The day after the surprise rate cut here’s a renewed look at the overall system
Rick Ackerman kicks of today with his thoughts on the Fed rate cut. We look at the continued fall in yields and huge volatility in a wide range of assets. Rick has some low targets for the 30-year that speaks to his overall thoughts on the financial system.

The other day he thought he was running for US Senate and told the crowd if they didn’t like him they could vote for “the other Biden.”
And this is the best this corrupt system can do? WHAT A CLOWN SHOW!
From “The Morning Line” commentary on my home page Thursday (www.rickackerman.com):
Fox News has been pushing the notion that Biden has lost his marbles and that voters have picked up on this. Democrats needn’t worry, since we can expect his fawning supporters in the news media either not to notice, or to profess to be charmed by his tendency to forget where he is, who is interviewing him, and even his wife’s name.

Mencken saw things clearly:
“As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”
A bumper sticker on my car, from Mencken: “Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under.”
That’s a great one that shows how few decent people there are.
Here’s an excellent one by William Hazlitt:
“The love of liberty is the love of others; the love of power is the love of ourselves.”
Great stuff, Matthew.
But I tell you, every now and again the sheeple surprise you. Finally got my first win fighting a local tax increase. And you should have seen the tax eaters squirm. And what we were up against! Towards the end the SEIU dropped in a load of money. They had telephone banks, mailers, ads in papers and their signs. Still beat them and hardly spent anything. And the other tax increases in adjacent counties went down in flames.
But the only thing I know for certain is the tax eaters will be back. In fact there’s another tax increase on the Nov ballot to fight. Plus, I may have made some powerful enemies in this go round.
That’s good to hear, Ebolan. Good luck in the next round!
If senile Joe gets the nomination will he pick Michelle Obama or Hillary for VP? Or will he sell the VP to Bloomberg for a cool billion? I hope he picks Hunter!
Hillary seems an obvious choice, one that could even leverage concerns that Biden might sink into dementia before 2024.
The FED stimulate the monopolization of the internet System !
You the MAN RICK ! GOLD the only REAL !
Thanks, James. Onward and upward: $1731 is next.
A lot of past overhead has been taken out……………..jmo
Bernie can meanwhile go unwind in Havana & stand in line for his plate of rice and beans
Biden is corrupt like many politicians. If they really looked into many politicians on both sides they all got rich on backs of us tax payers.
They bargain their pork belly deals when a bill needs to pass, or how many have hands in China, or rebuilding after all these wars. They invest in all companies rebuilding Vietnam, Iraq, afganastan, etc, etc.
They use our tax dollars and give it to other countries in return for paybacks, look at hunter, Hillary pay for play, who knows what last 50 years these swamp rats took us taxpayers for. Think of money they pissed away.
You’re right, that’s true for almost all of them.
It is true, but people still believe their vote means something.
They actually believe there is more than one party etc.
Carlin was right, pointless to vote.
If people didnt vote the people running the place would poop themselves.
Too right!
Evidence that it’s pointless to vote include the establishment’s campaigns to get you to vote. Remember how much trouble Jon Stewart got himself into when he said he didn’t vote? He had to backpedal and apologize. The last things the gov wants is to be ignored and seen to be openly acting without the will or consent of the people. When they get you to vote before doing what they please, they put you on the hook to share in the blame for everything they get wrong. This is why nearly every gov on earth pretends to love democracy; to make the sheeple feel responsible for their own enslavement. Of course there’s truth to that but…
More stupid…………is when the sheeple send them donations……….
Carlin was right, pointless to vote.
I think it’s worth getting involved to try to defeat local tax increases and bond measures and anything else that gives the local tyrants more power. A single vote is useless but sometimes it is possible to get the masses outraged, at least at the local level. And sometimes there outrage does lead to defeat of local ballot measures.
Nothing wrong with getting involved………at any level……….jmo
Yes, local is a completely different ballgame and of course it makes sense to push back where you can have an impact.
I agree, local is an entirely dif game.
Fighting bond issues is wack-a-mole. The horror is that whatever purpose bonds are said to be raising money for — smaller classrooms, better roads, bike paths — you can bet that 90% of the cash is going toward keeping healthcare and pension funds for public employees nominally solvent.
Sanders/Clinton: What a ticket that would make! Two world-class liars and non-stop graft-grubbers, neither of whom has ever made a dime other than by peddling political access.
The Clintons had never even owned a home before they moved into the White House. Obummer’s Chicago handlers bought him a nice home and gave Michelle a $400,000 sinecure as ‘community liaison’ at a local hospital, but these perks were nothing compared to his Cape Cod digs.
People need to do a little reading …….On the day Clinton’s left office…….
they had 3 houses, and a $135,000,000 TRUST FUND…….
and how in the hell did they do it on a salary of $400,000 (less taxes)..
and when entering office they were BANKRUPT………LOL
Rick if gold is going up because of low interest rates coming, when gold stocks going to follow gold up.
Or do we need to get out gold stocks and buy gld instead of gdxj???
I forecast gold without paying much heed to the many factors that are said to influence its price, Paul. Considering chart action alone greatly simplifies the task of getting it right.
That’s a fact that your hidden pivot method has thoroughly proven.
DEG.AX DGMLF RC drilling confirms large scale gold system at Hemi

Thanks for that update. Looks like halt over and good news. Drill results not bad and maybe this thing will move a little closer to NVO…like past it. Dreaming again.
Got me thinking about when I got DEG and how long have I been ignoring it. Bought first in 2017 and added until mid 2018. Probably got tired of it being cheap. Anyway, I thought the Pilbara was a possibility (Quentin Hennigh). Hopefully all this proves QH right.
There has been a very significant increase in refinancing. This will decrease the number of defaults that might have occurred in an economic downturn.
It also kicks the can further down the road for the Government, despite increased costs it might have with the corona virus.
I see this as a necessary pre-cursor for Trump’s post re-election rebuilding of U.S. infrastructure.

So, Joe Biden cleans up on Super Thursday. Does he still know how to tie his shoes?
