Recently I have been discussing the moratorium in Sweden on uranium production and exploration. These conversations have been with Garrett Ainsworth, President and CEO of District Metals, an exploration company focused in Sweden. As helpful as Garrett has been keeping me up to date, I wanted to get another take on the moratorium from a person in country. That’s where my guest today comes in!

Maria Sunér, CEO of the Swedish Mining Association (“SwedMin”) joined me to provide a background on the moratorium and where the government stands on lifting the restrictions. I ask about timelines for potential approval and how quickly mining and exploration could start back up when/if the moratorium is lifted.
