We are overdue for a short term low and the longer it takes to materialize, the better our chances will be that it turns out to be more than a short term low. Gold needs to jump back over that important weekly pivot near 1812. It tried to do that yesterday when it hit 1811.40 before falling to 1771.
To be clear, I do think the next short term low will prove to be “durable” and significant beyond the short term.
We have two days to salvage this week and it wouldn’t surprise me if it happens.
When looking at weekly charts like the following one before Friday’s close, remember that the closing price you see is not the final close for the week.

I saved my mom 3 years ago from a motor vechicle accident. Instead of focusing on fractures and trauma, they kept asking if she had been vacinated. I grabbed the nurse personally on the side and said you put anything into her without my consent I will have your head. They tried repeatedly to have her tested and if it’s not for me they would have broken her like they did with other patients there with no family or support. Please don’t ask me how I got in.
This is real and scary and I walked the whole ward myself personally disgusting what I seen. People being violated by nurses and staff with family to defend. They will jab you if they want to. It is a cult system and you better be in top of it.
I would bet a great poker hand your nephew probably had existing complications but I don’t know. Either that or medication killed hkm. A young person with good health don’t go down facts.

In fact any thing that you use to cover your mouth, even your hand, when you talk, sing, cough, sneeze etc…. will to some degree reduce the amount of virus particles that are allowed to freely float in the air, so I do not know how you can say that a face mask does absolutely nothing when in fact they do something. Wanted to add to my previous post in regard to your summary. The person you mentioned who you follow is imo no different the. All the other gold gurus who profess 3000 gold or 5000 gold in the sense that we all know this is coming nothing new. What makes an investor stand out or a chattier stand out from others is making calls and backing them up with charts or why factor. Right or wrong. I’m not perfect but have made great calls and have made some not to well however never way off. I put myself out there everyday and specify exactly what I do day to day. Does he do that? Does he tell you what’s currently happening? I’m don’t know that why I ask you respectfully. If mot he is mo different then many of the posters at king world news and that doesn’t help the short term to mid term investor trying to make money from the miners imo.

doc, u took on some severe criticism for your comments in the recent past to relax and let this thing work itself out in coming weeks. And here we are.
Until the producers, in particular the majors start to show an outperformance to the metals themselves best to sit and watch. Right now they continue to do the opposite as has been the case for some time. Simple as that. Happy talk from kitco type pundits talking their book ain’t going to do it.
Please, jonsyl, attempt to be honest. Doc expected lower prices for Q4 and perfectly marked the low for the sector with his confident warning. GDX then went up 21 percent while plenty of juniors went up 50 to 100 percent. As for this correction, he clearly did not see it coming even when it was about to begin. If he had, he would not have reported buying some USAS at over $1.00 about two weeks ago; he would’ve waited. Today it hit 75 cents, 32% off its high of two weeks ago. Of course, .75 is still 11% above its low when hibernation was suggested by Doc.
SILJ is still 7% above its low of two months ago while AngloGold Ashanti (AU) is still up 40%.
The candy store was wide open two months ago and those who bought could have sold whenever they wanted to during this decline and still be much better off than those who didn’t buy.
Why the rant and sensitivity to a positive thumbs up to a poster. Seeing as you’re intent on keeping score with past calls. There are many more virtually on a daily basis. Have no problem with pitchforks as long as used for their intended purpose, as are cups and saucers, etc etc.

I already pointed out that you misunderstood that comment of mine from the 18th. It wasn’t a call. It was a statement about what would happen if 1883 was exceeded that I should have worded differently. However, it is interesting that you have never once called out Doc for the countless times he has stated his view of the future as fact only to have something very different happen. It seems Doc knows what newsletter writers know: the herd will forgive wrong call after wrong call as long as they come wrapped in “conservative” “careful” and “mature” language. I noticed decades ago that the average retail guy doesn’t mind a bear that is wrong nearly as much as he minds a bull that is wrong. They want to see themselves in their gurus so endless fearfulness, uncertainty and inaction is seen as heroic while confidence, certainty and action are very quickly seen as reckless the moment they are wrong. All the “experts” who blew it in 2016 showed real recklessness in my book. No setup is ever good enough for those poseurs so they equivocate in perpetuity. In a couple of months, it will be 9 years since Doc was overtly, confidently and clearly bullish. He has never once shown such bravado since except as a bear. Not at the ’15-’16 low or the ’18 low or even during the great moves that followed. Once bitten, twice shy.
As for your question, it’s your funny lack of accuracy/honesty/logic that motivated my reply. The same goes for my numerous comments about Doc’s record over the years. The truth simply doesn’t line up with his claims or, in this case, yours. I’d point that out if I had the worst record around here or the best record.
P.s., Don’t forget that he thought the Dow was in a bubble around 13,000 (along with Al, Jeff Deist and almost every other guest) while I pointed out that my charts made the case for 19,500. That was also almost 9 years ago and the majority of KER commenters agreed that the Dow was in a bubble so no one had a problem with anyone’s calls when everyone was wrong. Human nature is funny, especially among the 80%+++ who feel most comfortable huddling together in a herd.
I don’t doubt the sincerity of your calls and the effort you put into them with all the technical jargon. It’s your false preeminence. Although I find it somewhat entertaining.
I’ve never compared you to Doc or anyone else. However, judging from the long history you put forward comparing your successes vs Doc’s, it certainly hasn’t been the case in my short history here.

I agree, we all take our best shot. What you don’t seem to realize is that most of what I post does not constitute any shot at all. Most amounts to nothing more than observations or technical report cards, not predictions.
My issue with Doc pertains to fact versus fiction and has nothing to do with my record versus his. I’ve stated repeatedly that I’m wrong all the time while he pretends he’s never wrong despite crystal clear evidence to the contrary at every major low and then some. I won’t rehash the details yet again but it takes a lot of nerve if not delusion to do what he does. There’s your false preeminence.

Yep. They’ve been under some severe pressure due their San Jose mining license possibly not being renewed and all the local pushback in Mexico on their project. I got in for a day, before realizing the extent of that risk and quickly exited again the next day, and have just been watching it implode from the sidelines for a potential poach, but there are other less risky silver/gold producers to pick from that aren’t having jurisdictional issues.
Coeur Mining looks similar terrible, but with better jurisdictions
Yep, and CDE us a better operator with Silvertip coming back into production in a year or two, versus Fortuna that’s had a mine come offline until the local community issue gets sorted, if it even does get renewed.
Rochester seems to be the problem at Coeur. Low grade operations in this area seem not to be economic

– AR has cash costs at $1300 at Florida Canyon
When I go back in history and think about the fight that Coeur had with Ryre Patch, it probably was not worse the effort
Ryre Patch probably never had a chance to be economic
Coeur has a planned overhaul and optimization of Rochester over the next 2 years that should improve the economics, but much of the grade in Nevada overall is much lower than in other jurisdictions, but there are companies producing all the way down to 0.2-0.3 g/t so it isn’t the same game as the 1.0 – 2.0+ g/t open pit deposits needed in Canada or West Africa for example.

Some have speculated that at one point Coeur may sell their Sterling deposit (that they got from taking over Northern Empire), to Anglogold Ashanti as a compliment to their big endeavor to bring their Silicon deposit into production in tandem with the Mother Lode and the Lynnda Strip deposits that they picked up by acquiring Corvus. Ultimately it makes sense that Sterling/Mother Lode/Silicon all be mined as one giant super-pit. If Coeur sold Anglogold Ashanti Sterling, this would give them the capital to reinvest in Rochester and finish up what is needed to get Silvertip back into production again.

Now, as for the land position that Rye Patch had staked when Coeur was asleep at the wheel and let those expire, that was good on Rye Patch for picking those up fair and square. Coeur was pissed about it, but they eventually bought back the Net Smelter Royalty that Rye Patch had on those claims, which was smart for CDE, and a really dumb move on Rye Patch’s part, and a bad decision by Bill Howald. Then when Rye Patch took over the Florida Canyon Mine (something they failed at miserably) Coeur was wise to snatch up all the other projects like Lincoln Hill, and their other land holdings from Rye Patch while they were distressed and playing mine operators. Rye Patch failed epically under Bill’s direction, and Alio came in to take over the mess but also failed.

It wasn’t until Argonaut came in that Florida Canyon finally became a profitable mine, because AR are superior operators with experience making lower grade bulk tonnage projects work. It became mine #4 for Argonaut, and has allowed them to advance their larger game plan of getting Magino and Cerro del Gallo developed (each with around 5 million ounces of gold), so Florida Canyon just was a means to an end for them to get their company to where it is today with a massive growth profile, and 14 million ounces of global gold resources and one of the larger construction projects underway at Magino, about 1 year away from first gold pour.
I think Doc is the greatest for the big picture! I just wish I could learn to be more patient like he suggests. Joe has a right to his opinion. Love him or leave him he has nailed going into year end quite accurately. I feel like I am in a candy store. I have some dry powder, thanx to Doc. I will wait for a better opportunity to add to NFG, LAB. I believe jurisdiction will become way more important over time.
Theralase followers: I mentioned the other day somewhere on the site that Theralase issued a quarterly report that “might” move price after all these years. It was up about 25% today. Too early to tell if it actually rallies. But it started under .18 on Monday and now over.25 US a few minutes ago. Interesting….

GDX 240 minute chart…..Note that the gdx 1:1 ABCD down target is 29.59….Due to low volume today i believe the algos will let it fall there before trying to bid things up…could take a few more days…note this gives a reverse angled head and shoulders and probably not THE rally yet….but that is ok…..

I’d submit that in addition to Sabina and Skeena, that Orezone, Integra Resources, Liberty Gold, Gold Standard Ventures, Perpetua Resources, Wallbridge Mining, Benchmark Metals, Treasury Metals, Cartier Resources, Montage Gold, Newcore Gold, Amex Exploration, Bluestone Resources, and Marathon Gold are other good takeover targets out of the Gold Developers.

I’d have put Osisko Mining in there too, but it looks like their new 50/50 JV with Northern Star has that one sewed up by the Aussies.
Yesterday SSR Mining finally bought out Taiga Gold (TGGDF). No real surprise here and frankly no premium either for Taiga shareholders. I blew it all out and immediately rolled it over to Santacruz, which may be a mistake, but we will see.
I mention this because it is looking like the new takeover model is little to no premium.
Yes, I’ve had a note on my desk to get into Taiga Gold before they were acquired, but I was thinking that would be months away not weeks away, so I missed that one. Darn it.

Back in the 2008 timeframe when they tanked the General Markets and the miners, I thought it was because the miners had been moving up like the General markets.
This time with the General Markets running their uncorrectable 45 degree upward move for ten years and the miners basically getting run over by buses for years with a few ice cream sundays thrown in to temp us, I originally thought the algos would discriminate for the first time in their lives and would treat miners as in need of bail-outs rather than continued beatings. But, now if a beat down comes, I think the algos will prove themselves as ignorant as they are corrupt and smash everything including their grandmother.
But, maybe the miners will crawl out of the tailings pile first. That is my best guess concerning the scam being perpetrated by Wall Street. Make sure your shelters have plenty of ingredients for a Western Omelet, if you like that kind of thing.
Like LIT, copper is also ready to drop. We can take Wednesday’s brief poke through the 50 week MA as a foreshadowing of the slide to come.
