Ed Moya – Recapping Economic Data And The Fed From Last Week, Yields Rising, China Re-Open Trade

Cory
December 19, 2022

Ed Moya, Senior Market Analyst at OANDA joins me to recap the Fed meeting and policy statement followed by the weak US economic data from last week. Looking into next year everyone continues to guess how many rate hikes will happen next year, if the Fed will start cutting during 2023 and if a recession is baked in. We also look at the China re-opening and what that means for markets and economic data.

Took note then and bought a few IAG calls, which I sold today for a nice profit. Thank you GF.

My previous post about brixton and .46-.52 target is still in play for this month if not next. I don’t see any let down from these lenses. The overall structure has changed and with that the mentality now is buy the dips.

Scorpio is going to break .5 and when it does get out of the way! The pain has been long and the tides have now changed yet many remain bearish.

If you have not been accumulating impact at the .32 area I don’t know what else to say. It’s a buy of a lifetime imo. The breakout which could take another month or soon who knows will be to the upside and move very fast.

    Cheers to all

It’s a bit disappointing that impact and other silver miners aren’t already much higher. The last couple of months has produced quite a large negative divergence in the silver miners vs silver metal, for whatever reason. But whatever, at this point I am already all-in and really have no choice but to just roll with it. HL has been my best performer as far as silver miners, since silver made its low. HL managed to buy Alexco at basically a historic low in mining stocks and silver, and the share price is reflecting that excellent (and very rare) timing.

I still own some Scorpio, SGN, it is a sleeper along with Big Ridge.

Big Ridge, BRAU, also left for dead. I’m trying to find the connection between Big Ridge and Goldshore, GSHR, as Big Ridge news feed seems to have Goldshore pop up on my bank site

      Dec 20, 2022 20:41 AM

Couple of people have mentioned the same…….
Some on here , think he is the best trader ever….
He use to be here a lot, over the years…….

Bobby M….. does have some great articles… at times…. JMO

      Dec 20, 2022 20:41 AM

Everyone is a fraudster now. Jamie Dimon and Lloyd Blankfein set the bar.

      You can’t trust anyone.

        Dec 20, 2022 20:44 AM

I would have to agree with you……on that one……….well almost … especially bankers….

Bob is not a “fraud” Chip.
What your seeing is the nature of jr mining stocks.

Al asking Bob to leave because Bob called out Jim on a few things was a mistake.
      Comments diminished after that.

I wonder if anyone recalls Bobs prediction for this blog.

        Dec 20, 2022 20:56 AM

        Humm…………. what was his prediction………. ?

      Dec 20, 2022 20:28 AM

A lot of so-called investors read Bob’s recommendations and buy into stocks he mentions, I’ve seen that on this site. If you don’t do your own Due Diligence you are not being responsible for your actions, and you get what you deserve. Bob Moriarty is not a fraud he is forthright and honest, and most certainly he is not a fool! DT

        Dec 20, 2022 20:29 PM

Agreed 100% DT. Everyone should do their own due diligence and take responsibility for their own decisions as they are the ones that hit the buy and sell buttons, and nobody else is to blame.

Also you nailed it with this last line.

“Bob Moriarty is not a fraud he is forthright and honest, and most certainly he is not a fool! ”

Personally, I find Bob M. to be one the smarter savvier guys in this sector, and he’s only tried to help me personally, and taken time to explain things to me, and opened doors to companies to bring on the show, and people taking cheap shot at him on this blog are barking up the wrong tree.

Barring a complete collapse in the mining stocks, the XAU:gold ratio’s 200 and 600 WMA will positively cross sometime in the May-June timeframe. This will be the first time the 200 WMA is above the 600 WMA in 22 years! I am expecting the XAU:gold ratio to break out above both MAs before March 2023 though, and likely much sooner.

A 4% move in USD/yen today. Needless to say, that is nuts.

this kind of ridiculous currency volatility of two of the largest economies on earth must be great for trade.

    Dec 20, 2022 20:02 AM

Someone explain yen strength = silver strength to me like I’m a second grader

Do Japanese hedge bond prices with silver?

I don’t get the connection there.

      Dec 20, 2022 20:18 AM

The general trend has always been yen and swiss franc up (vs USD), gold and silver up and commodities generally, up. But when TSHTF, who knows whether these historic correlations will maintain themselves.
