Not a great look for the largest publicly traded gold producer = Newmont.
It’s a strange dichotomy out there right now. On one hand, there is so much good news across the PM sector being completely ignored for some time by investors, and being shrugged off or sold down into as a liquidity event. On the other hand, it is unfortunate that for most generalists Newmont is one of the only stocks they’ll know of or follow, and this is the news they are seeing about gold mining the sector.
Hi Ex, I’m not sure about your response towards Newmont’s mine closure. Sometimes collective bargaining takes place while the company remains in operation but if the workers walked off the job without notification of when the strike would be in force or worse the company was met with threats of violence or equipment destruction, I can understand Newmont’s response. But if Newmont just closed down the plant without proper procedure the miners are not to blame. We will soon know once this action unfolds. As far as a ripple effect through the mining industry I don’t think it will look good for investment in Mexico no matter who is to blame, especially if this job action drags on. DT
Yeah, regardless of who is to blame, is not positive news emanating from the largest most visible publicly traded gold mining company. That was the main takeaway… that most generalists will only give it a cursory glance and it will not help attract new interest into this sector.
Another great conversation with HH, thank you.
Thanks for that feedback Terry.
Glad to hear you liked it Terry!
Thanks for your thoughts on WAM. I am excited about the drilling this summer. What would you guess are NUG’s chances of finding a nice deposit this year? By the way, someone calling himself Bonzo is now commenting at CEO.CA. I never comment there. The true Bonzo is here.
I thought that was you! As for NUG, I literally have no idea. But at $12 M I guess it’s pricing in a 2% chance of success? If it’s closer to 15% it ought to be quite cheap.
Thanks for your thoughts on NUG. I bought a ton of it at 10 and 11 cents 3 years ago and still have it at 2 cents. But it could go to 1 or 2 bucks if they find what QH thinks might be there, so I’m holding on.
And I still have high hopes for ESK, NFG, LAB, AUCU, B, BBB, BYN, FFOX, Aurion, BTG, ELO, CN, NVO, DV, GOT, IRV, LIO, KUYA, TLRS, WHGOF, GPG, SGD, IAUX, VGZ, BLLG, and WAM. I hope KEREPORT people don’t confuse the fake CEO.CA Bonzo with the true Bonzo at KEREPORT
I’ve been wondering about VGZ, fully permitted, with 12Moz gold sitting there ready to go. Sure it’s low grade but everything else about it seems good.
