Welcome!

Let’s look ahead to earnings season for the major miners

Cory
September 11, 2020

Craig Hemke joins me to share his thoughts on the recent inverse correlation between gold and the USD. We then look ahead to the earnings season and compare where the metals prices were in Q2 vs Q3. The current quarter, that ends at the end of this month, looks to be very profitable for any precious metals miner.

I hold precious metals TO PRESERVE CAPITAL, not to speculate.

      Sep 11, 2020 11:59 AM

Makes sense. The metals are to preserve wealth and purchasing power.

The PM miners are for speculating, and offer much more volatility & leverage to the metals prices to enable this. They do still have the Gold or Silver locked in the vault of the earth, and will still track the moves in the metals (in general), but they also have all the counter-party risks of a company’s management team, operations team, environmental/energy/labor/permitting/taxation challenges, that the metals themselves don’t have. Conversely a well run mining company can go up many more more multiples than the more stable underlying metals can. It’s a mixed bag.

Both approaches have their own merits.

        ditto……….both with their own merits

CFS, just a question,,,,,If, you hold metals, not to speculate,….why do you bother posting drill results…?

(EDR) (EXK)Endeavour Silver – Silver Comeback Story?

    Crux Investor – Sep 11, 2020 #VIDEO Interview

    https://youtu.be/z0JqBW506GI

      Sep 11, 2020 11:33 AM

Good video. EXK was my first miner in 2001-2002 timeframe. Watched most of MIF yesterday and decided to take a few profits and change a few things. Sold Decade Resources, Fremont Gold, Millrock Res and took small profits in Discovery, Vizsla and Freegold. Bought Westhaven Gold for 3rd time, and Northstar Gold after MIF presentation. Looking into one of the MIF miners, but still looking.

        Sep 11, 2020 11:19 AM

OK: I bought Canasil Resources. They announced their first drill results during MIF yesterday and not as expected. They had previously sampled and had some decent samples. When I first looked at it is was down over 20%. I decided to get a starter position to see if they could pull this out. They are a silver explorer in Mexico. In addition, as I was shuffling a bit, I added to Precipitate thinking someday they will announce some drill results, added to Banyan for expanding their property, added to Kairos and rolled Artemis into them as Kairos showing slight sign of life and added to Blackrock as the shorts appear to be having a field day. Blackrock’s last drill results were very good. Freegold reported one hole that was not that out of line for them as it was 136 m with 1.02 AU g/t, 12m with 2.3 g/t and 49.7 m with .93 g/t. Not exciting but they already have identified a large resource. In any event, I took some profits and bought Northstar mentioned above.

          Sep 11, 2020 11:03 PM

David – thanks for the updates. I used to follow Canasil back in 2016 as they were JV’d with Orex Minerals before selling their stake in the project to the big boys. I’m still invested in Orex, and did well in a few trades in it the last few months, but have lost track of what Canasil is working on now. I was thinking they went more Gold than Silver in Mexico, but they often occur together there. Thanks for bringing them up as I need to check in on what they are working on now.

As for Precipitate, I’m still all bulled up on what they may find with Barrick’s assistance on their JV, as well as their other project near Goldquest. Barrick needs to spend the money on the earn-in for the Joint Venture in about 1 +1/4 years now, so I expect to see much more newsflow there, and then I’m curious what PRG will find on their other 2 100% owned properties. The one next to Goldquest looks particularly prospective.

As for the Pilbara plays, I used to own Kairos but abandoned ship 2 years back. I did just get back into Novo Resources for the first time in years, and have considered De Grey, but figure NVO owns so much land and I like their team so much that I’m just sticking with them for that area play.

Yes Blackrock and Freegold have both been doing excellent exploration work and have had great moves higher. I don’t own either and missed the big moves in both, but have been following the stories due to all the chatter on a investing forums about them, and am always looking for an interesting window to accumulate the good successes when the time is right.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:15 PM

Canasil: They are mixed bag on resource. Not sure what they want to find but they have found a little bit of everything.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:25 PM

A mixed bag, eh? Well I’ll have to check out what they’ve got in their bag or multiple bags…

Speaking of Precipitate Gold, I just now saw this news that came out yesterday. They are further refining the drill targets, so it’s coming into focus.

(PRG) (PREIF) Precipitate’s Ground Magnetic Survey Further Refines Drill Targets within Copey Hill Zone at Ponton Project, Dominican Republic

            by @newsfile on 10 Sep 2020

Jeffrey Wilson, Precipitate’s President & CEO stated, “We are pleased with the latest magnetic survey results as the identification of multiple magnetic low anomalies coincidental with combined high-grade gold rock samples and elevated gold-in-soil values supports the Company’s gold epithermal model and vectors our drill target delineation to specific priority areas where these anomalies overlap. Additionally, the Company has engaged former Newmont Mining chief geophysicist, Tom Weis to conduct 3D inversion computer modelling and assist in the interpretation of the latest magnetic data to gain further insight on the sub-surface geophysical characteristics of the Copey Hill Zone in advance of drill target selection”.

Hi David – I’ve traded in and out of EXK since 2010 and have been building up a more significant position in it again on the pullbacks, as I had sold out completely earlier in the summer.

You mentioned Westhaven Gold, and I just a position going last Friday and it’s off to a nice start with a bump higher this week. They just got done presenting the Metals Investor Forum (MIF) and only caught some of the presentations, but missed most of theirs. When the post the MIF videos to youtube there are a number I want to watch on my own schedule.

I’ll need to look into Northstar Gold further as I don’t know much about them, so I appreciate the heads up.

Today in the miners I didn’t do much, but I added more two gold producers – Jaguar Gold and Galane Gold.

          Sep 11, 2020 11:00 PM

I sold out of Jaguar too soon. Are you talking about “Galiano”? Thanks.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:19 PM

Jaguar is in my top 3rd largest Gold producer position along with Argonaut and Roxgold, (although Northern Vertex, Galiano Gold, and Gold Resource Corp are gaining traction in market value). I also have some smaller positions in other gold producers like McEwen, Superior Gold, Galane Gold, Mandalay Resources, Wiluna Mining, Anaconda Mining, Inca One Gold, and Mexus Gold. Pretty soon Pure Gold and Minera Alamos will graduate to that list as well.

            > No, I added to my Galane Gold (GG) (GGGOF) – they are a small producer in Africa, with big upside to exploration and rising metals improving margins. I’ll post a recent interview below.

I also own Galiano Gold (GAU) and it is a nice sized gold producer position in my portfolio, and they are also operating in Africa, so it is a bit confusing.

Northstar: the MIF presentation was a little understated but during the Q&A Gwen Preston pumped it some. I would expect them to do some”back stage” interviews with each which may be the place to go.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:23 PM

Good point. Sometimes I get more clarity out of those backstage interview, than I do with the full corporate presentations, but I’m looking forward to them putting out the MIF Videos from the virtual conference soon.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:28 PM

Northstar: checked my notes and they were in the Abitibi/Kirkland Lake area, only 47% shares available retail, 38.8 mil/47.3 mil diluted shs, went public Jan 2020 and good drill results. Gold explorer although some other hits.

            Sep 11, 2020 11:35 PM

Thanks for that update David and I definitely like the Abitibi/Kirkland lake area and have a few other stocks in that prolific region. Seems like a tight float then, and a newer venture from this year. Much appreciated and may take a look-see this weekend.
