As an old geezer I am depressed that there are so many wonderful things for mankind yet to discover and yet humans seem to be losing the desire to learn more and more.
For example, we know that the archaeological site Gobekli Tepe was deliberately buried, but less than half that site has been examined. We know there are five or six other sites nearby, that are as big or bigger that are not being examined at all, except by the odd thieves wishing to steal and sell artifacts.
We know that the Moai on Easter Island bear many similarities to the statues in Turkey, and yet when that was discovered a few years ago those Moai lower parts were quickly re-buried and videos

I understand, I think, with what Dr. Birnbaun was saying, but I believe the cause is more general. Over my lifetime, it seems society demands that everyone must conform and be in agreement. Challenge a “once accepted position” and that person is immediately attacked……not on the merits of any scientific or logical arguments, but on the basis “situation already decided, no change accepted belief”.
So many examples exist…..
