How many people here have been watching Ken Burns documentary on The Vietnam War. It doesn’t matter how you paint brush that war, The Americans are the aggressors who have murdered and pillaged many countries and their peoples. Take North Korea who invaded whom and who is still dividing that country up. The US tries to portray it’s position as one of honor but they are only interested in domination. Eventually The US will reap the consequences of their horrible foreign policy. DT

Haven’t seen it. Don’t watch PBS anymore, too much propaganda and since they went digital years ago I no longer can get it. Could watch some of their stuff on line but don’t.

I’d be real interested to hear if Bob M. watched it and what he thinks.

Yes DT, I’m watching and wouldn’t miss it. What Ken Burns comes up with will be as truthful as you will ever get…….

Dang, sorry to hear about that Chris. I got broadsided 30 years ago at night by a driver on drugs. Car was so demolished I didn’t even recognize it when I went out to the junk yard the next day to get my stuff out of it. Miraculously I walked away from the wreck without a scratch. If I would have been hit a fraction of a second later than I was, I would have been killed as the impact would have been at the driver door instead of the engine compartment.

You are not only very bright Eddy, but in that case very lucky. Congratulations.

Thanks, Mr. Big Al. I’ve been in a couple of very bad car wrecks and only got a sore neck.

In the wreck I mentioned the engine compartment of my car disintegrated, the car went into a violent spin, jumped a curb, took out a concrete bus bench then smashed into a tree. I don’t know how or why I survived.

GOP Report Accuses Watchdog Of Going Easy On Wells Fargo
By KEN SWEET – Associated Press – Wed Sep 20, 5:18PM CDT
NEW YORK (AP) — The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau could have fined Wells Fargo in excess of $10 billion for its illegal sales practices but instead settled for $100 million, according to the agency’s internal documents released by Congressional Republicans this week.

The CFPB also had evidence that the bank’s sales problems went back to at least 2006 — far earlier than the 2011 to 2016 timetable that Wells Fargo originally admitted to, the documents show.

“The bank knew since at least 2006 that its employees were gaming its incentive compensation program, yet failed to take actions sufficient to stop it,” CFPB employees wrote in a 2016 confidential memo.

The documents were released as part of a politically charged report by the staff of House Financial Services Committee Chairman, Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas. Hensarling is a critic of the CFPB who along with other House Republicans has called for the firing of its director, Richard Cordray, an appointee of President Barack Obama, as well as for new laws to curtail the bureau’s authority over the financial services industry.

    D.T :

Concerning your Sept 8th post “Bitcoin is getting gonged. Where is our resident cryptologist? He doesn’t seem to be around now that Bitcoin is under siege.Maybe he was on the gong show last night and didn’t survive his act.LOL D.T
For the record D.T my not posting in a while has nothing to do with the decline in price of Bitcoin.
When you were referring to the resident cryptologist I was hoping you were referring to CFS,but I know better.
I have stated before that once Bitcoin and the cryptos encountered negative news they would start falling and I fully expected posters to start casting aspersions.
I did not know who would come out first, but I am not surprised.
I was surprised to see Jerry pile on with”Sometimes the entire board goes silent-gong fishing-Ecoin 101. Perhaps now would be a good time Jerry to tell us what you think about the cryptos and if you own any yourself.

Initially Bitcoin for me started as just another speculative bet,but now Bitcoin represents much more than that for me.

AsI have stated before I knew the road ahead for the Cryptos was going to be rough.I fully expected what was just experienced with Communist China, and Jamie Dimon.

Ok,ask yourself why do Central Banks need to deter the growth of the Cryptos?Ask yourself why do Governments need to deter the growth of the cryptos?Because you have no personal control and lack the ability to think for yourself. You are a sheep.Baaaaaahhhh

One would not expect anything different from Communist China. Here is another quote”Last week they, they being Communist China, banned the practice of creating and selling digital currencies or tokens to investors to finance start up projects.”
In a nutshell what Communist China is saying that heaven forbid someone thinking outside the box,ie..creative thinker, would use crypto currency to further an idea that has come to them from sources unknown and use crypto as the vehicle for making this a reality.
When you think of innovative thinkers the first thing that comes to mind is Communist China right?
Communist China can do no better than copy and steal technology.Communist China has been on the back side of technology from the git go and they will continue on the same path. The only difference is now people are opening their eyes .

Now let’s go back to the 2008 implosion of Bear Stearns.Let us review the part JPM played in this.
    Long story short.
The CFTC let B.S accumulate a massive short position in Silver.Everybody knew this.Position limits were thrown into the wind.BS encounters a liquidity crisis and implodes.JPM and Mr Dimon assume BS silver position for pennies on the dollar. The Comex raises margin requirements three times in one week. The CFTC enforces position limits on speculators.Jamie Dimon and JPM are “grandfathered” in with their newly acquired BS short contracts. How does that go Mr Moriarty? For every buyer there is a seller? Until there isn’t.

So I guess I’m one of the lunatics, along with others. Here is an article by Dr Peter Diamandis. The Chairman and CEO of the X Prize Foundation, which leads the world in designing and launching large incentive prizes to drive radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity. Lunatic? I think not.

And now Big Al brings on Mr Ko from Corvus Gold to tell us about Crypto currencies. At least Big Al has enough common sense to admit that he sticks to what he knows.
Once again we hear the reference to tulip bulbs,I reference you back to the dot com bubble comparison.I start to question Big Al’s logic for bringing Mr Ko on. In the past the KE Report has had guests that were very knowledgeable concerning Bitcoin. Why didn’t you consider these? To debate the effect the cryptos have had on the Jr’s is another exercise in futility. Passive investing in ETF’s have done more damage than the crypto’s ever will.Like I said before “the twenty something in Japan buying and transacting in the Crypto’s doesn’t give a rats ass about some deposit in Bathurst Inlet.
To state the blockchain is efficient and not realize the cryptos provide the same efficiency for transactions was not surprising.Of course Govt’s can step in, big deal. There will always be places like the Cayman Islands for example .Why do you think corporations have Billions overseas? Some Countries will always provide a safe haven against the hegemony of corrupt Politicians and Predatory Central Bankers that continue to rob us of our freedoms.
To say that the cryptos aren’t backed by anything is like saying Visa,Mastercard,Am Express are.

Top estimates of total number of slaves in US run about 11 million.
That was morally unacceptable and eventually it was universally recognized in the predominantly Anglo-saxon culture.

Current estimates (totally excluding child labor) of CURRENT slavery in the world are around 25 – 30 million.
Yes, there are sex slaves in the West and parts of Europe, but these pale in comparison with numbers of slaves in Islamic countries.

A free viewing of a new online docu-series on one of the great health epidemics of our time, Alzheimer’s, starts today:

Awakening from Alzheimer’s – the live online video event is now live with Episode 1

    http://event.awakeningfromalzheimers.com/trailer-2c/

Here’s what Hyla Cass, MD, has to say on the topic:

    “CAN WE REALLY REVERSE ALZHEIMER’S?

Almost nobody knows this, but a small group of specialized doctors is reversing Alzheimer’s.

And I mean really small. There might be a few dozen doctors who can claim to know how to reverse this dreaded disease.

For starters: how successful are they, really?

Let me answer that question here: In just one study, six out of ten people with Alzheimer’s completely recovered their minds and memories and they were able to go back to their jobs.

Another patient started out in the third percentile on tests of cognitive ability (BAD!) After the treatment, he was in the 84thpercentile (REALLY GOOD)!

People in their seventies who have been treated by these doctors report they are now sharper than they were in their thirties.

This should be front page news. But have you seen it on CBS or NBC or Fox or PBS or anywhere else? Let me answer that for you: No. This may be the most important news story of the year, and one of the most important news stories of the last ten years.

But so far, it’s gone almost unnoticed. With the baby boomers getting older, the epidemic is just getting started, and the current trend will have millions in nursing homes requiring 24/7 care.

The treatments that work are totally new. It’s only in the last couple of years that everything has come together and the few doctors I’m talking about have shown that they can routinely reverse Alzheimer’s. And you can hear some of them here, talking about their treatments and successes.”

    Meanwhile in NorthEastern Spain:

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Thousands gathered Thursday at the gates of Catalonia’s judicial body in Barcelona to demand the release of a dozen officials arrested in connection with a vote on independence that Spanish authorities are challenging as illegal.

The demonstrators answered a call by pro-independence civic groups to stage long-term street protests against the police surprise crackdown one day earlier.

Acting on a judge’s orders, police seized 10 million ballot papers and arrested at least 12 people, mostly Catalan government officials, suspected of coordinating the referendum. The arrests were the first involving Catalan officials since the campaign to hold an independence vote began in earnest in 2011.

Catalan Vice President Oriol Junqueras acknowledged that the crackdown had disrupted the referendum plans. “It’s evident that we won’t be able to vote like we have done in the past,” Junqueras told broadcaster TV3.

Even so, he remained confident there will be a large turnout of Catalans on Oct. 1 — whatever form the vote takes. Pro-independence leaders have insisted the ballot will go ahead despite the obstacles.

NEW YORK (AP) — In a world where nearly every investment is rising, so is gold. But a big part of why many investors are buying gold is that they’re worried those other investments, such as stocks and bonds, are due for a drop.

Will Rhind is a former executive at the largest exchange-traded fund backed by gold bars, SPDR Gold Shares. He recently started a rival ETF, GraniteShares Gold Trust, and talked about what’s been behind this year’s 13 percent rise for gold. If that performance holds, it will be the best year for gold since 2010. Answers have been edited for clarity and length.

Q: Is it odd or disconcerting that gold and stocks are rising at the same time? Isn’t gold at its best when everything is falling apart?

A: Definitely not odd, but you have to understand why it is doing what it is doing. The main reason has been the decline of the U.S. dollar since the beginning of the year. Historically, gold has had an inverse relationship with the dollar because the lens that a lot of people view gold through is as a currency and not as a commodity.

What’s also been helping gold prices is geopolitical tensions, such as the North Korean situation. Gold is one of those safe-haven assets that people have historically gone to in times of stress.

Q: But the Federal Reserve is raising rates and inflation is low. Haven’t each of those historically dulled the appeal of gold as an investment?

A: Although interest rates are rising, they’re not rising in a large way. We’re talking about very nominal rises, and interest rates today are still at historical lows versus where they were 10 years ago. From that perspective, that’s not really going to impact gold much at all. And that’s shown in the price.

On inflation, this is not the consensus, but you’ve got some people starting to question the last 40 years of a disinflationary environment and wondering if this is a turning point and are we now moving into an inflationary phase.

Q: Gold is still down about 30 percent from its peak six years ago. Have investors reframed what they expect from an investment in gold?

A: Gold hasn’t escaped the bear market in commodities generally, against the bull market of the dollar. When people look at asset classes that are trading at or near all-time highs, gold and commodities are very much not among those asset classes.

As to whether you can expect good performance from gold going forward, it is impossible to tell, but we’re at a level that looks to be reasonable given where we’ve come from.

I think what’s happening is there is a movement of capital out of some of these more traditional asset classes (like stocks and bonds) and into gold. As bond prices have increased, and equities have increased, people might be looking to rebalance that. You’ve got people really nervous about the level of the stock market and the bond market, and they are looking to insulate their portfolios to the extent that they can if there’s a correction or worse in the market. People are looking for ways to diversify their investments, and gold is probably the largest, most liquid asset class in the world that is not correlated to stocks.

You’ve started to see smarter money moving into gold, famous hedge fund managers talking about that the last few weeks. (Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater, the world’s largest hedge fund, suggested in a recent blog post on LinkedIn that investors keep 5 percent to 10 percent of their assets in gold to protect against a market he sees as increasingly risky.)

Have you had any luck coming up with companies exposed to Indium? I to use to be an investor in ADEX. I have been looking but I think and you can correct me if I’m wrong Indium is more of a by product than a stand alone deposit type mineral.

      JohnK,
I could not find a decent pure play on Indium. You’re right, it is mostly byproduct

There will be a shortage in a few years..

It seems like a fair chance the daily cycle low is in for the precious metals miners.

Here is another angle to consider. Mr Moriarty was telling us for a long time about the Israel’s nuclear program and many here refused to believe him.

There is little proof of Israeli resposibility for 911. There are very worrying suggestions of fore-knowledge.
But that raises the question of direct US fore-knowledge and possible involvement.

While Israel is/was capable of 911, they are/were not capable of cover-up of their involvement.
There was, in my opinion, a cover-up by the US.

As regards possible suitcase nuclear explosion involvement, the biggest indication, in my mind, is the prevalence of certain cancer deaths among the surviving first responders. It is a pity the debris was never tested for trace fission elements.
