Could be an interesting election year bj, but I think the really big one is coming in 2016. That will tell the tale about the future (short to mid term and maybe even long term) of our country.
Of the contenders for President, I hope Rand Paul comes out on top.
That takes the Rs from a party of religious hypocrites (social conservative) with a big government agenda funded by runaway spending to a party of social libertarians and fiscal conservatives. More simple put: decentralized planning where regional economies can take root and grow without Big Brother.
The group in Congress who came in on the Contract with America simply blew it, more likely never meant it. They co-oped the Reform Party Platform enough to bamboozle their way into office. They had their chance and now they need to be replace to restore integrity to the Party.
Big Al;
1). Concerning Ben Carson (sp) the answer is YES. He could win
2) On the fate concerning the nation Long term future. Both the 14 and 16 are extremely important votes.
Dutch
Yes, they certainly are.
I do agree that it is possible for Dr. Carson to win.
How ironic that the same Rs who now wail about the debt ceiling are many of the same who just got done earmarking and passing that shameless omnibus spending bill just signed by Obama.
The leadership within the Republican Party is more about format than substance. Impasses don’t bother me a bit. The less they do the less damage they do. Problem with the’ preference curve’ is we spend money we don’t have–and we do it more and more. There’s always bipartisanship when they’re spending like drunken sailors, but never on cuts. They tried the sequester only to restore the spending before any cuts could be made. The Republican Party needs to clean house of its big spenders, and this is the year to do it.
