I don’t believe President Johnson cared very much about black people. He did see that black votes could be bought cheaply with tax-payer money.
Also I didn’t see black leaders, with the exception of Martin Luther King, care so much for the fate of black people as much as they did for their own power.
It is very sad that welfare can destroy family life by paying more for a family with absent fathers than with fathers present. It is certainly now true that this has produced a generation of black males that tend to be more promiscuous and irresponsible.
Even more problematic is that it appears there is no sign of reversal of this trend, as Christianity slowly dies.

I would agree with your comment about some of the black leaders, but certainly not all of them. Martin Luther King truly cared in my opinion. Al Sharpton and Jesses Jackson, I am not sure. A large number of the men who we have spoken with in the African American Community truly do care and Orrin is a good example. Need to do a bit more research on this end when it comes to that very emotionally charged subject. More later.

LBJ didn’t do anything unless it was to advance his power and wealth. After Roger Stone’s house was raided last year, I found his book “The Man Who Killed Kennedy.” at the library. Read the hard cover, took a few weeks to cool down, then bought the paperback which has about 40 more pages where he names a few more names and makes a few more connections. IMHO, LBJ is still the worst president since I’ve been old enough to know what a president is, going back to Eisenhower.

Many of the problems facing this country today started with LBJ. The last four years of his life corresponded to Nixon’s first term. During that time he basically committed slow suicide, perhaps out of a sense of guilt. Against doctor’s advice, he went back to smoking like a chimney, and drinking scotch. Whenever he felt an attack coming on, there was an oxygen tank handy to get him through it.

LBJ was a racist while senator from Texas. He was also a crook like Bill Clinton and Joe Biden. He had at least 7 people killed during his rise to power, fewer than the Clintons, but so far the Clintons have not murdered a president.

The law suit filed by the DoJ is available in PDF form at:

Let us hope that similar suits against the discriminatory social media sites follow.
I find it strange that Google was first, because there are alternatives to google, whereas Twitter and Facebook really have limited alternatives.

CFS…….here is an additional comment to your question the other day….
    Jubilee NO…….vs………Restructure the debt… YES.
    IMF……
And please keep “a careful watch on risks presented by elevated public debt.” Well naturally! Spend, spend, spend: then the austerity. Yet “where debt is unsustainable, it should be restructured without delay.”

So near and yet so far appears to be the case on US fiscal stimulus. Mnuchin and Pelosi are still talking. The numbers they are talking about are still large (USD1.88 trillion vs. USD2.2 trillion). US President Trump is still talking about an even larger number. Yet we are now under two weeks to Election Day. At this stage, is there any electoral benefit for either side in passing a stimulus bill that won’t actually stimulate anyone to vote one way or the other, or is there more benefit in the blame game? 13 days left to find out.

Elsewhere, the IMF MD Georgieva gave a speech called “A New Bretton Woods Moment” – pretty eye-grabbing given the first BW moment built our current geopolitical architecture at the end of WW2,

          Side not………….5G……..look for a headache…..the plan stands…..
Meanwhile, in the real world, we are already seeing a BW-style shift in the global architecture. For example, the US just offered to fund at low, low rates Brazil’s acquisition of non-Huawei 5G equipment. The US separately signed trade agreements with it on steel, ethanol, and sugar and to promote greater US inwards investment.
