The war was a mistake, but for a lot of reasons.
Fact: Iraq had WMD, they admitted it in 1996 with an extensive declaration.
Fact: They stopped UN inspectors from monitoring their weapons. (Opinion: this was primarily after the Clinton Admin messed up politically and attacked in Operation Desert Fox to divert from the Lewinsky scandal and impeachment.)
Fact: The US was attacked with Anthrax just after 9/11, and Iraq had an Antrax program.
Fact: Mueller’s FBI’s messed that up bad, and still no known operative, (I pray it wasn’t the FBI.)(Opinion: but the deep state Media induced fear was used to go after WMD in Iraq)
Fact: Collin Powell could not get the Germans and French on Board to force Iraq to open for inspections. (Opinion: IF Powell and the Bush team had got them on board, Iraq would have complied, no need for war.)
Fact: The war in Iraq was executed on the Rumsfeld cheap, with limited resources and a lack of understanding of what it would take to occupy and create security when you decapitate a government.
Opinion: There was legitimate concern of the use of Anthrax after East coast attacks, and Sarin in Japan, so shutting down Chem/Bio with programs anti-western govs wasn’t a bad idea – doing it thru force of arms was not the best way, but it did stop a number of programs (Lybia, South Af, and a few unnamed). Building partners and standing with solid integrity and interest in all human life would have been better.
