FOMC Statement And The Impact On The USD

Cory
February 1, 2018

Craig Hemke joins me today to share his thoughts on the continued downtrend in the USD and how the Fed statement impacts the markets. If the downtrend for the dollar is going to be a long-term trend then we should assume metals will benefit however the precious metals need to breakout first.

“Everybody” is expecting 3 rate hikes this year. Really? Guess I didn’t want to be in the “everybody” club, anyway.

It’s not enough that the Turd needs to pretend he understand markets, now he has jumped right into lying through his teeth.

      He said,
      “Wait.
      What?!?
      Futures market manipulation and spoofing??
I thought Weiner/Christian/Armstrong/Moriarty/Norcini/Casey/Gilbert all assured us the markets were sacrosanct, free and fair!”

I don’t speak for any of the others but I have never heard any of those people claim that market were sacrosanct, free and fair. Certainly I have never suggested any such thing. I have commented that if you want a free and fair market, you should consider moving to Zimbabwe because that’s the closest you will come on this earth.

I do know the vast majority of those writers believe all markets are manipulated, always have been and always will be. And that information is noise, it neither signals a buy signal nor a sell signal. It’s both perfectly true and perfectly meaningless at the same time.

Maybe the Turd (I think the name was forced by truth in advertising laws, I can’t imagine anyone actually picking that as a name) would like to answer one simple question.

Name a single financial market that isn’t manipulated.

        Feb 02, 2018 02:03 AM

Some markets are manipulated for than the others. Manipulation is heavy in metals market though but that also creates trading opportunities. One simple rule I follow: when sentiment is in crapper, buy some. When prices start to move, buy more. So far the strategy has been good to me.

          Feb 02, 2018 02:31 AM

          CJ:

But the key is that all markets are manipulated you can argue all you want that one martket is more manipulated than another but the fact remains they are all manipulated and that knowledge is pretty meaningless.

Do not hold your breath until Turd answers a simple question. He hasn’t got the guts to actually say all markets are manipulated so he can’t identify a single one that isn’t manipulated.

He will pretend that he wants a response to the announcement that various brokers and banks are being charged with manipulation via spoofing from those he attacked but the last thing he wants is for people to realize he’s is nothing but a liar.

          Turd:

All markets are manipulated. But you knew that, you just want to feed people’s fantasies so they will send you money. You are a lying conman.

        Blast from the past:
        On February 11, 2014 at 9:50 am,
        Gary says:
I have to disagree with Bob on the manipulation score. It’s not legal to manipulate the markets. That’s why positions limits are set. Of course if the regulators ignore position limits then a big player can push the market where they want it to go.

Off Topic: Train Crash: Unverified info follows. (Probably unverifyable)

The wife, Ms. Duffy, of one of the Republicans on the train reports the Capitol Guard went ahead in cars and helicopters to ensure the track was safe….This “accident” was theoretically impossible.

The driver of the truck was seen running away . It was an elderly African American woman wearing a James brown wig .

Tracy, I live a few miles from where this train accident occurred. Actually, I have trash pick up service with this company & have for may years. The owner lives just down the road from me. They are all the nicest people , even offering a senior discount to people like me & my husband. I do know this happened, because I spoke to the lady who works the front desk this morning & she was so broken up, crying on the phone. I truly believe this was a false flag. It makes NO sense for that truck to have been on that track @ that time.
This wasn’t one of the regular trash trucks like pick up @ my home, but one of those huge tandem trucks. Whatever was done to cause this infuriates me. I am aware how vehicles, trains, planes can be controlled & I say, ‘ may the ones responsible burn in hell ! ‘

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — One hour ago
President Donald Trump said Thursday he “really didn’t care” about opening a portion of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling but insisted it be included in tax legislation at the urging of others.

There’s still a debt problem, but
Oil exports may be the best for saving a collapse in the dollar.
    CFS comment.

Addressing fellow Republicans at the House and Senate Republican Member Conference in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, mentioned the wildlife refuge known as ANWR in Alaska’s northeast corner as he recounted accomplishments in the last year, including the tax bill passed by Congress in December.

Trump said he “never appreciated ANWR so much” but was told of its importance by others.

“A friend of mine called up, who’s in that world and in that business, and said, ‘Is it true that you’re thinking about ANWR?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I think we’re going to get it, but you know.’ He said, ‘Are you kidding? That’s the biggest thing, by itself.’ He said, ‘Ronald Reagan and every president has wanted to get ANWR approved.”

The comment had a major impact, Trump said.

“I really didn’t care about it, and then when I heard that everybody wanted it — for 40 years, they’ve been trying to get it approved, and I said, Make sure you don’t lose ANWR,'” Trump said.

Oil in the refuge, Trump said, is one of the great potential fields anywhere in the world.

Sorry for saying everybody guys! I’m glad we all have different opinions, it’s more fun that way 😉

I think they will raise 3 times this year… but (and that’s a big BUT) if the US markets fall more than 10% I think one rate hike would be put off. Leaving us at 2 hikes for the year.

No offense taken, Cory. I’m not shy at speaking in my own defense, as you may have noticed.

I’m sorry Flynn was forced out by dirty FBI tricks.
McCabe and Strzok are clearly as dirty as they come, and need to be investigated and spend jail time. I hope that was why Gowdy has gone to DoJ.

Hooray! Comey and Rosenstein also need to join Bill & Hillary in jail with Jim and Tammy Faye.

I still think the dollar will reach the 84 – 83 area before it has a significant bounce…

Makes sense to me. 83-84 is where a lot of the prior peaks and congestion is found.

Don’t forget the fork, Fib, and MA supports. They’re all there.

Here’s what is probably going to happen. For the last 7 years, H&S patterns abound and they ALWAYS trigger and reach their endpoint. The only countervailing factor at play at all are the moving averages, which are bullishly aligned more or less. Again, assume the worst, hope for the best with this sector.

    Hi Mr. Moriarty,
Everything on the internet is traceable…you’d be mindful to remember this. Depends what the definition of ‘is’ is….so please stop moving your goalposts. Case in point:
