Lessons Learned From Metals Stock Trading In 2019 – And Some Stocks To Watch This Year

Erik Wetterling kicks off the New Year by sharing some of the trading lessons he has learned over the past couple years when investing in junior metals stocks. We use Lion One as an example of a stock that has moved strongly int he past month and how Erik now views to Company. We also look at a stock that is significantly down over the last year and a couple stocks that he likes for 2020.

Erik & Cory – good interview on how to trim on the way up with big winners, like (LIO) Lion One, and to limit losses on the way down. My Lion One position has been very profitable for a while now, but I haven’t started trimming yet, because I believe it can run much higher when those deeper holes come back in, and as they grow their deposit.

I also completely agree with Erik that (AR) Argonaut Gold can really be a mid-tier producer that outperforms over the next 2-3 years, not just from rising gold prices and improving cost efficiencies, but because when both their development projects 1) Cerro Del Gallo and 2) Magino come on-line, they will radically enhance their current production profile.

Lastly, as far as Mandalay – I’ve followed it since late 2015 early 2016, and they were doing fine, but ran into a huge problem when their Cerro Bayo Silver mine in Chile flooded and there was a fatality a few years back, so they’ve been in the penalty box from that event, combined with the fact that they don’t do a much marketing and don’t get discussed much.

However, as Erik mentioned, their Bjorkdal Gold mine in Sweden is doing well, and they are drilling deeper under their Costerfield Gold & Antimony mine in Australia to expand the resource and mine-life of those operations. They are doing a pretty good job in that they just started producing from the higher grade Youle vein there. Lastly they have not optioned the Cerro Bayo Silver mine to Equus Mining to let them run that one, and have another large development project in Chile their Challacollo project that is moving along nicely and will supplement their production in the next few years.

    Good stuff guys!
