KLDX went up 60% today on a takeover bid from HL which dropped 10%.

      Mar 19, 2018 19:42 AM

Love it as I just got my first tranche in place with KLDX last week, but was hoping to add a 2nd and 3rd tranche before something like this happned.

BTW – It is quite normal for the acquiring company (HL in this case) to take a hit when the news breaks as it is the company putting up the capital or paper (shares), which is shorter term dilutive to existing holders for the plan of longer term value creation.

(ALO) Alio Gold and (RPM) Rye Patch Gold Announce Business Combination

          March 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)

I already had Alio from the Timmins Gold takeover, and now I’ll have more Alio if Al, Cory, and Doc vote for the merger. But will Al, Doc, and Cory oppose the merger?

            Mar 19, 2018 19:05 PM

What is crazy for me today is that I had Klondex & Rye Patch both being acquired, and Anaconda doing the acquiring.

            Busy day for M&A !!

            Mar 19, 2018 19:25 PM

And I owned HL and KLDX, and Alio and Rye Patch. Now NEM and ABX may finally merge…

            Mar 19, 2018 19:02 PM

It’s good for the sector to consolidate some of these companies. There are too many miners and hopefully we’ll see dozens more takeovers in 2018.

            Mar 19, 2018 19:04 PM

It should also be noted that just 1 week ago I asked if Rye Patch (RPM) was seriously considering selling their Florida Canyon mine, as the chart on Inca Kola News indicated that the market got a sniff of.

The answer we got back from Big Al & Bill Howald was that they had too much invested to stop now that they were near the finish line. The reality is that after diluting the crap out of longer-term investors with capital raise after capital raise, they just sold the company 1 week later causing most investors that were with them any length of time to get taken to the cleaners. I don’t see this merger as a win for existing shareholders (unless they just got positioned in the last few weeks). The premium was less than exciting, and after all this wait to get into “Commercial Production” it is a huge decrescendo.

Somehow I told ya so just isn’t enough of a statement here.

That’s the last time I’ll believe anything Bill H. reports on.

IS RYE PATCH GOLD LOOKING TO SELL FLORIDA CANYON?
            March 7, 2018 – KER

“Big Al asked Bill and Ira, from Rye Patch Gold about the question of selling the Florida Canyon Mine and here is the answer.”

            “Guys, greetings from PDAC.”

“The board created the special committee to look at financing opportunities, not to sell. As Florida Canyon continues to move forward with positive cash flow from the mine, the goal is to start developing Lincoln Hill, and ultimately the other properties along the trend. But the way the debt is configured, revenue will go directly to servicing debt.”

“There has to be a change in the debt configuration and that is what the committee is looking at.”

“We have come to far to just walk away! We have hired Doug Jones as COO to help move the operations forward and continue the optimization of Florida Canyon.”

“Our goals are clear and we are doing everything to move forward. There’s also a new presentation on the website for you to look at.”

“This all comes from Bill by the way as he asked me to respond directly to you.”

In order to understand just how bad Hecla Mining (HL) financials are, the necessary blog post on IKN

        3/19/18 – Inca Kola News

““We structured the deal to use our excess cash balance so our shareholders can benefit from the approximately 162,000 gold equivalent ounces a year of production while minimizing dilution.”

“As at year end 2017 HL had $186m in cash so yes, it does have the “liquidity” to shell out $157m to KDX shareholders. However, look a bit further down and….oh, what’s that? $502m in debt? Hmmm, and here’s the payback schedule on that Senior Secured (aka at the front of the queue) obligation:”

        2018: $34.8m
        2019: $34.8m
        2020: $34.8m
        2021: 518.107m

“In other words, if HL can conjure up six hundred and twenty million dollars in the next three years, all will be well. That thought brings us to Exhibit B of this post, the net profits at HL over the last ten years….”

“Do the math (and notice how generous your humble scribe is by going for the ten year period and not just the last five years) and you’ll see that HL has generated the sum total of $168.118m in the last ten years. TEN YEARS! What’s more, $151m of that came in just one year. So folks, what do you think the chances are that Hecla makes enough to pay down that debt organically by 2021? Yeah, me too.”

“Thank you for the Monday merriment, Phillips S. Baker.” – Otto

Unfortunately, China is sucking out the wealth of the world.

Whether it is done by the hard labor and industry of its citizens or by predatory pricing is a different question.
Nevertheless, extrapolating into the future does not bode well for the future of the US as China WILL BUY up much of the resources of the world.

It appears to me that the “social” rating which appears to be starting to be assigned to its citizens is yet another sign of increasing control.
This could become scary for its citizens.

U.S. EVACUATING ISIS COMMANDERS FROM EASTERN SYRIA – SYRIAN MEDIA

The U.S. is evacuating ISIS commanders via helicopters from eastern Syria, the country’s state-run news agency SANA reported on March 19 citing local sources.

    SANA reports (source):

Civil sources said that three US helicopters on Monday landed in the area between the villages of al-Jissi and Kalu, about 2 km south of Tal Hamis Township in southeastern countryside of Qamishli.

The sources added that soldiers have accompanied 4 persons who were living in a house which was identified as a center for Daesh leaders from Iraqi nationality, asserting that the hovercrafts took them to unknown destination.

On February 26, two US helicopters landed in Twaimin area southeast of al-Shadadi city, transporting a number of Daesh terrorists to Sabah al-Kheir center, 20 km south of Hasaka, which the US forces are using as center for training the terrorist groups.

Accoridng to some experts, the US is going to use the evacuated ISIS commanders to build various “security threats” across Central Asia. The creation of these threats should serve as a justification of the continued US miltiary presence in the region.

In late 2017 and early 2018 reports appeared that the US had already redeployed some ISIS members from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan.

    Ain’t AI great?

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Uber suspended all of its self-driving testing Monday after what is believed to be the first fatal pedestrian crash involving the vehicles.

The testing has been going on for months in the Phoenix area, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Toronto as automakers and technology companies compete to be the first with the technology.

Uber’s testing was halted after police in a Phoenix suburb said one of its self-driving vehicles struck and killed a pedestrian overnight Sunday. The vehicle was in autonomous mode with an operator behind the wheel when a woman walking outside of a crosswalk was hit, Tempe police Sgt. Ronald Elcock said.
