO products in Europe” The first thought that came to mind after I read your comment for the second or third time was how will the huge amount of agricultural land made available to China by Russia in an effort to aid China in their current trade war with America play in Europe given the Chinese agricultural methods?

Biden is received as middle of the road. In my opinion, that perception exists because he no strong opinions. In fact, he appears to be bordering on senility. His biggest issue, which will be a problem, is corruption. He has known, identifiable, acceptance of over $10 million in bribes, and investigators have not started really digging yet.

      May 18, 2019 18:56 AM

Regarding corruption, you make a good point. Talk to me about corruption prior to the situation that we discussed in the Ukraine. I ask that you to do this because the Ukraine allegations were spun very effectively by the NYT to illustrate that all he did was to agree with the folks that thought that the prosecutor was a corrupt individual and had to go.

      May 18, 2019 18:06 AM

You can save me a lot of time if you can provide me with the information on $10 million in accepted bribes. I just spent almost an hour watching Biden’s participation in the CFR event. I purposely did not watch the short version. I found the entire program to be very interesting. I promise more on that later. Right now I have to pick up Kathy at Dialysis. Please help me out on verification of the acceptance of bribes. Thanks!

Because of the NO requirement of reporting donations made to children, much of Joe Biden’s bribes went to his son, Hunter Biden.

As written in The Epoch Times: “The Ukrainian prosecutor general promises to turn over investigative files to the U.S. Department of Justice, so Joe Biden’s Ukraine scandal could just be getting started.”

This could certainly be really bad for his future political efforts!

          May 19, 2019 19:12 AM

I found the article in the Washington Times to be interesting in that the writer indicated that he believed that Biden was guilty of receiving an unlawful bribe and then funneling the money to his son, Hunter. I will say that he also called for an extensive examination of this issue I BELIEVE THAT IF BIDEN IS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN HIS QUEST FOR THE PRESIDENCY, IT WOULD BE IN HIS BEST INTEREST TO MAKE SURE THAT HAPPENS.

Because of the deaths of three of his family members, perhaps he has gotten to the point where he has lost faith in much of life and now will do whatever it takes to simply get all of the money possible and leave it to whatever family he has left through Hunter. (Maybe a crazy thought, but certainly possible!)

          May 19, 2019 19:11 PM

Your comment of “NO requirement of reporting donations made to children” illustrates the difficulty of clearly answering my question.

    off topic:
    STUDENT LOANS
I have been thinking about the problem of student debt.
I do not have a solution for the immediate problem, however, for the long term, it is clear that tuition fees grew much faster than inflation simply because they could.
US Student loans are not limited, and are guaranteed for the banks.
The future solution should be simply to limit the amouint each student CAN BORROW.
e.g. $12,000 per year, with a $50,000 total cap, each growing pegged to the inflation rate.
Such a limitation would force universities to curb expansion of costs.
It might also tend to induce students to work part-time to supplement income.

      May 19, 2019 19:40 AM

Kind of interest comment on the total cap of $50K which your suggested. We actually paid, in total, for each of our girls that much for each year.

Being out of University life a few years, I did not realize how much costs had risen.

According to the College Board, the average cost of one year at a public university for an in-state student is $20,090. That increases to $34,220 if you hail from out of state. And in order to afford a college diploma, many American students rely on loans. Today, over 44 million Americans hold a total of $1.4 trillion in student debt.

So, perhaps, student loan limits of $20K per year and Total of $100,000 would be more appropriate.
Clearly something needs to be done, however.

While the Mueller probe has shown President Trump DID NOT COLLUDE with the Russians, it would be a serious mistake to ignore that the Russians tried to collude with him.
Sure the FBI and CIA tried to overturn the 2016 election and take away Trump’s control.
(The Democrats in Congress are still doing everything they can to oppose Trump, even if it hurts the USA.)
The Russians, however, are not innocent. Certainly Hillary Clinton, by way of the DNC, paid for the Steele Dossier, which produced the false stories that were designed to paralyse the trump administration, but Russian involvement is ALL OVER the scheme.
Because of recently released notes from an interview the State Department’s Kathleen Kavalec had with dossier author Christopher Steele, we now know of a connection between Halper and the Steele dossier, and that there were TWO RUSSIAN sources for the Dossier: Surkov and Trubkinov.
Surkov is Vladislav Surkov, an aide of Vladimir Putin who is on the U.S.’s list of sanctioned individuals, and Trubnikov is Vyacheslav Trubnikov, who is currently the First Deputy of Foreign Minister of Russia and previously served as the Director of Foreign Intelligence Service for Russia.
In May 2015, Trubnikov was teaching with Halper at his seminar in Cambridge on “current relations between the Russian Federation and the West.”
Note the red flag for the FBI/CIA is supposedly that Stefan Halper had cozied up to three Trump campaign advisers, Carter Page, Sam Clovis, and George Papadopoulos in an attempt to garner damning information from them. The FBI claims one of those men (Papadopoulos) was the reason they began investigating the Trump campaign in the first place, while they obtaining a FISA to spy on another (Page). (The FBI had in fact been spying on all Obama opponents (probably) since 2012, but the Mueller investigation could not have been instigated but for repeated Russian interaction and attempts to spoil/infiltrate Trump’s campaign, IN FAVOR OF HILLARY CLINTON.
It would be interesting to investigate Hillary Clinton’s direct knowledge of the Russian dirty tricks campaign against Trump, as she and her Husband receive speaking fees, etc. from the Russians.

OFF TOPIC, but one more reason why the Clinton email system was private.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the traitor Obama gave stinger missiles to Ansar al Sharia in Libya. The transaction used arms dealer, Marc Turi, and was without congressional oversight or permission. Some of these Stingers were transferred to the Taliban in Afghanistan, and one was used to bring down a chinook helicopter on 7/25.2012. The Taliban who fired the stinger were not well trained in the use of stingers and failed to arm the stinger. Thus, despite bringing down the chinook, the stinger failed to explode and fragments of the stinger remained such that serial numbers could be identified. This fact allowed the Taliban to blackmail Obama into releasing Bowe Berdahl in eschange for 5 captured Taliban generals.
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/qatar-extends-travel-ban-for-taliban-5-swapped-for-bowe-bergdahl/

Interestingly, some of the stingers also may have been transferred back to Libya.
It was a partial fear of any rescue attempt for Ambassador Stevens being shot down by stingers that caused no action to be taken. This act also destroyed some evidence of Obama’s traitorous act of arming Ansar al Sharia.

      May 19, 2019 19:44 PM

Interesting article dealing with the efforts of Obama in getting Bowe released. Does this, in anyway change your opinion of this being a traitorous act on the part of Obama?

Iran has always operated under the cloak of ambiguity through its financial and military support of its Hamas and Houthi proxies on the borders of Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Right now the Houthis are openly attacking Saudi Arabia.
and recently Hamas stepped up its attacks, firing 700 rockets into Israel.
This week’s mystery attack on Saudi oil tankers and drone attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure may be Iranian way of declaring that if Iran can’t export oil from the Middle East, nobody can.
Remember Iran downing a U.S. drone, that the Traitor Obama refused to blow up?
This allowed Iran, with the help of Russia to reverse engineer the technological capability to build its own drones. It has supplied 300 of these drones for terrorist activities.
The first 7 drones have been used to attack Saudi pipelines:

      May 19, 2019 19:22 PM

I am and have been for quite some time becoming more aware of significantly increasing homelessness here in Whatcom county. Couple of examples: a guy living in a car with towels covering the windows squatting on a gravel area overlooking the water and sunsets. He was asked by members from a local church if they could help and he refused any help from them; people transporting themselves and their belongings using obviously stolen bicycles. Actually, pretty depressing in the area between Bellingham and Blaine Washington.

b, Many people would call Israel a Terrorist Nation. Even the Israeli author of “My Chosen Land”, Ari Shavit said that in so many words.

        b
        May 19, 2019 19:51 PM

There are Jews in Israel that oppose what their government does, thats for sure.
There are also Jews in the states that dont believe Israel should exist.
You dont see that on msm, as you didnt see the NY Jews embracing the prez of Iran for example.

It looks to me that the dif Jews groups and Zionists need to be exposed and explained to people.
Alot of people dont know the dif, and if there is someone that could be called anti semetic, those people seem to be anti zionist and lump all Jews together.
Which, is exactly what the Zionist intended.

Now speaking of it gets a person attacked, there are people that have tried telling the truth of things that went to jail for it.

        The Zionists are powerful.

          May 19, 2019 19:06 PM

I would seriously ask you to read, “My Promised Land”

And, of course they are powerful, that is the name given to the original settlers and founders of Israel. The author of “My Promised Land” states numerous times in his book that many of the actions of the Zionists were negative to others in the area. SERIOUSLY, READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT BRINGS UP YOUR POINT NUMEROUS TIMES. By the way we have discussed this many times in our Book Club and most members, if not all, agree with you.

            b
            May 19, 2019 19:35 PM

            Neat people you know agree.

“Zionists were negative to others in the area” thats about the least that could be said, they murdered hundreds in 1948.

Another interesting thing, Hitler followed the Balfour agreement and moved Jews to Palistine begining in 1933. (Transfer Agreement)

Anyway, Hitler later met a Palistinian leader (forget his name) that convinced Hitler the Jews were stealing their land, the Balfour agreement was bogus.

So Hitler switched his thinking, eventually sending his favorite commando Otto Skorzeny, one of the men that rescued Musilini to support and train the Palistinians.

            May 19, 2019 19:58 PM

are you sure that Hitler supported Balfour Agreement?

            May 19, 2019 19:13 PM

Okay here is what I came up with:

“The Haavara Agreement (Hebrew: הֶסְכֵּם הַעֲבָרָה Translit.: heskem haavara Translated: “transfer agreement”) was an agreement between Nazi Germany and Zionist German Jews signed on 25 August 1933. The agreement was finalized after three months of talks by the Zionist Federation of Germany, the Anglo-Palestine Bank (under the directive of the Jewish Agency) and the economic authorities of Nazi Germany. It was a major factor in making possible the migration of approximately 60,000 German Jews to Palestine in 1933–1939.[1]

The agreement enabled Jews fleeing persecution under the new Nazi regime to transfer some portion of their assets to British Mandatory Palestine.[2] Emigrants sold their assets in Germany to pay for essential goods (manufactured in Germany) to be shipped to Mandatory Palestine.[3][4] The agreement was controversial at the time, and was criticised by many Jewish leaders both within the Zionist movement (such as the Revisionist Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinsky) and outside it, as well as by members of the NSDAP and members of the German public.[4] For German Jews, the agreement offered a way to leave an increasingly hostile environment in Germany; for the Yishuv, the new Jewish community in Palestine, it offered access to both immigrant labor and economic support; for the Germans it facilitated the emigration of German Jews while breaking the anti-Nazi boycott of 1933, which had mass support among European Jews and was thought by the German state to be a potential threat to the German economy.[4][5]”

Well, what do you know? This situation was not mentioned in the book, “My Promised Land” that I commented on earlier.

            b
            May 20, 2019 20:29 AM

This agreement is another clue that we have not been told the truth about the 2nd war.

As I said, at first Hitler followed the Balfor declaration, then he was informed by a palistinian leader that it was a theft of land so he sided with the Palistinians.

            (Found it.
            Amin al-Husseini
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amin_al-Husseini
Mohammed Amin al-Husseini was a Palestinian Arab nationalist and Muslim leader in … On meeting Adolf Hitler he requested backing for Arab independence and support in opposing the establishment in Palestine of a Jewish national home.)

This agreement(the transfer agreement) tells people that Hitler was not after killing all the Jews, he simply wanted the majority of them moved which he intended to do after the war.

Here is another little tidbit, one of his drivers was a jew, there were jews serving in the military, 1 or 2 of them were generals.

Its getting dangerous to tell the truth about that war tho.

“Nowhere in the Talmud is the Star of David an endorsement of the Jews. However, the Bible does reference this to be the Star of Remphan belonging to Moloch (Satan). Most Jews don’t like to admit it but our god is Lucifer and we are his chosen people. ~ Harold Wallace Rosenthal (1947 – 1976). A senior aide to Senator Jacob K. Javits.

It is my belief the U.S. is not trying to intimidate or attack Iran, but merely acting to keep the Straits of Hormuz open.
It actually would be financially beneficial to the US for the Straits to be closed by Iran, as oil would jump to about $150/barrel. But closing of oil flow through the strait of Hormuz would be devastating to Europe and seriously impact world trade and really hurt third world countries.
The U.S. is merely doing the right thing.
