An important principle of our investment process at U.S. Global Investors is a belief that government policies are a precursor to change. As a result, we closely monitor the fiscal, monetary and other impactful governmental policies of the world’s largest countries, both in terms of economic stature and population. We’re always listening for the proverbial shot heard around the world. As we approach America’s Independence Day, this belief rings especially true.

In 1776 it was America’s reaction to oppressive government policy that led to the Declaration of Independence, unbinding the 13 colonies from England’s constraint and permitting them to prosper as their own entity, what would become the United States of America.

    Jul 09, 2014 09:49 AM

So this guy is telling me he is happy living is third world-police state-banana republic country? Sheesh, some people enjoy pain.

In other news, somebody just gutted the US Dollar. Let’s see where we go from here.

      Jul 09, 2014 09:51 AM

Hanging just above 80 right now.

        Jul 09, 2014 09:03 AM

Big Al, I am going on record and saying this is the beginning of the Fed losing control of the market. No amount of lies can hide the stink that is the US economy. When you have Wal-Mart’s and Container store ‘s CEOs coming out and saying the economy is still in the dumps, you know there is trouble on the horizon.

      A loss of about 30

5 over the next few years, before it stabilizes, regretfully.

        That was 30%

I hit the return instead of shift key. Darned eyesight problem, as usual.

    Frank lost me at:
unbinding the 13 colonies from England’s constraint and permitting them to prosper as their own entity

It’s good to look on the bright side. But not at the cost of being delusional and out of touch.

Doug Casey comes much nearer the mark: America was wonderful, but it’s gone. All that’s left is the vestiges of prosperity in a Wiley Coyote moment.

Leader in benevolence!!! And anyone who says diff’t, we’ll bomb your ass.

      Jul 09, 2014 09:54 AM

As always a couple of ways to look an issue. Maybe it’s the crowd I hang with but I kind of have to agree with Doug.

Very sad about Frank, he is living in the past. It’s really hard for us old folks to change & see what really is going on. Some even think the “Rebubicrats” would change everything. Not those now in Washington!

      Jul 09, 2014 09:21 AM

      Chris!
Rebubicrasts….exactly…..ONE PARTY MASQUERADING AS TWO…EXACTLY….disgusting…these idiots dont govern – they just both kiss ass with their constituencies……

Get used to it. From here on out do not expect anything other than a bought election.

    V. interesting interview on David McAlvaney show. 33 mins in and first comes the question re gold: Is Fort Know a fairytale? No, says DM- the gold is probably still there, but recommitted many times. Thus it’s become the Fort Knox fraud.

    http://mcalvanyweeklycommentary.com/

ANDY…………..”probably”…….the only way is to have a look see,…audit….publish all the numbers on the bars,,,and photograph each one…….and have them each sampled(drilled) essayed , by at least 10 inspectors, from other countries…………THEN MAYBE, we can think the gold is actually there……………and make sure the inspectors show their ID’S AND make sure they are not dead…..a week later………..

    Jul 10, 2014 10:24 AM

Yep, OOTB – The absence of any audit equals fraud loud and clear.
