    Hi Tony:
For the record I am still on the fence concerning the moon landing.
The United States has become the Welfare State. The Government of the U S borrows from SSI when they can’t follow a budget. Tell a senior that the SSI program is going insolvent and we need to cut their benefits.See where that gets you! Why not start means testing the seniors?
It’s time to get serious about the financial health of the U.S.

  10. On August 9, 2020 at 7:05 pm,
    pardu says:

Big Al, In the book of Jeremiah chapter 7, those in Jerusalem were not worried of being destroyed because they believed they were strong and that they were God’s people and he would protect them. They gave as evidence the fact that they had a temple and therefore, God would protect them.

Jeremiah then warns them by saying “Trust ye not in lying words saying, The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord…”. Then he goes on to remind them that the Lord was first in Shiloh and to see what the Lord “did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.”

Jeremiah is telling those in Jerusalem that having a temple would not save them, but living according to the commandments of the Lord would. The Lord would only fight their battles depending on their righteousness.

They had first embraced “spiritual Babylon” before the real Babylon came and destroyed them.

There is a principle here that we as Americans need to observe. Many Americans believe that we are strong, look at our strong military, our strong economy, and so forth, boasting in our apparent strength, believing that we cannot be destroyed, just as those in Jerusalem believed.

Just look at America today, having departed far from the kind of people we once were, having removed God from our public square, even mocking anyone of faith. Look at the slide downward into greater immorality, and acceptance of that which we once abhorred in society. In short, we have embraced “spiritual Babylon”.

We, like Jerusalem, have departed from true principles espoused in our great founding documents and have drifted far from the counsel of the Lord in our character and behavior.

In the scriptures, it has been said that it is not common that the voice of the people will chose wickedness, but if too many of the people remain apathetic, choosing not even to vote (voting statistics in America are terrible) the majority then allows an active minority to gain office and if that minority, having gained office, begins to change the laws prohibiting freedom of religion, speech, liberty, etc., then the people suffer at the hands of those in the government who are choosing to enact wickedness.

We have two fundamental responsibilities, the Individual responsibility to live righteous and moral lives, and the collective responsibility to choose good and wise individuals who will support true principles and protect liberty. It is said we are free to choose. We can choose to be apathetic and allow wickedness to prevail among the leadership of our nation, of we can choose to have our voices heard, especially through the ballot box.

If we choose apathy, it is quite evident in history that eventually wicked people gain power and destruction lays in out path. If we choose to stand for that which is right and live our lives accordingly, we have hope for a better future, by dis-allowing those who would destroy that which is good to thrive, as it seems they are now.

This is a call to action, as it says in the scriptures that when we see these secret combinations of those who seek to gain power and overthrow the rights of the people, that we do not allow them “to get above you” (positions of power). If we don’t, we will surely become ripe for destruction.

      Good morning Pardu,

I find your comment to be spot on. I am currently involved in a study of Isiah. The Prophet Isiah took your words, or should I say the words of Jeremiah kind of to the next level as you are probably aware. I have personally found Isiah to be a very helpful read/study for me as it pertains very closely to many of my past actions. There is, obviously, some wisdom contained in The Old and New Testaments that society should be aware of and follow. Thanks for you comment.
