Canadian Dollar Correlation To The S&P, Currency Manipulators, and A Shift In Investor Sentiment

Cory
October 15, 2018

Marc Chandler, Editor of the Marc to Market Website and Managing Partner Bannockburn Global ForEx, joins me to address a number of the major stories for the markets. We first look at the currency that was impacted most by the drop in the US markets. Next is a discussion about the weakness and issues facing Europe this week. We also look at if the US is going to label China as a currency manipulator and if every country should be labeled as one. Finally we address the drop in markets last week and if there is a general shift in investor strategy occurring.

Sounds like you guys prefer criminal scumbags like McConnell.

        Oct 15, 2018 15:58 PM

And you’re clearly typical lefty: idiotically irrational.

        Oct 16, 2018 16:49 AM

David , they are all scumbags……..THE TWO HEADED SNAKE SYSTEM…..
Read Jim Willie’s interview for the over all view of reality.

Why do liberals always assume that just because you call out criminal scumbags like Pokey Hauntus and Shillary that means you must love criminal scumbags like McConnel?

          Oct 16, 2018 16:44 AM

          Because their brains are defective.

Be sure to keep a running public record on the Kavanaugh votes in favor of corporate interests and who his covoters are. Indiscriminate name calling without substance only works on blogs. Kavanaugh won’t be able to pitch a fit to hide his conservative corporate votes. By the way Matthew, your best posts cocern the markets and I appreciate those.

            Oct 16, 2018 16:11 AM

David, I pointed out many weeks ago that Kavanaugh was no good and a neocon. [Neocons are collectivist, big government-wielding cronies and, therefore, LEFT, btw.]
But that is separate from the baseless charges thrown at him by that woman. So, on that front, decent people were on his side.

The fact is, the left doesn’t care one bit about such accusations unless the accused is their foe. Why the silence when it comes to the very credible Bill Clinton accusers?

            Oct 16, 2018 16:56 AM

Kavanaugh is horrible on things like the “Patriot” Act. Hell, he wrote much of it. And he is horrible on things like Bammy Care. Who in this blog is defending him? I called him just another thug in a black robe, and I hoped he wouldn’t be confirmed and Trump would have had the common sense to nominate someone like Andrew Napolitano.

Notice, Ebolan, how the Lefties’ histrionics completely derailed any serious discussion of Kavanaughs real flaws?

            Oct 16, 2018 16:47 PM

Response to Matthew on Kavanaugh. There was no corroboration because the investigation was killed by McConnell and Trump. There was all kinds of professional people that provided statements that were placed into the record but not read into the record that was not made public. So between not following up on complaints, burying relevant statements from the public in the record and making assertions about what the FBI found without making those findings known, was pretty much a coverup and railroad job. The Senate does not have to follow the Riles of Criminal Evidence and methodically violated them while spinning the evidence or blocking of evidence to sway public opinion to appoint a Justice of less than steller qualifications. Missioon accomplished… Supreme Court distorted and no longer a check and balance. I prefer a different America than a Fascist State.

            Oct 17, 2018 17:01 AM

Do you think the left, from FDR to Obama, has been any less fascist than the so-called right? If so, you are mistaken.

Young and naive, in high school history, I thought FDR was the champion of the working man. But any good snake oil salesman has a good pitch.

            FDR was an utter scumbag.

They remove all possibility of public oversight.

“Enlightenment is man’s leaving his self-caused immaturity. Immaturity is the incapacity to use one’s intelligence without the guidance of another. Such immaturity is self-caused, if it is not caused by lack of intelligence, but by lack of determination and courage to use one’s intelligence without being guided by another. Sapere Aude! [dare to know] Have the courage to use your own intelligence! is therefore the motto of the enlightenment.”
            ~Immanuel Kant

–the goal of American education is the contrary, to keep the masses benighted rather than assist them on the road to enlightenment.

It proves what phonies the Demorats are, GH. They are just as bad on things like the Tyrant Act (“Patriot” Act) as the Republocons. Harris, PokeyHauntus and the rest of the Demobums didn’t say word one about the Tyrant Act during the hearings.

Check out this article on our good friends the Israeliars.

And check out the 6th and 7th paragraphs. Be very careful what you say or you might be sued by an Israeliar.

Just keep your mouth shut and be a good little Goyim and pay those taxes so your corrupt politicians can shovel even more of your money to Tel Aviv.

Just look at the Jew bastards…

The tale would have ended there but for the fact that Israel’s parliament the Knesset has passed a law now making it illegal to support a boycott of Israel ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD [my emphasis]. Enter the group called Shurat HaDin, which is an Israeli government supported lawfare instrument, that seeks to find and sue the perceived enemies of the Jewish state, punishing them through court costs and potentially bankruptcy.

On the topic of investor sentiment, it is so volatile out there regarding many markets. Fear is overtaking rationale to an extent. Last weeks stumble does not appear to be the beginning of a greater crash… Yet!

Oil is interesting. There are increasing calls of $100 oil within 6-12 months. Quite a few people are pointing out that often in the past, a spike in oil prices precedes massive market sell-offs. I wonder how much subsatnce this theory holds at the moment? I personally hope we dont get $100 oil anytime soon purely because as an Aussie, we will get slaughtered at the petrol bowser.

In Wake Of Terrifying Climate Report, German Environmentalists Will, In A Twist, Rally For Nuclear

    Michael Shellenberger – Oct 15, 2018

“In the wake of a “terrifying” new report on climate change, environmentalists will rally in Munich, Germany this Sunday to — in a twist — demand a halt to nuclear plant closures, which they say are increasing air pollution and locking-in fossil fuels.”

“Over the last year, environmentalists have faulted Germany for abandoning its 2020 climate goals, bulldozing an ancient forest to mine for coal, and exporting deadly air pollution to its neighbors.”

“The environmentalists point to evidence that every time nuclear plants are closed they are replaced mostly by fossil fuels because solar and wind are so unreliable.”

Here’s what’s ahead for Nickel, Copper, Lithium and Cobalt prices

17 hours ago | Reuben Adams

“Despite precipitous price falls in many base and battery metals, year-to-date price averages are still higher than last year, according to Wood Mackenzie experts at last week’s LME Week event in London.”

“Nickel has been this year’s best performer, with average prices to the end of September 36 per cent higher compared with the same period in 2017.”

“Copper prices were up 12 per cent, zinc up 9 per cent, and lead up 3 per cent year-on year.”

“And while lithium and cobalt prices capitulated when massive amounts of new supply flooded the market – the “narrative remains positive for both metals given the rising requirements for EV [electric vehicle] and energy storage”, Wood Mackenzie says, reinforcing the consensus optimistic outlook from analysts and industry experts.”
