Zulu Ali, Esq

Attorney Zulu Ali, a native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served with the Marine Security Forces.  After graduating from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, Attorney Ali served as a sworn police officer with the City of Shelbyville, City of Lewisburg, and Vanderbilt Police Departments, respectively.

Attorney Ali earned a Juris Doctorate (law degree) from Trinity International University Law School and a liberal arts degree with an emphasis in African Studies from Regents College through a consortium with Tennessee State University.

Attorney Ali has been admitted to the California State Bar; United States District Courts for the districts of Central California, Southern California, Northern California, and Colorado; United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuits; United States Supreme Court; and the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands.

In 2007, inspired by civil rights attorneys Charles Hamilton Houston, Thurgood Marshall, and Avon Williams, Jr., who used the law and courts as a vehicle to make change and protect all people against injustice, Attorney Zulu Ali opened the Law Offices of Zulu Ali with a focus on representing persons accused of crimes and seeking criminal justice, immigrants, victims of discrimination, persons seeking civil justice, and defendants and victims at the international criminal court at The Hague, Netherlands.  Attorney Ali and his law firm take on extremely difficult cases and matters that provide an opportunity to make changes in the law, through the courts, when the law is unjust.

Attorney Ali serves as Director of the American Committee for United Nations Oversight, an advocacy group lobbying the United Nations for police reform; Director of the Stop and Frisk Academy, which trains at risk youth and others to deal with police encounters; Director of the Southern California Veterans Legal Clinic, a legal clinic offering no cost and low cost legal services to military veterans; and a member of the National Conference of Black Lawyers.

In 2017, Attorney Ali was recognized as one of the most influential African American Leaders in Los Angeles by the National Action Network founded by Reverend Al Sharpton.  Attorney Ali has been Honored Top 100 Lawyers by the National Black Lawyers-Top 100; Top 100 Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers-Top 100; Premier 100 Trial Lawyers by the American Academy of Trial Attorney; Top 10 Lawyers in Criminal Defense, Immigration Law, and Personal Injury by the American Institute of Legal Counsel; Top 10 Attorney in Criminal Defense, Immigration, and Personal Injury by the

One should always start with numbers…..Latest FBI crime data. (2018)

      https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2018/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018/tables/table-43

And don’t try to tell me cops are racist, because data does not show they are, no matter how many times the media may make that claim.
      I understand math.

        Aug 15, 2020 15:21 PM

I don’t recall Ali saying that cops were racists given the fact that he was one.

HOW GULLIBLE DOES MR. ALI THINK THE GENERAL PBLIC ARE?

    Riddle me this Oh Sage:

    If the protesters are peaceful…..
How come $BILLIONS of damage were done.
How come $MILLIONS of property was looted and STOLEN ?

The facts are: Some people were peaceful, bjut most were not !
A definite group were nothing but opportunist thieves and CRIMINALS.
You only have to watch the videos and SEE, for the most part, violence WAS NOT INTIGATED BY THE POLICE.

In fact, I challenge anyone to find ANY UNEDITED video that shows police instigating violence.

PEACEFUL protesters……None so blind as those that don’t wish to see.

      Aug 15, 2020 15:23 PM

The conclusions that I have come to after numerous conversations is that there are some peaceful protesters and some very violent ones. No human can disagree with that statement.

        Aug 16, 2020 16:19 AM

Presence of violent ones make the whole protest VIOLENT. If you are a ‘peaceful’ protestor going along with violent ones, you are VERY guilty. Remember the wisdom of Old West: You ride with outlaw, you are an outlaw. Wake up Al !

I don’t believe that I have ever said that Democrats are not engaging in questionable actions.

I can certainly agree with some of the comments made by the gentleman especially about the changes that should be made in how police departments are constructed, the training of police officers and how certain 911 calls could probably be handled differently. However, he seems devoid in understanding how many of these “peaceful protests” are infiltrated by people not concerned about the reason for the protests. I might add that there is not systemic racism within the police departments in this nation or the peoples of this nation. That is a narrative that has been used by a certain political party and eltes of this nation to continue to divide this nation for those that benefit financially and politically by pushing that narrative. I also disagree with the meme created by a hostile partisan press that continually baits this president as they baited him after Charlottesville to attempt to get him to utter what they wanted to hear. If you look at the totality of his statement, he was absolutely right in condemning the violence on both sides which was evident when any reasonable person reviews the videos of the encounters. In fact the regional FBI office identified extremist left groups and individuals that were going to attend as counter protestors. Also present were paramilitary groups connected to the anti-government militia movements which had nothing to do with the white supremacists and were there to confront the radical left. I would surmise that some of these were “fine” people along with some of the “fine” counter protestors. The president was absolutely correct in his statements if you would take time to read all of it and I think the gentleman is easily influenced by a media bent on framing who he is by parsing every utterance he makes in an attempt to portray him in an light to destroy him. We know the democrat leftist controlled traditional media has an extreme hatred for him since he is the first president to unmask who and what they are. One final statement—-if the gentleman and those that protest would take the time to look at the FBI data on crime and police brutality they would realize that police brutality has declined significantly over the last 3 years and that the issue is police training and not systemic racism but instead a class issue. The response to the George Floyd killing is out of proportion to the facts and has been co-opted by people not interested in the least in the killing of Mr. Floyd.

For a man who does not want to discuss political issues Doc, you are one of the most intelligent of all the folks within our universe. AND THAT INCLUDES ME!

        Aug 16, 2020 16:00 PM

Thank you, Al, for your gracious comment—-every once in awhile I feel it’s time to speak out for “truth” and not ideology or mis-infomation. President Trump has done more for the African American community then Obama, Clinton and Bush put together (and I can list the achievements if needed). In fact more people of color are realizing it and will be voting for him in 2020 then 2016 and that scares the heck out of the democratic party and others that have propagandized that community and done zero for them. Well, that’s my 2 cents and you probably won’t see me comment again on the political section for another 2 years.

    Aug 16, 2020 16:19 AM

I might add that the “restraint” of the police to the rioters has been amazing and certainly does not reflect the narrative of those condemning them as “racist”. The criminal and violent leftist elements among the protesters have been allowed to run amok and unfortunately has resulted in millions of dollars of devastation to small businesses and owners that didn’t deserve the lack of response which is due to weak politicians and a liberal press tacitly approving the carnage.

Tyler has certainly put together a valuable web site!

I have been listening to the precious metals reports here for at least ten years. I have ignored your political commentary as it is one sided and it has heavy white supremacist tones that are undeniable. I have chosen not to engage until now. These blogs are the voice of racism and white supremacy. I am a person of color. You are against people of color you all have made that clear.

      Aug 16, 2020 16:17 PM

      Mr. Walker,

Some of the bloggers may fall into that category because I encourage all opinion. To call most of us racists is not even close to being accurate.

      Aug 16, 2020 16:49 PM

I would disagree with that entirely—-I would not generically say African Americans are more racist then whites although there are African Americans that would agree with that comment. Of course it is very difficult to specifically address your comment since it consists of a broad brush without specifics—-but then again, I rarely comment on the political section. Personally, I wouldn’t have anything to do with this site if I felt what you feel.
