Patience most definitely and a cool head when others are losing theirs. Pan American leaving gave us a golden chance to add sub $1.20, hope some of us took it. Its going to get very exciting.

    Sep 08, 2012 08:06 AM

Listening to Marshall Berol and many other pundits, it is hard to understand why they all think the ECB move to buy sovereign European debt will be inflationary. Mario Draghi said that for every Euro of short term debt purchased, they would be selling the same amount of long term bond assets from their portfolio. No net Euros will be created. So why all the fireworks in the market place?

As for Ben Bernanke, he is constantly buying US 10 year T-Bills, but it is always a mystery wether he is really selling longer term assets to offset the purchases, as in operation twist. So, next week he might announce QE-3, (increased purchases of T-Bills?) IMHO I would think the Fed would save it’s last and best tool in the arsenal for a really big black swan event, like the next big bank failure, or sovereign default.

My portfolio is pleased with the rise in the PMs, but I am still perplexed as to what exactly the PM market is anticipating. Any ideas out there?

      Sep 08, 2012 08:47 AM

Pixel – …for every Euro of short term debt purchased, they would be selling the same amount of long term bond assets…

Does anyone see how stupid this is? Interests are at their lowest ever, any rationnal person would want the longest term possible if stability is the goal, but this moron will sell long term bonds and buy short term ones.

Under Bush, they put a stop on issuing 30 year bonds for a while when interest rates were very low. That certainly raised a flag for me: what is going on here…

      Sep 08, 2012 08:16 PM

My guess Pixelbill is that it is anticipating some major “black swan” events. I certainly am although I think that these events are fairly predictable when you simply look at the U.S. and Europe.

Icing on the cake would be the Middle East and/or perhaps China.

      Best,

      Big Al

Big Al, Always enjoy your programes. I am a long time Orko holder. This was a great interview with Gary. Very insightful and it appears the future looks even brighter for Orko. Peter Grandich is someone I follow with regularity- very knowledgeable on the markets. Many thanks. Paul

The pilot was in control. Never fly low and slow! He may have been low but he was not flying slow. The dynamic is CFT. At altitude there exist a buffer between imperfection and terrain. When at 100 feet wheels up you are on a fast tight rope without room for error. Al, I think his girlfriend was in that car!

    Sep 08, 2012 08:51 AM

THIS IS A …..DEAR AL,,,,,RANT…..I believe that you should stop, hault, quit,
saying….”that you think, the demos are going to win the election”….reason….
THIS IS A SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE….and I know you are not infavor of any gay marriage, child killing, etc.., the subliminal message, is effective on weak minds that do not know what to think, or may have a crack in their armor….so, I would appreciate that you might consider this request as a positive …..in all due respect….thanks…ootb..
    oh,,,btw….great show….as always…

      Sep 08, 2012 08:53 AM

I think the Demos are saying to all a Jim Jones message, in that they are in favor of death in whatever form it is in. Suicide seems to be their message as a party, at least we hope so on this site.

        Sep 08, 2012 08:23 PM

Not sure what you mean Dennis F,

        Please elaborate for this dunce.

        Thanks,

        Big Al

          Sep 08, 2012 08:04 PM

Hi Al, well Jim Jones was a religious fanatic who finally turned to serving up poison laced kool-aid to his followers, then suicide for himself as well. This gay lifestyle crap coupled with abortion on demand could back fire on him(Obama) with conservatives of his own party, alot of the black vote he`s counting on are really more conservative than he thinks. Eg. here in California alot of people voted FOR proposition 8, against gay marriage only then to have it repealed by the courts. This election won`t have the courts to count on to end parents concern over how they feel about their kids(offspring) are turning out in later in life. The gay lifestyle spells doom to many people regardless of what party you belong to. Many young people who were molested when they were children, many times kill themselves rather than embrace that lifestyle, because their family & peer pressure over that lifestyle.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:29 PM

            ThAnks Dennis.

            Interesting point!

You are absolutely correct, In the Box!

I putting a Romney sticker on my car, by the way.

Question, how is the audio quality at your end?

      Big Al

        Sep 08, 2012 08:41 PM

no problem with the audio…Mr. Al….it is ALright

    Sep 08, 2012 08:33 AM

FYI Bill Still fans might want to chaeck out the latest Keiser report.
Not kind at all to the fans of The Mises Institute….Still fans will enjoy rhe second half of the program. But he who agreees with anyone about everything is not thinking.
    http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/episode-338-max-keiser/

      Sep 08, 2012 08:50 AM

Dennis, thanks for the reminder to check keiser.
I really like Bill Still, wanted Al to have him as a regular guest. Would love to hear Bill and Ron Paul debate things.
I have been convinced for awhile that we are going to some kind of gold standard, not because its good but because we are corrupt.
All the warning in the world is not going to get people to understand, so we are going to gold.
I mentioned some time back a voting option instead of the obama/romney ticket could be Bill Still or Roseanne Barr. Alot of people laugh of course, I like to think that eventualy people will realise whats happening. n.d.a.a. not enough? really?

      Sep 08, 2012 08:09 AM

I lost count of the amount of ad hominem Keiser indulged in, then switched off shortly after he finished his rant about money being worth nothing. Strikes me as a populist entertainer rather than a serious critical thinker.

Anybody on here that thinks money is worth nothing is welcomed to send me any or all of the money they have. I will accept any legal tender, paper or otherwise. Just reply here and I will give you the necessary information to help you transfer your worthless cash to me.

        Sep 08, 2012 08:07 AM

I have some Zimbabwean currency to send your way.
All I ask is $12.95 USD per billion to cover shipping and handling.
        Cordially,
        Dennislaw

          Sep 08, 2012 08:41 AM

@ dennis LOL, James… Keiser is a lot more inteligent than you think, he invented the programs that walstreet is useing, that is 1 reason he knows what going on. But yes, he does come across kinda “funny” I think he aims at the masses, remember the masses ( focused on american idol etc) are the people that have to change things, so, he attempts to comunicate in a way they can relate to. Smart in my opinion. The “informed” already know alot of what is happening. Keiser is excellent at investment advice too, he recommended shorting facefook for example.Lots of others too. Also, if he were “stupid” why would so many informed and intelligent people have anything to do with him? I dont think Mr. Keiser should be underestimated.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:20 PM

Well, maybe I caught a terrible example. But saying money is worthless is idiotic even in Zimbabwe. Frankly, one of the most stupid comments from a media commentator I have ever heard.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:24 PM

James can you see why tender laws and irrdeemable paper money inevitably makes those who labor for said paper money mere salves?
If you attempt to store wealth in paper you may as well be a conscript in building a shovel ready pyramid.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:43 PM

            Hi Dennis,

I am not arguing against a gold standard, or the idea that sound money principles are undesirable, but I am saying that even paper money is worth more than nothing – even if it is by the wheelbarrow. I think Keiser’s argument is fallacious, and it was preceded by ad hominems directed at American economists that were inspired by the Austrian School. For someone who is allegedly not stupid, why was Keiser being such a dumbass?

          Sep 08, 2012 08:18 PM

          Hi Dennis,

Ha Ha. I’ll take it. But since all cash is worthless, then surely you can just use as much as you need to in order to send the rest my way. I don’t regard money as worthless so I won’t be paying anyone, or giving away any money in order to procure other peoples money.

The point being Keiser’s viewpoint on money is ridiculous, so why is he saying it? And why the ad hominem against other economists and their views without even one critical argument?

            Sep 08, 2012 08:25 PM

James, Robert Kyosaki and Mike Maloney have been saying “cash is trash” for years.
I think they are trying to make a point, not that it cant be used.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:19 PM

For people who want to store value, all we nned to do is remove any powere of taxation in transactions involving gold and silver. Allowing fractionnal banking and forcing governments to use gold or silver will not put honest governments in place.

“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty” – Thomas Jefferson

      Sep 08, 2012 08:25 PM

Thanks for the link Dennis M,

I don’t have Bill on the show because I firmly believe in a return to the gold standard. He does not. He simply wants “No More Debt”

I am pretty convinced that without a measurable way to not print money, “No More Debt” will not work.

      What do you think?

      Big Al

        Sep 08, 2012 08:27 PM

Al, personaly I dont know enough to know which way is correct, thats why I would like to see Bill Still and Ron Paul debate it.

          Sep 08, 2012 08:34 PM

Al, just realised, there seems to be a little kenysian in you. What would the austrians think? Lincons greenback worked really well, that was fiat, thing is you need an honust government to pull it off.

            Sep 08, 2012 08:47 PM

            Afternoon benb,

            Your point is my point!

            Big Al

          Sep 08, 2012 08:48 PM

Let me see what I can do.

          Big Al

        Sep 08, 2012 08:48 PM

        Al.

Watching the money masters and reading the Franklin`s text answered a lot of questions for me. The knowledge of Trotsky and von Mises both financially backed by the elite tells a lot as well. The freaks from the Royal Institute of International Affairs always know how to infiltrate and manipulate any movement that may have influence.

    Sep 08, 2012 08:15 AM

@Dennis M. O’Neil – I’m glad to see Bill getting more media attention. If you have a login for RT, Keiser probably would like to see this…

A Modest Enquiry into the Nature and Necessity of a Paper-Currency by Benjamin Franklin (1729)

    http://etext.lib.virginia.edu/users/brock/webdoc6.html

Franklin had this to say after the constitutional convention:

At the close of the Constitutional Convention on September 17, 1787, as Benjamin Franklin left the hall in Philadelphia, he was asked, “What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?” He replied: “A republic, if you can keep it.”

      Sep 08, 2012 08:49 AM

Hi Missive, RT was shut down for 3 days, some say the american gov was the culprit, if so, I wonder what it was they didnt want us to see. Another interesting tidbit, Goldseek interview with Lindsay Williams, he said Saudi Arabia would be attacked, lo and behold 30k of their oil computers got hit. He says the americans are driving the oil price to 200 a barrel as they have huge reserves.

        Sep 08, 2012 08:35 PM

        Interesting comments re: Saudi Arabia.

        Thanks benb,

        Big Al

        Sep 08, 2012 08:00 PM

Is anyone taking about PEAK OIL….Paplava, started taking about peak oil again….Think about this, what if Saudi does not have the oil they report….., you know they must say they have a lot of oil, just , so we will continue to protect them, but, what would happen if they did not have the oil…..no protection from the usa, and the telaban would be in their country in twentyfour hours….

    Sep 08, 2012 08:22 AM

The US of A has a lot of bright spots in it’s future, we all know where the short term is headed but long term the American economy is poised to snap back and become the leader once again. I was against the XL pipeline because that would bring heavy crude from Alberta into Louisiana for refining and it never made sense to me, I said so 6 months ago and now it is more of a bad decision to let Enbridge build it. With the light sweet crude and Nat Gas flowing out of The Bakken in North Dakota and elsewhere in the US of A the turnaround is making over America as an energy superpower. The last century was prosperous because of the plentiful supply of cheap energy and now they have it in spades and will become the biggest energy producer in the next ten years. The turnaround will be mind boggling. That coupled with their other pluses in agriculture and leading edge technology will see another renaissance in America’s future. Success investing depends on one’s ability to adapt and this is part of what Dick Tracy see’s and I’m sure most others will agree.

    Sep 08, 2012 08:45 AM

@Dick Tracy – I am of the opinion that crony capitalism will prevent your forecast from happening. But that is just me.

      Sep 08, 2012 08:38 PM

      Afternoon Machine Gun and Missive,

In the short to mid term I would have to side with Missive.

I say this because, it seems to me that, there are absolutely hugely detrimental thinks going on right now in our “capitalistic” society.

I do think that ultimately Machine Gun will be correct.

      Time will certainly tell,

      Big Al

        Sep 08, 2012 08:30 PM

I wish you were right Al. However, when otherwise sophisticated gentlemen like yourself and Mr. Grandich unknowlingly tow the mainstream propaganda, I have to doubt. We cannot solve a problem by ignoring its root, and the root is corruption. Corruption at the highest level, where whole nations are signed on to fraudulent obligations and then told there is no way out. Europe in trouble because they are socialist? Really? How about all the debt incurred to bailout their banks?

I just don`t understand why these facts are so difficult for people to face.

        Any insight?

          Sep 08, 2012 08:37 PM

          How are we doing that?

          Big Al

            Sep 08, 2012 08:30 PM

By stating things like “Europe is in trouble because of socialism”. The facts are every western country is in trouble because they took on bad investments from their banks, and now interest and capital is due. Only Iceland did not get tricked into that. It would have been better to simply send a check to every citizen.

GAO Audit Reveals Fed Gave $16 TRILLION to TBTF Banks From 2007-2010

The GAO report reveals that Citigroup received an astonishing $2.5 TRILLION, Morgan Stanley (who again may be on the verge of collapse) was bailed out to the tune of $2.04 TRILLION, and Goldman Sachs & JP Morgan received over $1.1 TRILLION combined!
These funds were handed out at 0% interest rates, and VIRTUALLY NONE HAVE BEEN PAID BACK!

            http://www.silverdoctors.com/gao-audit-reveals-fed-gave-16-trillion-to-tbtf-banks-from-2007-2010/

Socialism looks like a very affortable approach compared to the dollars above.

            Sep 09, 2012 09:22 AM

            Good morning Missive,

First of all, I really appreciate all of your comments. It would be great to chat with you over a couple of Lone Stars.

I think that perhaps a better way to state your argument is that Western Civilization really must get its economic act together. I don’t think it will before a major collapse and that is why I am in hard assets.

By the way, regarding real estate, I am changing my tune. If I can even sell our little home up here I will be facing a potential 35% loss from where we purchased it just a couple of years ago. That is a big hit for Big Al!

            Big Al

            Sep 09, 2012 09:40 AM

I, of course agree: Western Civilization really must get its economic act together.

However, that is not possible when the underlying premises of an economic system allows some to be CAUGHT with their hands in the cookie jar and no consequences for their actions.

The declaration of Independence really stems from an indept analysis of the natural tendencies of government: power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, which is why it defines the only approriate role of government: protect God given individual liberties.

If the governments allows money to be created out of thin air and interests charged on that by a third party, corruption is inherent to the system.

“The Government should create, issue, and circulate all the currency and credits needed to satisfy the spending power of the Government and the buying power of consumers. By the adoption of these principles, the taxpayers will be saved immense sums of interest. Money will cease to be master and become the servant of humanity.” – Abraham Lincoln

And for those who might be tempted to bow at the altar of government, the Good Book defines what is a legitimate government:

“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:” – Romans 13:3

These governements do not punish the guilty, and certainly do not praise those seeking justice and peace. So how legitimate are they in God`s eyes, I wonder…

            Sep 10, 2012 10:36 AM

            Really a great question, Missive!

            Big Al

            Sep 09, 2012 09:41 AM

By the way, Labatt`s blue would do well too. Haven`t had one of those in years 🙂

            Sep 10, 2012 10:37 AM

Yeah, but neither of us are in Canada.

            Big Al

          Sep 08, 2012 08:01 PM

Hi Missive. Peoples memories are short or maybe…
I watched a show about how the governments manipulat by causing people to forget things. I mentioned it awhile back, how the researchers showed how they could get a completly inocent person to admit to a murder they had nothing to do with.
Quite ingenious actually, but, its all in how the mind works, and the powers that be are masters at it, how else can you explain all the conversation about gay stuff when facism is taking the country? How else can intelligent people actually believe with all the proof to the contrary that there is a diferance between repubs and dems? How do people that Know about debt blame anything else?
Its the same tools being used today that were used in the 30s and 40s.
It is hidden right in front of everyones eyes. Beliefs, the mind, its funny stuff.

            Sep 09, 2012 09:34 AM

You make a great point, Benb!

            Thank you,

            Big Al

    PLEASE get the audio repaired!!!!!

    Who are the intolerant ones?
Democrats enthusiastically vote against God!!!!!!!!!! And then lie about it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would someone worship at the altar of The State celebrating perversion and honoring the sacrament of abortion? Why would an ordained minister Co-chair of the platform committee redact God from any mention and be forced to attempt repair by floor vote? Because the voices shouting NAY in this video are intolerant Godless scum:

Interesting when watching the atheistic proceeding are many but here are a couple interesting tid bits:
    1) The amendment was introduced to motion by Former Gov. of Ohio Ted Strickland who was Co-chair of the Platform Committee. Therefore if anyone was responsible for God being omitted from the platform it was he. Methodist ordained minister or not!
    2) It is obvious the voice vote by decibel revealed the motion for God was voted down.
Think of that next time a Democrat canvasser knocks on your door.
    3) The yet to be identified ruling chairman was clearly confused. The voice vote result was inconsistent with his tele-prompter telling him “In the opinion of the chair the vote was in the affirmative.”
    4) So there you have it. God is voted against. Jerusalem is slighted. And the result is lied about for clear politics. Only at the Democratic National Convention where it is most likely you cannot tell the electorate who you really are because you need the majority of people to vote for you with your hidden amoral baggage!
    OTRAGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peter Schiff asking Democrat delegates if we should ban corporate profits.
It is scary that these people vote………….. It is no wonder they are in favor of special needs programs. An entertaining 4 minutes if it did not so clearly reveal the near hopeless uphill battle to convince many the merits of a merit based soceity.

Thanks Dennis, Peter Schiff is great. This is even better than when he talked to the occupied people.

its going to be a close election. can you see a 1% election???? S

      Sep 08, 2012 08:38 PM

In my opinion the election is already decided, recall bush over gore? or how about
“we dont want Ron Paul votes” therefore we wont count them.
All we get to do is see who is going to be pres. not that he runs anything anyway.

    Hi Al,
I really doubt Obama will be reelected. They even had to change the venue for that empty speech he delivered because he couldn’t fill the outside stadium. I think Clint Eastwood was brilliant. His delivery was exactly what he intended. There are empty chair pictures all over the place and after a week it is still being talked about. It was an ad lib performance but he thought of every detail right down to the teleprompter next to the empty chair.

      Sep 08, 2012 08:51 PM

Karen….I have to agree with you again…..I think Obama is in trouble….THE first time around, he was different, people thought they had hope, the people did nt know how corrupt this joker obama was and is….There are just to many questions concerning his back ground But, we know for a fact, he is against the constitution and bill of rights…and that we did not know the first time around….

It was a good show. Nice hearing from Pisenti and Grandich, and Pete Hegseth was well articulated.

Marshall Berol brought up an interesting point about certain gold funds outperforming gold in the recent past. Curious, as a few juniors I’ve watched just went down as gold went over 1,700. There are theories either way, but it looks like bigger-cap gold stocks were the one’s Marshall was talking about (as included in various gold funds). But here we are, early September, and gold is on it’s way up again.

I have seen this as well.
You have to give the majors a time in the sun when volume to the sector increases.
After the dividend yields are bid down the hope of “assay results” and “ramping up” and “mill expansion” will catch a bid. JAT

      Sep 08, 2012 08:19 PM

I have a strong feeling, John W, this trend will continue and take a lot of juniors with it.

      Time will certainly tell!

THE ILLUSION THAT IS OUR ECONOMY
How can what we all experience be a mirage?
Did Einstein clear everything up, or did he convolute it?
Does it matter to discern what is real?
Is it enough to play along in endless hide and seek pretending that nothing matters until the dinner bell?
    Where have we arrived?
Is making determination based on perceived data rendered meaningless?
Do words have no real meaning?
Are we just birds in a cage chirping?
Is a 4 year Old’s parental induced belief in Santa Claus equivalent to a 65 year Old’s politician’s induced belief in unfunded Medicare and Social Security?
Where does economic reality exist if in important matters grandparents are the likes of their grandkids thanking non-reality for bounty delivered from fantasy?
We should not embrace what is not!
Truth hurts but it is like…kicking a can:

    Let the kids play.
    Give up on Santa Claus!

I like Al’s little joke about Dan Pisent wants Nancy Pelosi for his best friend!!
Socialists have destoyed societies everywhere. They go to destroy the pillars of civilsation, the Family and the Church or any religion, especially the native religion and replace them with the ‘gold’ of the State with a capital ‘S’.
We are too far down the road in the US, Europe and the UK. Gay marriage is on the agenda over here too.
Don’t you wonder why these things tend to appear on the politicial agenda in many different countries at the same time? It’s a planned destruction of the pillars of civilisation. Our enemy is the corrupt government and we are so stupid that we think they are our best friend, talking about the general population. Never mind.
“The path is clear, though no eyes can see the course laid down long before” as goes the 1973 Genesis song. We are on the path to destruction but it will turn around somewhere else. Another civilisation will inherit the world.

I meant the’god’ of the State – a Freudian slip!

My friend’s son has a girlfriend who recently had a premature baby, born 13 weeks early, a full 3 months! That is, the baby was born at 27 weeks. Of course, the coule were up and down to and from the hospital on a daily basis and were very worried. Now they have brought the baby back home. They have photos of the baby when it was born in May (it was due in August!) and it was so tiny but it was definitely a baby human being, Al.

I recall that abortion in the UK used to be available until 28 weeks. This was later shortened but late abortions are still available for this reson or that. This means that in the 1980s, any baby of this stage of development could have been killed (aborted). That is totally outrageous. As technology improves so that medically, the ‘wanted’ babies can be saved at earlier stages of developkment, proving that they are human beings, earlier abortions will become visibly unjustifiable too.

Nobody can define whether someone else is a human being or not and kill them or save them according to their opinion. It is not a matter of rights; it is a matter of good and evil.

The mother of this little baby was recenly delighted to be home with her child at last. And that is great because she is a nice girl and she deserves it.
