Welcome!

Are we seeing a general uptick in growth around the world?

Cory
January 10, 2017

With data around the world showing a slight uptick in growth I discuss with Chris if this is an actual trend change. It would be huge for economies around the world if this is the case but we are not getting too excited yet. We also continue with our Uranium day and talk about a couple stocks and why Chris thinks this will continue to be a good investment sector.

Sounds like the chances for a pull-back in copper, gold and silver are beginning to lessen… with uranium having just left the starting gates?

A while back Mr Temple flagged the rising three month Libor rate. With the U.S. three month libor now over 1% now ,what do you think will be the effects of a continuously rising libor rate?

    Jan 10, 2017 10:46 PM

It will incrementally raise financing and related costs and, if it goes on long enough, will put added stress on the markets

      Jan 10, 2017 10:17 PM

Thanks for the reply. How far do you think rates have to rise before they become an issue with the markets?

What we are seeing is America moving back ” To The Future”, Rome lasted one thousand years and it endured every imaginable challenge to it’s supremacy, eventually it ended. America can come back and be great again. These years when you view them in the context of history are meaningless, America is only 250 years old, they still have 750 years to prove there worth. DT

      Jan 10, 2017 10:55 PM

Nope, I think the US is where the UK was in 1945 after the enormous sacrifice and financial drain of two world wars.

Rome lasted about 500 years as did the British Empire. The US Empire has barely made 100 years. The sun is rising in the East.

The USS Mahan, a guided-missile destroyer, fired three warning shots with a .50-caliber machine gun at four Iranian boats after at least one of them traveled within 900 yards of the Mahan with a sailor manning its main gun. The Mahan was traveling north through the strait toward the Persian Gulf with two other Navy vessels, the amphibious craft USS Makin Island and the oiler USNS Walter S. Diehl, said Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman. “This was an unsafe and unprofessional interaction,” Davis said, citing the speed with which the Iranians approached and the manning of the weapons on board. “They only stopped their approach following the warning shots being fired.” Davis said the incident marks a return to a series of provocative encounters between U.S. and Iranian vessels that had started to wane over the latter half of 2016. The Navy counted 23 interactions that were deemed unsafe and unprofessional by the Iranians in 2015 and 35 in 2016, but the last significant one occurred in August. In that incident, the coastal patrol ship USS Squall fired three warning shots after three Iranian boats approached the Squall and another similar U.S. ship, the USS Tempest, at a high rate of speed…” https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2017/01/09/navy-destroyer-opens-fire-after-harassing-behavior-by-iranian-patrol-boats/?hpid=hp_hp-more-top-stories_cp-destroyer-1030am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.fc966062ac7c

Why has Obama gone to such lengths, which he knows are completely contrary to the policies of the new administration and Republican congressional majorities? While every outgoing administration engages in such activities to some degree, that being human nature, none recently has matched Obama’s frenetic pace. Certainly, building his legacy, boxing in the Trump White House and exacting a bit of political revenge are likely factors. But the surest explanation is that Obama, like most political leaders, Republican and Democrat, simply did not expect Trump to beat Hillary Clinton. Much of what Obama is now doing he would not have done before Nov. 8 for fear of providing ammunition to his political opposition.

Thanks DT. I do have an affinity for the Jr miners in the Gold, Silver, PGM, Base Metals, and Uranium space, however I keep close tabs on the Mid Tiers and Majors to see where the overall markets are trending and where the big boys are diversifying in relations to different jurisdictions or their strategic investments into smaller companies (potential for takeovers).
